:santa: Scrooge (the musical) with Albert Finney.

"I like this drink I'm drinking"

Can't beat Patrick Stewart's version. For years I had listened to audio dramas and read the book, but no movie version really covered my mental image of the story. Then Patrick Stewart's version was on TV, and I happened upon it, and EVERYTHING was EXACTLY how I'd always pictured it. (Well, except that Scrooge never looked like Patrick Stewart in my mind... but every other detail was perfectly in line with my mental image.) That was enough to elevate it to 'favorite' status right then and there.

It was a three way tie...but I could only vote for one. So:
Muppets
Mickey
and Scrooged

I have not seen enough of them to vote. I have not seen the muppet version or the Picard version. Well now I am going to have to watch them.:lmao:

I voted other because I like the Ms. Scrooge with Cicely (sp?) Tyson. My favorite from the list would be the 1970 version. Watched it yesterday!

George C. Scott was my pick, but a VERY close second was "Scrooged". I loved that movie!!

"Oh look! A TOASTER!!" :lmao:

The George C Scott version is clearly the best.

But I also love Scrooged.
James Cross: You know what they say about people who treat other people bad on the way up?
Frank Cross: Yeah, you get to treat 'em bad on the way back down too. It's great, you get two chances to rough 'em up.

I love all versions! I have watched 4 different versions so far since Thanksgiving. :lmao:

Mr Magoo is my favorite. After that I love Scrooge, the Stingiest Man in Town. This was a musical teleplay which appeared in the early 60s with Basil Rathbone as Scrooge and is available as a play.

My next favorite is Scrooge, the Musical with Kelsey Grammer as Scrooge. Jessie L Martin plays a great Ghost of Christmas Present. Alan Menken wrote the music and Lynn Ahrens the lyrics. It was just on Hallmark and will be on again on Dec 14 and 15.

The Muppets is great...just the right tone. I think Mickey's is perfect for kids.

Alistair Sims...that is my favorite.

I have never seen a Muppets Christmas Carol.

Vote goes for Magoo. Mickey's Christmas Carol is also a favorite.:earsboy:

I'm a huge Trekker, so of course I love the Patrick Stewart version! My DBF, his sister, and I all really enjoyed this new Jim Carrey one as well.

One not mentioned that I rather enjoy as well is "A Diva's Christmas Carol," with Vanessa Williams as "Ebony" Scrooge. Now, I will admit that the reason I like it is because John Taylor from Duran Duran plays *belch* Steve, the Ghost of Christmas Present ("No, just Steve; the belch is silent") :teeth:

Patrick Stewart! We have a recording of his one-man show reading the abridged Christmas carol (had it on a copied cassette tape from the early 1990's until we finally bought the CD!). The movie is very well done (my DH musician especially likes the authentic instruments!).

I also splurged and bought the Jim Dale unabridged audio book -- it's amazing how much of the original book is left out of the movies.

While willing to see it again to make sure I didn't come with pre-conceived notions, I was very disappointed with the new Disney version.

I like the older versions, the original was made back in 1938, and one in 1951. I also like Scrooged.

There is another version not mentioned that has a different twist, with Susan Lucci as the Scrooge character. Ebby is her name and the title of the movie.
