Favorite WDW Hotel/Resort

We always drive to disney, so we don't use the bus system.

I've always wanted to stay at AKL though. I sometimes go and plan a dream vacation on the website and always end up picking AKL. lol.

even if you drive, it does save a lot of time if you use the bus system. you don't have to drive to the parks, you can just hop a bus and relax.

our first trip, we didn't use the busses, and then on our second, we did, and we've never looked back, its so much easier.

We always fly; therefore, we always use the busses. It's vacation, I don't want to have to drive somewhere!

Polynesian!
Great Location
MK monorail
short walk to the T&TC
AMAZING theme
Beautiful all around
To-die-for beaches
You actually feel like you're in HAWAII and at WDW at the same time!

We'll be staying at the Grand Floridian sometime in the next year and I am TOTALLY excited to be staying there- it is SOOOO beautiful!

Wow! Yeah It sounds beautiful hotel and I can't wait to stay there. I've heard about and seen pics of it on lots of threads & TR's-including yours!;) But thanks for the extra details. I can't wait!!!

We always drive down too, because it's less expensive and I have a fear of planes xD. But we NEVER use our car... we always just hop onto the MK monorail (we normally stay at Poly, Contemp., or GF) or hit the buses/EPCOT monorail. Why drive to the parks when you can hop on a bus? Less hassle.

When I go, we are going to fly down. We're gonna have to rely on buses, boats, and monorails when we're down there!

I know. I wish they were. I love them. They feel like a Disney resort to me. Hahah =)

AKL is amazing as well. My mom and I did a self guided hotel tour last trip and stopped there. Loved it. I don't think I could ever stay there though, its a little far from everything...

I really realllly reallly wish they were Disney owned, because the things they could add on/do to them, would just be amazing.

I just talked to my mom about it. She said she wouldn't mind and would use the busses except she doesn't want to have to have a specific time to be back and wait on them. She likes taking our car because we can come and go whenever we want.

That's a really good point. Like I said before, we're flying down so we won't have our car. But we are going to be at the Poly, which is right next to the monorail which I think makes stops in every park at lots of different times. ( feel free to correct me if I'm wrong;)) Also my mom has spent alot of time working on a schedule/ plan of which park we'll be in when I don't think we'll run into any travel trouble.

Old Key West. It's amazing. & I love the Key West/tropical atmosphere.

the monorail ONLY goes to the ticket and transportation center, magic kingdom, epcot, the poly, the contemporary, and the grand floridian.

there is a new bus in the designated bus area every 7-14 minutes. :confused3 does your mom think that busses only run, like, on the hour? they run constantly from an hour before the park opens (sometimes earlier) to 2 hours after the park closes, ever 7-14 minutes (depending on how far the bus has to travel)

the disney bus system is VERY VERY user friendly, and does a great job to accommodate everyone.

The Grand Floridian:
Service can't be beat
I loved the concerige (or club level) rooms and food services
Such an awesome atmosphere
Monorail to MK and EPCOT :)
Nice beach and pool
Great views of Wishes and Electrial Light Parade
AMAZING resturants, such awesome food
Rooms are gorgeous and have a flat panel tv, ipod dock, charging stations for electronic and have really subtle Disney touches I love it
You can take a boat to MK and your resort
It's so gorgeous to look at
Really great shops and places to get your hair done/spa
Its really awesomely decorated for Christmas :)
Wow there's a million things I could say I just love staying here!

I suppose so. We've never looked up anything about busses so she wasn't sure. She said it'd be easier then finding our car and that we could try it next time. :)

i hope you like them!

my first trip we didn't "trust" the busses, because we didn't know how they work, after we tried them, they are really the way to go. its so much easier than trying to find your car, find parking, and just driving through the maze that is wdw roads.

Yeah i enjoy the buses for the most part, they are pretty good at coming on schedule. But they do become sort of a mess at park closing but that's my only complaint.
But other than that i think Disney transportation is amazing and is deff the way to go :)

oh, yeah. thats kind of bad, but if you time everything just right, depending on which resort you're staying at, you can usually find a bus but you might have to stand up on it.

pop century and animal kingdom lodge are located, pretty much, in the middle of nowhere, so those resorts have their own busses, which means that those busses don't go to any other resort, like the other resort busses. if you stay at either of those resorts, you (typically) have a shorter wait/ride time.

Ok, thanks so much. I really wasn't sure about the monorail and just went with what I thought I could remember. Now I know and no one esle will read that and get the wrong facts too! Thanks!

We use cars at Disney too. Now, granted, we've only been twice, but my handicapped mom is embarassed to use the lifts on the busses.

AKL. I stayed there in 2004 and thought it was SO GORGEOUS. The themeing, the workers and the animals...sigh..I want to go back. Maybe next year for my 16th? At the desk they even gave us a list of Hidden Mickey at the resort!
