What is your toddler's favorite ride at WDW? It can be at any of the parks. Also, what ride seems like it would be for small kids but was a little too scary?

We are going in January with a 3 year old and a 2 year old and would like to know what is a must and what we should avoid.

Thanks!

Dumbo, carousel, magic carpets, it's a small world. My 3 1/2 did not like Pirates or Haunted Mansion at all 2 weeks ago on her first trip.

I have 2 boys who are 3 and 2, soon to be 4 and 3.:)

Their favorites last year were:

Indy Speedway (rode it at least 4 times)
Buzz Space Ranger Spin
POTC
Dumbo
Peter Pan
Carousel
Aladdin's Magic Carpets
Soarin
Figment
Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

There were many more that they enjoyed, but these are the ones that we rode at least once.

My girls HATED any rides that were in the dark. They are afraid of the dark. Some of the dark rides got pitch black. We went on some rides that frankly scared the girls to point of crying hysterically:

Winnie the Pooh
Peter Pan
Mickey's Philharmagic (They hated the water misting and wind and things flying at them!)
Jungle Cruise
Tomorrowland Transit Authority
Finding Nemo at Epcot

I knew to avoid Snow White and Haunted Mansion

If your children are afraid of the dark, skip the dark rides. If they are OK with the dark, then they won't have any problems at any of the Fantasyland rides. My girls did love Dumbo, Tea Cups, Its a Small World, Aladdin's Magic Carpets, the Carousel.

DS2 was 22mo on our last trip and his all-time favorite ride was Mexico in Epcot!! Triceratop Spin was also way up there. He liked Small World, too.

He wasn't scared of much - e.g. Haunted Mansion was fine for him, but it was also fine for DS1 at 2yo but too scary at 3yo.

Triceratop Spin?? If I'm thinkin of the right ride...wasn't that WAyyyy to fast and jerky for him??

Dumbo and Flying Carpets I'd say are fun for kids...unless they dont' like heights. Dont' do the 'bugs life show' at AK...my kids FREAKED at the fake bugs they have 'crawl' on you...

DNiece 2.5 loved the magic carpet ride, she did well on all of the rides we took her on. She asked to go on the boat at MK.

I have a 5, 3, 2, and 6 months. My kids all love everything that they can ride except for Barnstormer LOLOL. My DD (age 3) doesn't care for Haunted Mansion - but my 5 and 2 yr old love it (its actually their favorite ride! and we "go through it" on youtube every night before bed LOL)

DS3 favorites at MK were Buzz Lightyear and Barnstormer. Other ones he liked were Dumbo, Pooh, PeterPan, Indy speedway and carousel. OK ones were small world, aladdin and philharmagic.

My DS who is 2 (well he will be 3 in a couple weeks) LOVES these rides:

Nemo
Dumbo (only when the fireworks are not going off at the castle) :lmao:
Small World (his favorite)
Indy Speedway (he loves to drive cars)
Toy Story Mania (His NEWEST Favorite)
He loves watching the Lights Motors Action Show (loves cars though)
Cinderella's Carousel

Those are his favorites :thumbsup2
He just recently tried the Barnstormer at MK and he did a lot better than I thought he would...scared at first but wound up liking it when we were getting off (I think he was more proud of it being his first roller coaster) :rolleyes1 Not sure he would go on it again anytime soon though :scared:

My DD4 refused to ride most of the rides. She isn't normally scared of he dark, but if it was dark, she wouldn't even consider it. She HATED Nemo. She screamed and cried the entire ride (and she's seen the movie w/ no problems.)

The only rides she liked were Dumbo, Carousel, and the flying carpets (probably her favs.)

I knew better than to even attempt HM or Snow White.

DD4 loved The Seas with Nemo and TriceraTops -- she was OK with Spaceship Earth, but I wouldn't consider that a must-do or anything. She's really excited about Dumbo and Barnstormer (we'll do those tomorrow).

I think you're thinking of Primevil Whirl. Triceratop Spin is bascally the same ride as Dumbo and Flying Carpets (but in a dinasour).

Yeah, you're thinking of the wrong ride. Primeval Whirl has a high height limit (48" or something like that?). Triceratops Spin is the same as Dumbo but it has dinosaurs and virtually no line!

On my last trip my DS was 3. With the exception of It's a Bug's Life at AK, I'd say that all of the things I mention are musts.

I wouldn't call them "rides" but at MGM my son loved Playhouse Disney Live and Voyage of the Little Mermaid.

At Epcot he loved Finding Nemo and Crush's Turtle Talk at the Living Seas and he absolutely liked the live entertainment at the different pavilions. China had acrobats, Japan had a woman playing the Odaiko (big drum), and UK had a band called "Off Kilter" which he danced to :cool1: So don't be affraid to do an "adult" day there, kids can have fun at Epcot. :thumbsup2

At MK he loved Pooh, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Country Bear Jamboree, Buzz Lightyear SRS, Tommorrowland Speedway (he thought it was so cool driving, my whiplash is just getting better :rotfl: ) and Mickey's Toontown. He also got his haircut at the Main St. Barber Shop and got a kick out of the "pixie dust". This was definately his favorite park (and they had Toddler Time going on so he got to ride Dumbo with Stitch and the Carrosel with Goofy. They are not doing Todler Time this year :sad2: )

At AK, we did Kilamanjaro Safaris, It's a Bugs Life (he did fine but some kids didn't like this AT ALL), Jungle Trek, and again he loved the live shows "Finding Nemo" and "Lion King". Both are excellent for kids.

And don't forget about the parades!

Just had to comment that I like your name. ;)

OMG! Buzz Lightyear was a favorite among all last year. My DH and I also loved competing against each other. The kids spinning the car randomly definitely helped with the surprise factor as to who would win.

We are so looking forward to the new Toy Story ride in HS!

My DGD2 1/2 last year at 19 mos loved the Tea Cups, Dumbo, Flying Carpets and most of Pooh. I carried a small flashlight as instructed by other dissers and that helped her get through the dark times of Peter Pan and Pooh. She was bored by Its A Small World which really surprised me - couldn't take Mickey's Philharmagic. She loved AK and the Safari and the Boneyard. I am hoping that this year she will be better in dark rides... and enjoy iasmii more...

My son loved everything! He was nervous about Haunted Mansion but loved it once he realized it was more funny than scary! Dumbo is a good one though I have never been on it!(I was the one working the camcorder while hubby and son were riding) Winnie the Pooh is cute but by the time we took my son the first time, he wasn't to into it.(He was 4) We took him on Tower of Terror(Yes he was big enough) and he loved it! He is a thrill ride freak!!! He was so upset cuz he couldn't go on Space Mountain, Expedition Everest or Rock n Roller coaster so I told him if he eats his veggies he will be big enough to go on them next time!
