Just wondering what your favourite character meal is..

Mine is now Ohana Character meal, we had a lovely breakfast and the way the characters interacted with my kids was first class. I loved the parade around the room.

It was a big improvement after the disappointment of the contemporary resort breakfast with Micky. Didn't enjoy that at all.

i might try that 1 morning, though i love the chef mickeys breakfast.

Amazingly we have never actually been to one Kev, Joshua isn't keen on restaurants at all.
However, we are going to give it another go next year as we are staying at the Polynesian first few nights so will definitely be booking the Ohana Character Breakfast as well as 1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian.

I have read numerous reviews and seen photo's etc, and these 2 along with Cape May at Beach Club seem to be the one's that get the best comments.
We really want buffet style, and prefer somewhere a little quieter too.

I know Ohana isn't really buffet but 'all you can eat' on them 'silver platter trays'.

Glad you liked it also, hopefully we will too.

I must add after visiting a few hotels for these character meals, I could never stay onsite. If I wanted to just have a simple breakfast it would drive me mad having hundreds of visitors wandering around.

The polynesian is beautiful, but was spoilt by the sheer amount of people in there.

The breakfast there was beautiful and the general atmosphere was tremendous.

The Contemperary with Mickey was poor IMHO, what the hell is the deal with the huge plate at the beginning? why would anyone want a photo in front of a plate? I was asked three times during my breakfast if I wanted the damn thing...

I know what you mean, we have had countless villa holidays over the years but we are totally driven by Joshua's autistic needs.
It's sometimes hard for us to get out when we are in a villa, during the day isn't a problem but Josh settles down for the evening after say 5pm and is just happy watching TV or playing in the pool.
We do occasionally manage it, and it doesn't exactly spoil the holiday just means we do not get to enjoy some of the things others take for granted and our holiday can suffer from being 'over familiar' if you see what I mean.
So having on-site facilities of a hotel with "things to do", gives us more options.

Hence we stay on site the first few nights to give us more variety - the Polynesian is a massive change from what we usually do, I cannot remember the last hotel we stayed at, it's been self catering for years now.
However, the location gives us so many advantages and it's something me and Julie are really looking forward to *and the breakfast platters at Ohana look good too!*

I have to agree the breakfast at O'Hanas is great.
We also enjoyed dinner at the 1900 Park Fare the characters really do get into 'character' the ugly sisters and the stepmother were so funny :lmao: . The choice on the buffet was really good too.

All really good points. Some I may have to come to terms with at some point also.

I don't ever see myself in a villa, when we are away, I want to get away from a house for a while, I don't want to be doing the beds, laundry, cooking etc. I can imagine what it's like once you get back to the villa in the evening, once settled after a tiring day - I can easily imagine not wanting to go back out.

Again I know what you mean Kev, Joshua is such a home boy though and loves staying in a villa and especially likes the pool.
His sleeping habits, he gets up very early every day also mean we don't have to worry about the people in the next room.

We have no social life at home, very little anyway, so on holiday I like to go out - like I say sometimes it can be difficult all of us going out together - so it will be nice to have something on-site too for part of our stay
Having said that our villa stay next year is at Terre Verde, and they have a clubhouse, bar, internet cafe etc there too - so hopefully we have all things covered.

What you said earlier makes a lot of sense, but actually I am looking forward to the Polynesian for exactly the same reasons you didn't - a balance between the isolation factor at a villa and being at a resort with plenty of people about.

Sorry mate if I have moved away from your original question.

Does Joshua have strange sleep patterns? Daniel was awake until 1am the other day - I had to be up at 4:45, I was knackered.

On the original subject I have to admit to having had some excellent character meals at the Garden Grill. Breakfast was great (but stopped a couple of years ago) Lunch was also fun but may have stopped now? Not done a dinner but assume the food is similar to lunch and characters same outfits/interaction.

Yes but different to yours.

He gets up between 4 and 5 am every day, but generally doesn't get up during the night and is usually asleep around 8pm in the evening.
So it's tiring in a different way for us.

*figure as you are the OP a change in subject is not a problem* ;)

We have tried a few Character meals, i used to love CRT but been there done that now !

So for us our favourites are Crystal palace and Princess storybook breakfast, however Ohana's is lovely as well :)

Did not like 1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian at all, thought Chef Mickeys was ok very very noisy ! Love the Crystal Palace in the MK

Hiya - we loved the princess storybook breakfast at epcot... Big choice of buffet food with some hot stuff on a plate delivered to your table.... LOTS of fresh fruit - and the yummy cinnamon buns were the best thing I've had to eat at Disney!!! The Princesses did a lot of interaction with the kids, chatting away, twirling, dancing and doing all sorts of "proper princess" things as my eldest dd(7) said...

We loved Chef Mickey's, but we booked this for our son's 7th birthday and took along a gift for Mickey to give him. It was fantastic - the character interaction was brilliant and certainly a breakfast we won't forget. Agree with you though, I don't get the giant plate for a photo backdrop! Same day we had dinner at Cinderella's Castle and by pure luck we were escorted to the table by the Girl herself, she fussed over us and made the evening special. Have also eaten breakfast in The Crystal Palace and enjoyed this too. We ate dinner in The Liberty Inn and found this great too - loved the food and great interaction from the characters. Had breakfast in the dinosaur place in AK, but felt like cattle being herded through.
Each to their own though, everyone has their own ideas of a great character meal - boys won't enjoy the Princess meal at Grand Floridian, but girls would love it.

Princess Storybook breakfast.. I know the princesses aren't everyone's cup of tea but we thought the character interaction was great for us as a couple, and we noticed the same for neighbouring tables aswell. One family had a little girl with a broken leg and the princesses (and Mary Poppins!) all paid special attention to her.
