Lawd a'mighty! I just can't believe he's not a Packer anymore. (Hello, he IS the Packers.) And the JETS?! How on earth is my Dolphin loving hubby gonna take that news? We were so hoping he'd go to Tampa Bay.

Oh, well. Since we know the 'fins aren't going anywhere for a while, I guess we're Jets fans for however long he's there. Except when they play the Colts, of course. No one in this house had better cheer against my Colts, Brett or not! LOL!

Yay! I'll be the first to welcome Brett to the Big Apple! He's going to draw in a ton of fans!

My husband is from Wisconsin and a huge Packers fan. He lives in the Tampa area now, so he was hoping that Brett would go to the Bucs. So he's pretty sad about it.

In fact, and I'm not entirely sure he was joking, he said, "That's three terrible things that have happened this year: Brett Favre announcing his retirement, my dad dying, and now Brett Favre going to the Jets."

Welcome to the Jets Brett*but I'm a Giants fan. Although I could be a Jets fan:rotfl2:

The jets needed something to get people to pay the $20,000 to hold onto their season tickets for the new stadium. (which I think is terrible by the way) I guess this is it.

Those stinkin' Jets!!!!!!! Well as a Fin fan, I'm not happy. Always like Favre, but now he plays for the enemy. It'll be fun rooting against him. I definitely makes the Jets better, but IMO, they still can't compete with the Pats. I'll say this for those Jets, it's a good way to sell a few of those seat licenses for the new stadium next year!

Sports talk radio down here is now talking about the possibility of Jets QB Chad Pennington being cut sometime today or tomorrow and the Fins making a move to pick him up to throw into the mix at QB...I've never been a fan of limp noodle Pennington, but it should be interesting.

I was just at Lambeau Field on Sunday. I was upset when he retired, but this is sickening. Brett will always be a Packer to me. :sad1:

It's absolutely heart-breaking......
We have Green Bay season tickets, but I seriously think I'll be rooting for the Jets this year!

Can some one from the Green Bay area let me know what the average fan really thinks about this whole deal? I'm not talking the rabid droolers at either end of the spectrum, just the average Packer fan. The media can't be trusted not to whip up a frenzy either way, and I was just wondering.

I think that while I could understand the clubs need to move on and build for the future, as a fan I'd really want to win now.

Oh, and Laugh O. Grams, my husband was appalled to hear that he'd gone to the JETS. You should have seen his sad little face when I told him. He was counting on the Bucks. He was even getting ready to order his Favre jersey so we could be (sort of) "twins". Now he won't do it! :rotfl:

Tell him that Miami sport talk radio is all abuzz about Pennington potentially coming to the Fins. We'll see if we can get his head to explode! ;)

I just can't believe how this has turned out. If you would have told me last spring that Farve would be playing for the Jets, I would have thought you needed some medication.:lmao:

I hope that this is what Brett really wanted and nothing is sadder to me in the world of sports, than to see a HOF player/legend to end up like this. As a kid I remember Joe Namath last days as a Ram, OJ Simpson playing for the 49er's in 1979, or Emmitt Smith in a Cardinal uniform. All ended their HOF careers on a sour note and it's something as a diehard NFL fan, I hate to see. It's not good for the player, the original team, or the NFL in general, IMO, of course.;)

I hope Brett Farve is happy with his choice because this is how he will be remembered. He went from being the Savior in GB to Pontius Pilate in just a few months. It will take years for the GB fans to forgive him and God help the coaching staff, front office, and Aaron Rodgers if the Pack has a dreadful season. I wish them and the Jets fans good luck, because it may be a bumpy ride this season.:scared1:

I will be at the Browns game tonight, he supposedly will be at the game but not in uniform, unless you count him being in Wranglers his uniform.

I don't know. Maybe if he was doing it just because of money, but I honestly think it's because he wants to play. And from this Californian's perspective, it's looking more like he was run out of town than anything else.

So yea, it's a mess now, but when he makes it into the HOF in the next six or seven years, I think a lot of the hard feelings (on both sides) will have faded a bit. I'm sure there will be a few fans who won't be able to put it aside, and from what it's sounding like, hopefully Brett will be able to put some thing's aside as well. But when push comes to shove, and when the history books are written, Brett will be remembered by Green Bay fans as a Green Bay Packer, arguably the best who has ever played there.

That will still be his legacy.

I dont think he is doing it for the money, he was using a private jet to get to/from GB, so I dont think money is a concern for him ;)

He really wanted to START for the Packers, but that train had left the station(according to head coach).

I can't believe he's gone to the Jets. It's another of those things that where you wish he had just stayed retired, like Montana. I think both sides were some to blame in the circus this became, but as an outsider looking in, I lay a lot of this on Brett's own shoulders. That said, I wish him well, though not too well as he's in our division now ;)

As for pennington, I never thought the NY fans gave him a fair shake, and I hope the GB fans let Rogers (sp?) just play and don't crucify him.

True. In fairness though, Farve has been playing the retirement game with the Packers for about 3 seasons or so. I remember reading a SI article by Peter King, that he finally got on the private plane to training camp at the very last minute. He actually thought about calling it quits on the eve of training camp three years ago and the Packers were crapping bricks at the thought of it. They really would have been behind the 8 ball so to speak, if he had of quit in August. I think the Packers management grew tired of the Farve "merry go round" and said the heck with it, the future begins now. No one on both sides of this debacle, has clean hands or is innocent. I came across a quote of Gen. George C. Patton while doing some research on a different subject and it just spoke to me concerning this issue. I'll post it below.

"For over a thousand years Roman conquerors returning from the wars enjoyed the honor of triumph, a tumultuous parade. In the procession came trumpeteers, musicians and strange animals from conquered territories, together with carts laden with treasure and captured armaments. The conquerors rode in a triumphal chariot, the dazed prisoners walking in chains before him. Sometimes his children robed in white stood with him in the chariot or rode the trace horses. A slave stood behind the conqueror holding a golden crown and whispering in his ear a warning: that all glory, no matter how great, is fleeting.- Gen. George C. Patton

I'm a huge Packer and Brett fan and lay most of the blame on Brett's shoulders too. GB management were no angels in this whole thing, but Brett's indecision over the past few years and then the fiasco with this "I'm retiring/I'm not retiring/I'm retiring/I'm not retiring" BS pushed them over the edge. Had he just come back the first time he changed his mind back in late March none of this would have happened.

I think the vast majority of fans will support Rogers. I was at the scrimmage on Sunday and although there were some people booing him, most people were thrilled to see him out there and have the chance at winning his jersey that night. I'm sure there will be people out there digging on him all season long though now that Brett's playing on another team, which is sad since none of this is Aaron's fault.

Was his past indecisiveness real, or mostly the press going crazy with a out of context sound bite?

We will never know, but when it came to last year. You had the team pretty much promote a fair well tour, they should have given him a gold watch and walked him to the car too.

The NFL Network and ESPN are thinking he could end up with the Chiefs. For the sake of my hubby's brain, let's hope so! :rotfl:

I can't believe I'm going to actually agree with a Pats fan ( ;) on two points, no less!), but yes, I do feel this was handled badly on both sides. But when it comes down to it, if you're someone with the career success of No. 4, and you are the face of your franchise, you should expect a little better treatment. I think all would have been better had he stayed retired. But it looks like he was treated with hostility, or at the very least passively/aggressively, (MHO of course, naturally I wasn't there) by the front office and the coaching staff. I think that's what turns me off the most. I could be totally wrong of course, and we'll never know all sides to the story, but I'm going to hold the team a tad bit more responsible than Brett.

And while I wish him well, (especially in YOUR DIVISION, ;) ) I really don't want him going to the playoffs or the Super Bowl over my Colts. That's why it was nice to have him in the NFC. I didn't have to feel guilty cheering him on!
