i am getting closer to being able to make our PS for our trip in april. we want to have a few nice sit down meals when we're there, plus my reservations have 1 character breakfast included.

most of my family is vegetarian, except for my husband, who is an omnivore. i can't eat any dairy, cause it makes my nursing baby spit up when i do! although, i might make an exception and have a little dairy here and there on the trip, specifically for those beignets at cafe orleans!

any suggestions about where we should go? my kids aren't THAT picky, they will eat veggies. :)

thanks. :flower3:

My suggestion for a nice, sit-down vegetarian meal would be Wine Country Trattoria.

My suggestion for your character breakfast would be either Lilo & Stitch at PPH or Storyteller's. I'm not a GK fan at all. I have read that Storyteller's may have veggie sausage and I know they would be most accommodating to you with regard to your non-dairy needs as well.

For counter service I like Pacific Wharf Cafe for soups and salads in sourdough breadbowls. :)

I second what DangerMouse said. Although, at Wine Country I don't know what dairy less options there are. The Blue Bayou has a Mushroom and rice dish which is yummy if you like mushrooms.

We've only been to Lilo and Stitch and we LOVED it. My wife is vegetarian, while I am not and there were plenty of options for her. She loved the create your own omelets and the mickey waffles :) And I like the characters there?

There is a surprising amount of veggie food at the parks.

I will say, both times I have tried Storytellers for Lunch or Dinner it was terrible!! But if they have veggie sausage I would give it a try for breakfast!

CS-

Rancho- has veggie Mexican Rice and Beans so you can do a lot at this place. My favorite is the tostada it is big enough to share and very tasty with the grilled veggies!

Pizza Port- has lots of pizza and pasta dishes, as well as salads

Most other places have veggie burgers, not my fav in the park but easy to grab.

Bengal BBQ- has a veggie skewer that is really good!

Soup bread bowls- Veggie Gumbo in Dl and the Veggie Chilli in DCA both YUMMMY!!!!!!!!!!

TS-

WTC- is my favorite!!! They have several salads, veggie lasanga, and my favorite the Caprese sandwhich, it has cheese but its really tasty!

BB- Though others didn't like it I really like the portabello mushrooms and couscous, I think the spinach is the best though!

Ariel's has a really good pasta dish

Almost every TS has a veggie option and you can have them adjust stuff to make it veggie as well in most places. So don't worry you will find lots to eat!

The only thing I have to say is in DTD for the most part Jazz Kitchen (unless you like bread and salad like me :) ) can be tough for veggies, and HOB was impossible! With Gardenwalk nearby they also have some good after Disney places as well!

Have fun!

thanks! i am totally taking notes here! i had wine country trattoria written in my notes as a place to make PS. it is not too fancy for kids, right? my kids are pretty decently behaved, but there is no telling how they will behave after spending the day in DL. :)

i seriously think bread bowls are one of the best inventions ever, so i'm glad to hear there's a veg option there. lol.

WTC- is what I would consider a mid-level TS in regards to fanciness, you have higher ones like Napa, and Steakhouse, then slightly below that BB, then you have WTC, Cafe Orleans and others, it would be like eating at any regular restaurant in the outside world, but Disney is really understanding about kid's since you are in Disney! I would not worry about it at all!

You'll look for the Vegetarian Gumbo at Royal Street Veranda in New Orleans Square in Disneyland, and the Vegetarian Chili at Pacific Wharf Cafe in DCA.

Neither of them are very spicy, FYI, which I figured you might be avoiding with a sensitive nursing kiddo.

We adore the penne with marinara at Plaza Inn...just tell them no parmesan on top. Hubby and I get a side salad and one plate of penne, and it's more than enough for us. Though, going back to a nursing baby, you might be eating it all. :)

Is the penne similar to Ariel's or the kid pasta they use to offer at BB? I never eat at plaza inn and at some point I might want something besides WTC haha!

I have no idea about either of the comparisons, but it's just normal penne pasta, and then you have a choice of sauces. We choose the marinara and it is yummy.

and of course you can always just go in there and look around. If you don't see anything, just leave!

I dream about the veggie burger from Taste Pilot's Grill. It is REALLY good! They have that wonderful condiment bar so you can add tomatos, lettuce, pickles, jalapeno, bbq sauce, etc.

I highly recommend it.

I did not eat the veggie burger at Storytellers (I had the regular burger, which was great), but my friend ate it and said it was really good. But it was on the lunch menu, not the dinner menu.

If you are a big salad eater, the pizzetta salad at Wine Country Trattoria is HUGE - bg enough for 2 or 3 people.

And of course, the fruit all over DLR is excellent - at the buffets, at the random carts and at the regular restarants.

I have been told that the potato soup at Carnation Cafe is quite good.

oh, i love big salads. that is in my top 5 favorite meals.

thanks for all this fabulous info. it's good to know that the wine country place is OK for my littles. i guess i just assumed since it had a fancy name. ;)

it's funny, i can eat anything super spicy and the baby is fine. it's just the dairy. so sad.

thanks you guys! i wish it was time to go now, though.

The loaded baked potato soup is VERY good - but it has both cheese and bacon in it......

Oh, yikes!!:rotfl2: You mean the cheese and bacon are sprinkled on the top of the soup? If so, I would imagine a vegan or vegetarian could ask for the soup without those two toppings, but if the cheese and bacon are blended into the soup then that is definitely no good for vegans OR vegetarians!! Also, it likely has some sort of cream in it which is bad for vegans, but okay for some vegetarians.

Oh yes, that pizzetta salad at WCT is enormous. My one friend ordered it in December, not realizing how huge it would be, and it was towering on her plate! My other friend and I couldn't help her with it because we had our own food to contend with, but she was trying to pawn some of it off on us because it was just waaaaaay too much for one person to eat. In fact, she only made a small dent in it and she felt bad because it went to waste. So I would say that two or even three people (depending on how much each person eats) can share a pizzetta salad, unless WCT has made it smaller somehow. They also serve a nice orange sorbet (for those who can eat it) that comes in a fresh orange peel. Plus, a couple of the waiters at WCT there were kind of cute, so that always is a bonus for any restaurant!!;)

But if you guys are fruit eaters, those pineapple spears that are sold in verious carts around DLR are excellent, as is the melon and everything else!!
