Among other items, I am considering a UV umbrella for my trip this June. I am looking for something compact. Does anyone have a "go to" UV umbrella?

Coolibar (compact) - I like the silver reflective ones.

(Edited to remove link that no longer works - it is hard to find silver Coolibar compact right now, not sure why??)

I think an umbrella in a place as crowded as Disney would be cumbersome to use unless you have a specific medical condition that requires you to use it. You will constantly have to watch so as not to bump into others, in addition to carrying it around all day. I think a well designed hat is a better choice if trying to keep your face out of the sun in addition to using sunscreen.

^this. I wouldn't bring an umbrella in the parks.

Great way to keep your personal bubble tho. In these days people are trying to keep a distance but I can agree at some points you won't be able to open it. But if your gonna use it for when you eat or relaxing, walking I'm more open spaces it can work.

My family will use our sun hats for walking and 1 shared umbrella for standing/sitting. The hat just gets so hot sometimes and the umbrella really helps to feel cooler. Two in our family burn in about an hour of FL sun, even with sunscreen.

This one is 10 bucks... and very small. Used it last week at WDW.

If you just want it for WDW, there are a lot of cheaper options. The Coolibar ones are definitely more expensive. I use mine all of the time in the summer, plus other warm vacations. At the beach, at little league & soccer games. I have my original one from around 8 years ago and it is just starting to feel a little worn, so I got a new one for this summer (and going forward). But we'll still use the old one until it completely falls apart.

Thanks again!

I've used a compact UV umbrella at WDW for years, and won't go there without one. They're no trouble at all to use- we're talking about a compact umbrella, not a large hurricane umbrella. The UV coating creates portable shade that is an incredible help on hot days, and also helpful during those summer afternoon showers. Hats are no match for the Orlando sun in July, and they're also not very useful when soaked from an afternoon storm.

I have started to bring a small umbrella with me to the parks many times (when I remember). So much better to use for that two minute rain/storm. No need to take out poncho, fold/wet, etc.

I have also used it for a minute or two to block the sun - but not too often and if I am in an open area/no one on top of me.

I started using a UV umbrella at WDW regularly starting with re-opening last summer. LIFESAVER! As it gets more crowded, there are times when walking that I need to slow down to navigate around people, but it's never an issue at all when waiting in outdoor queues.
This one is great, despite the size and weight, because it covers two of us while waiting in line.

That one also has the wind flap that prevents it from getting blown around as much - that's nice! Do the afternoon rain storms in FL come with a lot of wind (if they are not hurricanes, lol)?
