What are some of your favorite things to do at downtown Disney? Am I right that this is just a shopping area and not a place that you need a ticket for?

Shopping and dining yes - ticket needed? NO. You are correct. We love the ONCE UPON A TOY store, and the LEGO store. Ghirardelli has good chocolates (they give samples) and ice cream sundaes. We enjoy using the marina and renting the little boats, but the prices per hour have risen since we last did that ('06), so not sure we'll do that again this fall. Lots of shops. Good for sitting and people watching. Some minor interactive fountains at a couple of the entrances that the kids like to play in. It's a good down day kind of thing in the afternoon or evening, but nothing really to "fill a day" with.

We always stop at the candy shop I think it's called ( Goffy's Candy Shop ) and the kids pick out a candied apple, dipped pretzel, or some other kind of goodie.

When we were there last they also had someone playing dance music and interacting with the kids. DH sat and watched DS dance so I could do some gift shopping in World of Disney. It was one of DS's favorite parts. He also loved the Rainforest Cafe shop and the candy store, and the boat ride there and back from POR! Earl of Sandwich was great too.

...the Pin Trader stand (guess you can tell that from my title), World of Disney (be careful, the place is huge, you can easily get seperated!), and the Lego store (gigantic lego statues are a must see!).

As long as you don't go to Disney Quest or the clubs at Pleasure Island at night, everything is free. We do like to go to the movies sometimes when we are there and I want to say ticket prices are in the $10 range. There are lots of shops, several counter service places and several carts along with the regular tables service meals.

Our favorite things to do at Downtown Disney are:

1. World of Disney (you get lost in that store, and it is almost impossible to come out w/ nothing bought...so beware;) )
2. Earl of Sandwhich/Wolfgang Puck Express (awesome quick meals)
3. Once Upon a Toy (if you have kids this is a must, my boys love it there)
4. Days of Christmas Store (I love Christmas :santa: , and this is one huge Disney Christmas store)

There are many other shops and restaurants, and there is a Bibiddi Boutique if you have girls. princess: And a LEGO store for boys. pirate:
Good luck, I'm sure you all will find something your whole family will enjoy there. :thumbsup2

We love to have lunch or dinner at Wolfgang Puck's Express then grab a dipped pretzel from Goofy's Candy Co. Going to see a movie at the huge and very nice movie theater has become a more recent tradition. 15 yo ds enjoys visiting The Virgin store and hanging out at Disney Quest.

We love DTD also! :) Goofys candy store is always a favorite! we love the chocolate dipped marshmallows!

Earl of Sandwich!! My family went there last year and had the best sandwiches ever!!

Disney Days of Christmas was another favorite for my family!! Our Christmas tree looks like it was sponsored by Disney.

I noticed that no one mentioned the Margarita bar...:rotfl:
We love the Christmas shop, looking at the fake alligator outside Rainforest Cafe, Raglan Road, World of Disney, and that neat store who sells all of the refrigerator magnets..

We love the lego building area. The kids could stay there forever. It's nice to just pick up a drink from McDonald's, just sit down and relax while they play! Also, a fan of World of Disney and the other stores. If your son likes race cars, on the far side of DTD they have a race car (or they did last year) sitting outside. The stores over there are different...not as Disneyish.

Earl of Sandwich is our favorite stop at Downtown Disney! We also always have to make a Lego stop for my husband. :)

How about the memorabilia store? The store is crammed with all types of collectibles like pictures, autographs and items from movies.

We are going to be in Disney for 7 days, we will be doing the parks for 6 and 1 day in the middle we're going to Typhoon Lagoon, then to DTD at night. We'll browse through some stores , definatley go to Goofy 's candy comp. and have dinner. I think it will be a nice relaxing night.

Little Margarita Bar :goodvibes

And...over by the carousel, before you get to RainForest Cafe is a little shop where everything is under $10 I believe..
And..yes, Christmas shop is beautiful :)

When I went with my sister last month all DH wanted was a gingerbread mickey from Goofy's Candy Company. Its a must stop on every trip. And if you have the meal plan you can use the make your own treat as a snack credit.
We love Earl of Sandwich. Wolfgang Pucks was under reno in Feb when we went soo I didnt get to do that this time but it does have amazing pizza.

There is also the 10.00 store beside Goofy's Candy Company and that's always a little treasure hunt when we go.

Last time we were in DTD it was 8 years ago...but I do remember dancing in the middle of the street!!...lets see 8 years ago I was about 13 years old..yeah dancing in the middle of the street sounds about right lol!!

The only thing we DIDN'T like about DTD was Disney Quest. It was not what we expected at all....we were very disappointed and thought we would spend 2 nights there but decided NOT to go back.
We ate at Rainforest...call ahead for reservations since they are so crowded and enjoyed the shopping there.
