We are taking the Dec 3rd Western cruise and would love to read about your favorite Western Excursions or things you did on your own. Our kids will be 8 and 6 when we cruise. Thanks for your input :flower: !

We did the trolley tour on our own in KW and then went to a new pirate museum, Pirate Soul, which was really cool. Our 5 1/2 yr old loved them! The Pirate Soul was about an hour. It had some authentic pirate stuff, including 1 of only 2 original Jolly Rogers in the world. Also, some interactive stuff.

In GC, we did the 2 1/2 hr Captain Marvins snorkle and visit to Stingray City. DS is still talking about it. For the snorkling part, the kids do need to be strong swimmers. DS swims but he was holding onto 1 of us most of the time since it's deep and can be wavy. He was able to stand on his own with the Stingrays.

Cozumel, we did the Chanaakab Sea Lion Discovery, not our favorite but nice. (We had a 1yr old with us too so we couldn't do anything really)

I definately recommend the Capt Marvins and the Pirate Soul for kids this age.

Stingray City on GC is something you will definitely want to try. My DS8 wants to go on the dune buggy excursion on Cozumel. Haven't done it yet, but looks like a good time. (www.cozumelhomes.com).

Another snorkeling option is with EagleRayDivers in Cozumel. We went with them last October and had fantastic snorkeling - the water wasn't at all rough. Our DS was 5 then and didn't end up really snorkeling, but our guide Chellie was WONDERFUL and he had a great time just bobbing around in the water (we brought his own life vest) and talking to her. She brought a few things up for him to see (Sea Cucumber, Starfish, etc.) and then explained how she put them back right where she had found them so they weren't disturbed too much. He is still talking about it. We are going to do the same excursion with them this October and DS says he is going to snorkel this time!

There website is at www.eagleraydivers.com. It was a very personallized trip - they have small boats and only take out small groups. Chellie is a marine biologists and is fantastic at pointing out things you wouldn't notice on your own. She is originally from the USA so language isn't a problem at all.

We've done the Jungle Jeep Tour. Our youngest was 8 at the time and our other two were 11 and 14. We had a blast. They loved it so much and want to go back when we go to Cozumel again. The other time we went to Cozumel we did the 3-reef snorkel trip with Eagle Ray Divers. This was the best snorkeling we've ever done on any excursion. I'd recommend either of the two. HTH

Thanks for the good advice.

Does anyone know the difference between the two pirate museums in Key West? Which would you recommend??? I think our DS 6 would love to see pirate stuff and anything interactive would be great.

I'll definately check out the eagleraydivers web site. It sounds great. We did the Doubloon Sail and Snorkel on the Eastern last year and our guides really made it a great trip for us and the kids! :sunny:

If your kids are afraid of the stingrays or if the water is too choppy is there something else they can do??? :confused3

Thanks,
Gailyn
