Favorite water shoes/sandals for decks and beach

I love my Tevas, and wear them constantly spring through fall. But I always keep a cheap pair of sandals around for the beach because I don't want to deal with sand or soggy straps on the sandals afterwards. The Costco ones are really great for this.

On our Castaway Cay day last week I wore Teva sandals off the boat, and had bought a pair of "Vifuur Water Sports Shoes" (amazon) to wear into the water. The water shoes are like socks with rubber soles, so I didn't expect anything of them beyond the water. But honestly, they were so surprisingly comfortable that I kept them on for the walk back to the boat. I'm the type of person who can't even wear flipflops because my feet need support, which the water shoes don't really have much of, but they felt so good. Some kind of magic!

The decks on the ships are not actually slippery. I always wear fit flops around cruise ships. I wear them to the beach also. I take them off in the water. I have Keens also, but I don't wear them in sand. I hate how it gets trapped in there and never fully rinses out of the crevices.

This is my approach too, but I wear my flip flops in the ocean too if it is rocky. I can swim with them rather well if needed, or pull them off once out there and just hold them/use them on my hands. I've been fooled a few times into trying water shoes and can't figure out how people use them. Sand always gets in them within seconds and makes them unbearable to me, and the only way to fix it is to take them off and clean them out. With flip flops, the sand just washes out. They give me plenty of grip on the ship decks too. And they float if they accidently come off in the water. And are cheap and easy to replace. Just my two cents.

I’m putting in a plug for my Chacos. They have good arch support and my plantar fasciitis doesn’t flare up when I wear them for a long time. They have soft cloth straps. Chacos also have crocs-type shoes that have a nice adjustable back strap so they fit securely. They are lighter weight than the sandals but I find they don’t have as much arch support if that is important.

I also love my Keens H2O but the sand does tend to be hard to rinse out.

We use Nike water shoes and I don't know why I waited so many years to buy a pair. We use them both on the ship, at CC, and at resorts. I do find the deck a little slippery but more importantly, it's hot. What I like about water shoes is that I put them on before I leave my room and I don't need to be taking them off and putting them on constantly like I'd have to do with sandals. They don't get sand in them when walking around at CC and they are comfortable enough to be able to walk along the walkways.
Do you happen to have a link to them? I've been looking for a water shoe to wear at CC that doesn't get sand in them (or at least significantly reduces the amount of sand). Thanks!

Sadly I can't find them anymore. I was actually hoping to replace mine this year. But there are lots of options on Amazon. You need to be looking for pull-on ones, with a mesh or fabric top, elasticized opening, slightly cushioned insole, and non-slip rubber sole. That was really hard to find when we purchased ours but now there seem to be a lot.

I love Keens but I’ve also bought some inexpensive ones from Dick’s. We’re boaters and I think a tennis shoe bottom on a water sandal is key so you don’t slip and slide everywhere. The pool deck can be line lava in the Caribbean in summer and it’s no fine to burn your feet.
