What is your family's favourite way to spend your first day?

We'll be arriving around 9 a.m. on a Sunday and will try to check in even though I know our room won't be ready yet. This is our first trip to wdw:banana: --Is it worth it to hit one of the parks or go to DisneyQuest/Downtown Disney for the day before hitting the resort's pool?

For us it really depends on when we get there and how much overall time we have at WDW. Our trip last May was for 3 days so on our first day we pretty much enjoyed the resort grounds (our room wasn't ready until 4p) walked over to DTD to do some light shopping etc. Other times we've ridden the monorail to Epcot and enjoyed the view or toured some of the resorts we haven't been to before. This trip we only have 4 days in Disney after our cruise so our first day will be a park day. I like the idea of going to DTD the first day especially if you like shopping for souvies b/c it'll give you an idea of what isn't available in the parks. Good luck!

We always get the first flight out to Florida and are there in Orlando and out of the airport by 10am. We normally try to check-in our resort (if we can't, we have them hold our bags and do a quick freshen up in the restrooms), then we head off to the parks. We are too excited to be there. Seems such a waste of a day for us not to do a park. We never make it a all day/night thing. We come back to the resort around 4pm, hit the pool, rest a bit and then go to dinner. If we are feeling really energetic, we will get to MK or Epcot afterwards to see Wishes or Illuminations, then we head back to the resort and go to sleep. Otherwise, we make an early night of things and just hang at the resort after dinner.

Our touring style probably doesn't work for everyone, but it works for us. Our last day at Disney we make it a point to wind down. We always get the last seating at Boma for breakfast and then we hit DTD for a relaxing day of shopping and playing games at DQ. By the time we get on our flight home (usually after dinner), everyone is tired and ready to be home again. :thumbsup2

We have lunch at the resort and look around. Then we go to DTD Marketplace, have dinner, and go back to the resort to unpack and get to bed early so we can get an early start the next day.

We have always gotten there in the evening so spend our time settling in, eating and exploring our resort and sometimes hit the pool. We hit the sack early to be raring to go on our first real day. We are always MK first , because we usually go more then once. It's also by far our favorite. This year we were able to go 3 times. Our tradition is always MK and straight to the carousel. I have no idea why we go there first, but we do.

If you have length of stay tickets, it's always worth going to the parks, even just the evening hours.
