I noticed on DH & I's first trip that there were suggestions on which area to stay in at Coronado Springs, and it really made a difference.

Wondering if there are fave/better rooms to choose for a 3 nt on the Wonder, in Cat 6? Or maybe since the ship is only so big, there's not much difference?

Just wondering before I book so I can make a request (request only I know)...thx for any insights. (I did a search but the function isn't working for me the last 2 days.)

cheers,
:flower3:

I can give you some generalized comments, but I personally haven't been in Cat 6.

One thing to keep in mind is that cabin 6588 is directly across from the laundry room, so there will be increased traffic and noise there.

With Cat 6 staterooms, there is one primary difference with the verandahs. Some have a solid 4' steel railing, and some have the horizontal bars with plexiglass for their railing. So the ones with horizontal bars obvious will give you more of a view when you're in the room and even when you are sitting out there. Therfore, my personal choice would be to avoid the solid railing verandahs. The staterooms with solid railing are #5142-5150, #5642-5650, #6144-6154, and #6644-6654.

Finally, the more centered you are on the ship, the less rocking you will feel, but that may not be a concern for everyone.

Another thing to think about that our TA brought up and I would have never thought about...is if you are NOT going to be doing connecting rooms, don't have a connecting room door, do you know what I mean? You are already in really tight quarters and then add a door taking up valuable wall space. And I know my kids, if there is a door there, they are going to be knocking on it and seeing if anyone answers.

Oh!! Good one. So those connecting rooms would be the following:

6028/6030, 6036/6038, 6044/6046, 6052/ 6054, 6064/6066, 6068/6070, 6072/6074,
6100/6102, 6104/6106, 6112/6114, 6120/6122,
6528/6530, 6536/6538, 6544/6546, 6552/6554, 6564/6566, 6568/6570, 6572/6574,
6600/6602, 6604/6606, 6612/6614, and 6620/6622

I think that sounds right, they are the rooms that you see the arrows by the number on the deck plans.

It certainly was a great thought from the TA...kudos to her for that :woohoo:

Thank you, thank you all, esp Buckeye Gal!!

This is the amazing type of info that Dis'ers have and are willing to share! It's the exact type of info I was looking for, and didn't even know what the ads/dis would be to make my ? more specific.

It will just be DH and I sailing so the non-adjoining rooms is something we won't need, and of course having a plexiglass type railing would be so much better (plus I notice from the numbers gave, most of those are at the rear of the ship too so double bad, so to speak).

Schachteles: thx for pointing out the arrows...something that makes so much sense but I wouldn't have figured out...:lmao: have a fab cruise too!!!

cheers,
:flower3:

Just wanted to add that you might want to look at what will be above/below you when choosing your stateroom. You don't want to be above the theater, for example, so look at the deck plans of the other floors too. Also, it's not really a request, unless you're booked in a gty room. Otherwise, you pick the actual stateroom you want, if it's available.

oh cool, thx a mint for the extra info, justthat!

cheers,

We really liked our room. It has a steamer trunk, close but not near the laundry room, pleixglass rail, not too far from the elevators, and we did not hear any other noise during cruise. We did hear a little creaking the last day but that is to be expected with gale force winds and 13-20 foot waves. The view is of the parking lot when docked at Cape Canaveral, but it was great for arrival in Nassau (lighthouse) and Castaway Cay beach.

We are all here to help and more than happy to chat about cruising!! Don't ever be shy to ask anything. Someone out here will know the answer!

fhtpdw20, thx a mint for the specifics of your room. Being not too far (but not right in front) of the elevators is great for when we waddle back to our rooms after the midnite buffet :rotfl2: And I don't care about laundry since I never want to spend time doing it on vacation - I barely want to do it at home :rotfl:

I was wondering if one side was "better" than another but thought with what I'd already asked, it'd be pretty anal to continue to ask and drill down that far :rotfl:

I've agreed to let DH relax and not do an excursion at Nassau - just go out to the market and do some shopping, so having a view of the lighthouse might be nice while we're in port.

Thx again all!

cheers,
:flower3:

Luckily my connecting door goes to my sister's room or my kids would be banging on someone's door, lol.

I'm kind of an oddity...my favorite cat. 6 room is 5650, which is one of the solid metal verandah rooms. But the verandah is larger than the norm, and the room itself is at the end of a hall so you get virtually no hallway traffic. It is peaceful and the verandah is soooo cozy!

But other than that, 5622/5122 are both good because you only have a neighbor on one side. I'm a huge deck 5 aft fan in general because there are few staterooms, i.e. less traffic, by any of the rooms there.

I'd never know these things without this board!!

Our room is 6616...so is that one of the "good" verandah rooms?

Our room is just above the beuna vista theatre...what type of problems would we have from that?

Our room for this October is 6634 which is a secret verandah room. It's a cat 6 at cat 7 prices as the verandah has a slight obstruction to it on one side (bascially it's at the back of the ship). Cat 7's normally have the navigators verandah but these 'secret' ones have the same ones as the cat 6's, the railing ones

I found out about the secret rooms on another website. PM me for details as I can't post here because the website is affiliated with a different TA.

I did book it thru Dreams tho!!

We just booked one of these for August 2009!

It's really not a secret. ;) The "secret" verandah rooms are 6134, 6634, 7120, 7620. You will find many descriptions on this board, and room reviews on the links at the top of the page.

I am tickled pink to get a Cat. 6 stateroom at a Cat. 7 price! Thank you All Seasons Travel. :flower3:

Do these secret veranda rooms sleep 3 or 4?

It might be a bit noisy when the shows are going on. If you're not sensitive to noise, or plan to go to the late shows, then it won't be a problem.
