I've been reading yelp and tripadvisor reviews all morning and I now know that looking at photos of food makes me really hungry! I haven't been to WDW in 10 years and BH has never been so I'm looking for recommendations!

We are a family of 4, DD 15 & DD 14. At home, we really enjoy sushi, steaks and pizza, but we are open to all and we (I) try to lean towards the healthier side of eating (less greasy, fried options).

I'm looking for recommendations for breakfast, lunch and dinner, both in and out of the parks, from what you would consider restaurants "not-to-miss".

I'm looking for better food than ambiance, but both is definitely a plus!

TIA!

There are frequently these type of posts. Inevitably each and every restaurant is someone's most favorite and the very same restaurants is someone else's least favorite.
We all have individual likes and dislikes.

As an example look at the current thread here titled "What's your least favorite popular restaurant"

Check out Sanaa and Boma at Animal Kingdom. 50's prime time has a lot of fried foods so I would stay away from that option. Teppan Edo is a hugely popular hibachi place (i.e. "japanese steakhouse"). There are a few blogs on how to eat healthy at WDW. I'm ditching my diet because, VACATION.

These are all great options for dining outside the parks:
Chef Mickey's for breakfast at the Contemporary is almost like a rite of passage in my eyes. You can't have a more Disney vacationy breakfast than that!
Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' in Disney Springs for lunch was one of my favorite meals to date. Good ole southern flavors taken to a whole other level. Decent prices too.
'Ohana Dinner at the Poly is a MUST DO. The bread pudding is life changing.

I think you're best off just reading about all the different options. What one person loves, another may hate. For example, people here love lunch at BOG. Atmosphere aside (I hate it, many love it), I think the food is absolutely vile at lunch. If I were basing my reviews on quality of food alone, most restaurants at WDW fail miserably, with very few exceptions. The menus (I haven't tried any yet) at their newer places like Skippers Canteen, and the QS that will open with Pandora are some of the most imaginative and varied on property, aside from the offerings at AKL.

Our kids are a bit older than yours, though we've been going for years. With respect to 1 dining plan credit table service places, I'd generally avoid all Disney buffets/character meals if you are looking for quality food. Boma isn't bad for a buffet and has a lot of different options but it is still lower-quality in many instances. Non-buffet places that we like include Teppan Edo (similar to Benihana), which is good and relatively healthy, at least in the sense that nothing is fried. Chefs de France has some pretty good options, but can be really loud when busy (as can many Disney places). I'd consider lunch instead of dinner since it may be quieter and the menu is the same. Be Our Guest is hit or miss in my opinion. Feels like you are there more for the atmosphere (which is amazing) than the food. We've had pretty good food at The Wave, Raglan Road (though my wife didn't like it) and San Angel Inn. Via Napoli has some decent pizza and good sangria, but I'd ask to sit outside if possible because again really noisy. We sat outside at sundown and it was really nice. Signatures are almost always going to have better food than table service but they are much more expensive (usually $40+ per person for just the entree) or 2 credits on the dining plan. For signatures we enjoyed both Narcoossee's and Yachtsman and would return.

Boma's breakfast buffet is my favorite breakfast (followed closely by the French pastry shop in WS). Lunch-Sanaa, Biergarten, Nine Dragons (honest!), Olivia's, dinner-Tangerine Cafe (any time for that one). We do TS at lunchtime, so can't think of any TS dinners.

A lot of the restaurants in WDW are very underwhelming, especially if you are a bit of a foodie. It's totally understandable with the massive amount of people that they have to feed, and the time in which they have to turn them over. It's a pretty tall task to keep up to high standards under those conditions. I would avoid anything buffet. Most of the quick service places are passable, and compare about equally to fast food places on the "outside". That being said, this is a short list of places that I would eat at even if they weren't inside of WDW.

Kona - Located inside Poly is a casual café type atmosphere. The menu is Asian - Pacific with some sushi, noodle bowls, potstickers, etc... Breakfast is excellent here too.
Flame Tree BBQ - Located in AK. This is my favorite lunch spot in all of WDW. Smoked meats and traditional sides. Not a huge menu, but tasty, and if you smell it...you gotta have it.
Yachtsman Steakhouse - Located in the Yacht Club. Traditional steakhouse menu. I haven't tried them all, but this is my favorite steak place in WDW, even over LeCellier.
Mama Melrose's - Located in HS. Typical American style Italian menu, but done well in a nice atmosphere.

Rule of thumb for us, if we want good food, is to stick with the signature restaurants or resort restaurants (or signatures IN resorts! LOL!) For sushi - go to Kimono's at the Swan (if not on the DDP). bluezoo at Dolphin is also fantastic. For signatures, we like Tiffins, Artist Point, Monsieur Paul, the Boathouse and Cali Grill. For more casual restaurants, we like the Wave, Capt Grille and Trattoria al Forno (all at resorts). The only in-park 1 TS restaurant we like is Spice Road Table in EP.

Boma! My son is 15 and that is the one restaurant he requests every single trip. He isn't even an adventurous eater but he LOVES all the different items at Boma. He is spending just one night with us on our house hunting trip in June and when I told him I would get an ADR anywhere we wanted for dinner that night he immediately said "Boma."

Raglan Road (the bread pudding!), Le Cellier, Crystal Palace breakfast. We're trying a bunch of new places this time and I'm very excited!

Thank you all so much for your opinions! Some restaurants that were mentioned I hadn't even heard of! I did do some reading through other threads prior to asking and I do realize that everyone has differing opinions, but the more I see a place positively (and currently) mentioned, I feel better if considering. Also the same reasons I use yelp and tripadvisor, I know not everyone will have the same experience but it's nice to have a firsthand account, especially because things in DW can change so quickly.

Thanks again!

As a PP said, you'll hear everything, because everyone's taste are different. For instance, I wouldn't take money to eat at Ohana, but others here already consider it a must do. I hate eating at noisy places. Other people loves the schticks that come with many WDW eateries. Ask the kids if they're ok with buffets, want characters, etc. For great food, here's my list:

V&A
Bluezoo - every trip, often multiple times or at least multiple cocktail lounge trips
FF
CA (I enjoy the sushi there and the view, but Kiminos has the best sushi on property)
MP
Il Muliano
Spice Road Table - pretty much now my favorite relaxing lunch place, tapas and cocktails by the water in Epcot kinda removed from the traffic right outside? SIGN ME UP.

Have a BLAST!

Chefs de France, Via Napoli and Ohana are repeat favorites for me on the TS side.

I love Sunshine Seasons in Epcot as a Quick Service option. Great variety of choices and good food.

I'm also a huge fan of BOG. I've eaten all 3 meals there and had great experiences each time. I know it's not everyone's favorite but definitely a must in my opinion.

The Plaza.

We love the food choices and the "quaint" setting. Overall the ambience is right up our alley as Main Street USA is one of our favourite spots in all the parks.
