Favorite resting spots

We are going to DVC in January for a few weeks. I realize we can’t “zip” around as we once could therefore, can anyone share with us there favorite “resting” areas. Last trip we spent some time on the porch at BW, rockers in front of the BC and Liberty Tree Tavern and the upper deck at Train Depot in the Magic Kingdom. As I recall shaded benches, away from congested areas within the parks, were a little harder to find. :)

There is a nice rose garden down by the water in front of the Noodle cafe and Tomorrowland. It is a square " gazebo" type structure that faces the castle. If you go down Main Street it will be to the down and to the right of the icecream parlour. It is not usually crowded and is shaded. Nice place for a coffee in the mornin'.

I traveled to WDW in June just a couple of weeks before I had to be hospitalized for surgery, and although I was ill, I did not know how seriously.

I took it very easy on that trip and rented an ECV each day (except the first one, big mistake) The ECV does make it much easier to get around and provides more rest and always a place to sit.

Otherwise, there are many resting spots and benches throughout the parks. Sometimes you might find a quiet area, only to discover it is a smoking area however, lol. Check for signs before settling in if you need to avoid those areas.

January will have a milder climate and not as hot as the summer months there for sure. Pace yourselves and I am sure you will be able to see lots and lots of the parks! Good luck!

Come on over to VWL and sit a spell  .

We own there and have come to really enjoy just hanging around. We even have a new tradition: check in and hang until the room is ready.

There is a great shaded porch at VWL with rockers, Iron Spike room is also a nice place to sit. And over at the Lodge there are lots of nooks and crannies to hide away in. Nice views and fireplaces, very cozy (which, as you know in Jan., could be nice). Get lunch at Whispering Canyon or Roaring Forks, or get dinner at Artist's Point. Or take the launch over to Contemporary for dinner somewhere on one of the Monorail resorts. Lots of fun :Pinkbounc .

I like the front porch in front of Tony's restaurant. Depending on the time of day, it may not be that shady, but there are rockers there and in January the air should be cool enough to counteract the sun.
My DD and DM are getting older, and they can't do "commando Disney" anymore either, so we're always on the lookout for shady spaces. IMHO, there are not enough! I think that WDW needs more benches and porches, and not give so much prime shady space to smoking areas. I guess they didn't want the smokers getting melanoma along with lung diseases!

Actually I should say more because if you haven't been there you don't know. :confused3
Everything at VB a is short walk. The Lobby area is (as all DVC) warm (or cool) and cozy. There are plenty of rocking chairs outside both ends of the lobby. There is a large flat grassy area between the hotel and the ocean that is used for games and fun and it is relaxing to just watch the kids (and parents) play. The beach is right there. The front of the hotel faces a roadway and the property across the street is part of the resort and there is a small lake with a high spraying fountain in the middle, picnic tables, and a nature walk around it. It is very quiet over there and Disney put a tunnel under the roadway so guests don't have to cross the street. The second floor lounge has a wonderful huge balcony the gives you just the best view of the ocean while sipping that cool drink. RELAX... Your home

Hi we love to relax at Caseys on Main street. We get some lunch (2pm) and relax. Our DD's love to follow the ducks around and we love to people watch. We can have a great view of the Castle and some of the Air cond filters out to where we sit.
In Epcot we love to hang out by the dancing fountains! Again the kids have a great time and we get to enjoy watching all the kids chasing the water.
In Mgm our favorite place is in front of the dino in the small lake (by Bill and Min's) the kids like to pretend they are Erin (from disney ad video).
In Animal Kindom we love to watch the African dancers and drumers that are preforming. I can't remember the restaurant name but it is near the Safari. Just hanging out by the tree of life is relaxing too! Have fun finding all the wonderful rest spots!

Sitting on one of those swings at the beach in front of the beach club! Delightful! (I'm sure Simba's Mom would agree!!)

AK - eating or just relaxing at one of the tables down near the lake at the Flame Tree Barbeque.

Ah, yes-I love those rockers on the beach. You can take off your shoes and squish your toes in the sand. Also, if you're in MK, take the raft to TSI, grab a rocking chair, and rest. In AK, take the pathway behind the FP machines at ITTBAB, there are benches back there to rest-very quiet!

I second TSI. It's amazing that it can be so hustle and bustle at MK but on TSI you are in your own little world.

Some other nice areas to relax at WDW:

* Almost anywhere at OKW. The whole resort makes me want to take a nap (and I mean that in the best possible way)
* At Epcot, the area near the hedge maze in the UK. It is a nice quiet area with great music playing. Sit on a bench and rest a while.
* At AK, the eating area near Flame Tree Barbecue is nice. So are the "hidden" paths behind the Tree of Life.
* At MK, another nice spot to relax is on the train. You can ride around and around and you don't have to get off (well, when they close you do).
* At Disney Studios, near the lake on the left as you enter. There are some nice benches to watch people go by.
