My home resort is SSR and we just purchased DVC. We are going in December. What are some of your favorite things about SSR and what are some good things to do when visiting other resorts.

Golf Course views, Boat to DTD, Turf Club, usually close to your car. Spending time at the pools (main and quiet - Congress Park pool has a wonderful DTD view, Grandstand has its own pool bar)
I find the more time I plan to spend enjoying SSR, the more I like it!

Hi, we have been dvc members since 98. Bwv and ssr are our home resorts.we usually stay at okw.

We have stayed at ssr a couple of times. We usually stay in congress park. We like the pool. Never busy. I guess what we like about ssr is 1. Close to dtd you can walk or take the boat.
2. Good bus system to parks
3. Great golfcourse

it shouldnt be busy in dec as long as you go first 2 weeks . Personal preference would be to ask for anything along lake overlooking dtd side.

We have never had any trouble booking ssr at almost anytime. The others fill up first i think. Since you have ssr as your home resort you have 11 month window for the treehouses. They fill up very fast.

I GUESS GOOD THINGS TO DO AT OTHER DVC RESORTS WOULD BE TO EAT!!!! AKL HAS BOMA AND SANAA AND NICE ATMOSPHERE.
BWV HAS THE BOARDWALK AND CLOSE ACCESS TO DHS ABD EPCOT. A FEW GOOD RESTAURANTS NEAR BWV AND BCV. MEALS ARE GOOD AT OLIVIAS AT OKW. WE FIND IT THE MOST RELAXING AT OKW. IN DEC YOU COULD BE ALMOST ONLY ONES IN POOL. MIND YOU IT COULD BE TO COOL FOR POOLS BUT WE ARE CANADIAN WE DONT MIND THE COOLER TEMPS. HAHAHA!!!!!

My kids loved Community Hall @ SSR. I liked lots of things about the resort.

Definately check out the XMAS decorations at the other resorts. The Beach Club has a Gingerbread Carousel in the lobby. The Grand Floridian has a huge gingerbread house that sells cookies, gingerbread house kits, etc. Wilderness lodge has a huge XMAS tree in the lobby.
Have fun & Welcome home!

My DH and I bought into DVC last year, and SSR is our home resort as well. We just made our first stay at "home" last month and really loved it. One thing we really enjoyed was walking from the resort to DTD. Granted, it can be a long walk depending on which section you're in, but at night, the view across the lake is gorgeous. It was such a peaceful and relaxing walk for us, and one of my favorite things about the resort!

One thing really good about SSR is that every room has a good view. We also enjoyed the walk to DTD. Lots to see around the resort and great for walks.

My kids also love Community Hall and all of the activities, they also like the pool with the slide. I like the convenience of the counter service for quick lunches or dinners. We also like the playground for the kids, this was great when it was too cold to go in the pool.

My favorite is the spa...very relaxing.

Pool... spa :cloud9:... Community Hall... Artist Palette... Turf Club... staff... overall relaxing vibe

We love the "feel" of SSR. We also own at BLT. Each DVC property has its own personality & we like each one for different reasons.

The quiet pool at Congress Park and being able to walk to DTD from there.

The Springs.. the colors.. the SIZE.. the main pool, artist's palate.. the fitness center.. It is my "home" away from home.. can't wait to return in just over a month!!!

Cool, you're going to be at Disney for Christmas this year!!! Good for you.. make sure you see all the resorts as they really are amazing during that time of the year. Our first trip to Disney for Christmas was this past year.. it was.. MAGICAL!!!! Have a great time!

The rocking chairs in Congress Park, enjoying sitting and watching the boats go by, or the Characters in Flight balloon go up and down.

Walking to DTD.

The Treehouses.

I am *this close* to choosing SSR as our Home so this thread was helpful to me. :goodvibes

I am still haunted by OKW and if I would like it better there but thats another thread....:confused3

I like that SSR has 6 hot tubs on the resort! :cloud9:

We spent last Christmas at THV and had an awesome time!

Lots to do and see, we love boating to DTD or walking around the resort.

The hot tubs are always hot and we spent many evenings at the pool.

We stayed at SSR last spring and loved it. The grounds are beautiful and we got lucky with a view of the water fountain from our balcony. I found it to be very peaceful. We stayed in the Paddock section and used the quiet pool there. At the time the theme pool was under renovation and I missed that. However, the quiet pool we used (and loved) is being replaced next year with a new theme pool. I imagine that it won't be as quiet when it opens, but I wouldn't hesitate to stay in that section again.

Good luck!

I enjoyed taking the boat over to DTD.

The food court and DVC shop is good.

Also like the convenience of having the DVC office there. I needed a new DVC membership card after my wallet disappeared from my pocket on my birthday at Disneyland and wasn't turned in to Lost & Found. I forgot to order a new DVC members card for our WDW trip and they made a new card for me in one minute at the office.
