I was looking at Kathy Smith timesaver lift weights to lose weight and Keli Roberts upper body and core. Anyone try these or have one they could recommend?

I never did the 'weight lifting' but just purchased The 10 Minutes Solutions - Slim & Sclupt with Pilates Band DVD. You use the band for resistance and it is included with the DVD I purchased at Sam's club for $8.99 (?) It has 10 minute segments for Upper Body, Lower Body, ABS, Total Body, and Flexibility. You can even pragram for your own workout. I really like it.

Shan - do you have an exercise ball? If not - get one!!

I bought one with a dvd called core something - anyway - I am so out of shape - but I know what to do - for one thing to strengthen your upper body - every chance you get - do 'wall push ups" are you at the sink? Do some sink push ups!! SERIOUSLY!!

what about that chair? put your hands behind you to grab the chair then lower you body - up and down....

now that ball - put your tummy on it... use your arms and walk forward - to at least your knees - then push up - goal? ball at your ankle!!

Now my fdil is very fit, runs a good 11 min mile but - when I did the ball push up she was shocked!! and now I torture her - she gets me to run - I'm going to work her upper body!

I also get her on that half ball thingy with 5# weights and make her do a routine... prevention magazine has something on the web for 5# weights and the ball work out too I believe!

also, check out your library - they have so many exercise dvd's try before you buy!

Thanks. One of those DVDs said I needed a medicine ball? I'm assuming this is smaller than the larger ball you are talking about Sandy?

A medicine ball is a weighted ball, it is about the size of a basketball. A stability ball is the big ones that people can sit on. Both come in different sizes.

What Steff said!!

I use the stability ball for doing ab and upper body workout - there are DVD's you can get that also use the resistance bands with them (I knew I told you somewhere about the ball exercise!! I was having a deja vu moment!!)

I use the medicine ball with fdil - she wants me to work with it on the stability ball - you hold it as you come up from a sit up, or you lift it straight up over your head, or as you are laying there you throw it to your trainer (your starting position is laying, but you lift up with the medicine ball!)

sorry to confuse you!!

Found a balance ball, resistance band, DVD combo on clearance at Target today. I'll give it a try! :thumbsup2

I have The Method Stability Ball Workout. It's awesome. It has ab, upper body, lower body, and butt workouts on it. You can try checking out your local library to see if they have DVD collections too. Mine carries a bunch of workout DVDs. You might find something you like.
