Hello! I'm getting married in April of 2009 at Walt Disney World, and we are going to have to pick a resort from the value, moderate, and deluxe categories to save a block of rooms for our guests! I have not been to Disney since i was a little girl, and I don't think we even stayed at the resort, so I have no clue what to pick! What is everyone's favorites and why? Is there any resorts that you didn't like? I'd love to hear everyone's recommendations! Thanks!! :):cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Congratulations!

You're going to get a lot of different answers to your question, because so many folks here have strong opinions about particular resorts. We have our favorites, too, but since we've never stayed at a Deluxe, it wouldn't be fair for me to make a recommendation.

I do have one suggestion, though. You may want to try to have all three resorts in one area. Since there are no moderates or values near the Magic Kingdom, you may want to get your rooms near the Epcot area. In the Epcot area, you've got:

Deluxes: Yacht & Beach Club; Boardwalk
Moderates: Caribbean Beach; Coronado Springs
Values: All four of them are in this area

Plus, you have the added benefit of the Boardwalk area entertainment and restaurants. And if you stay at the Yacht and Beach Club or Boardwalk Hotel, you also have the added benefit of being able to walk to both Epcot and Disney Hollywood Studios.

So, that's just a suggestion. Here's a map of the Boardwalk area:

Hi Angela.. Congrats on your upcoming wedding! How exciting that your getting married at WDW! :bride: Where are you staying? That should help w/ one of your choices & do you have a theme to your wedding? (Movies, romance?, Luau...)
Your going to get alot of mixed opinions as everyone has thier favorites... Good luck w/ your choices..
Here are mine from each catagory:
Value: ASMovies- we are big Disney movie fans and its fun themed... Moderate- POR- Great Resort w/ wonderful cm's, great restaurant, grounds are breathtaking & the boat to DTD is a big plus for my shopping needs :rolleyes1
Deluxe-Poly-I love the theming & monorail!

Again, many happy wishes & Good Luck on your wedding plans! :flower3:

WVParkfan, Thanks so much! That's a good idea to have them all together in the same resort area!

JRabbit, Thank you! I was thinking I liked the movie one because of the 101 Dalmation thing outside! haha, I know that's a stupid reason to pick a hotel, but I have no idea!! A friend of mine stayed at the Poly on her honeymoon and she has all good stuff to say about it!!

I have nooo idea where we're going to stay at!! I was saying a value resort to save some money, but my fiancee wanted to stay at a Deluxe... so I think we'll compromise and stay at a moderate. We were watching the Disney planning dvd, and we both liked the looks of the Carribbean Beach Resort, but who knows. I know I would LOVE to stay at the Animal Kingdom resort, but I just hate to spend that much money on a hotel room because I know we won't be spending much time in it.

Ang, Did you sign up for a vacationing planning dvd yet?!?? Sometimes when you sign up they will have your address in the data base and when you book your trip you can always ask the CM if there is a code attached to your name or address..This way when you book you can get some kind of discount for your stay. It doesnt always work but worked for my sister who has never been there and she got a code for 40% off her room.
The AKL is beautiful- we havent stayed there but my DH & I went there for breakfast and dinner and LOVED the resort. Its definatly going to be a place we would stay at on one of our upcoming visits!

As a DVC / BWV owner, I am very proud of Boardwalk and I would strongly suggest it. It is very beautful and surprisingly quiet as well as having several places to eat, shop and resort explore. Also, there is a wedding pavilion just before you go over the canel bridge to the International Gateway. I've seen over several weddings take place there over the years. All beautifully done. On our last trip at Christmas, I talked a young lady that had the night before been purposed to there. She obviously had thought it was special too.

congrats!! having a wedding in Disney will be so exciting! I opted to have a themed disney wedding at home because of my guests possibly not being able to get to Florida. But when i was planning it, i went through this same process of trying to pick hotels.

We had favored the Polynesian, which is where we're honeymooning. The reasoning is because we thought the Grand Floridian was a little "too fancy" for our style. We wanted something "more fun" so to speak. We really liked theme places, and we loved the Hawaiian style there. I wanted to try the Ohana dinner, and watch the fireworks from the Poly beach. Plus you have every form of transportation available to you there, and being on the monorail was a must for us.

My advice would be just go with what fits the style of you and your guests the most! I've heard that Pop Century is really fun too - I've never stayed there but I took lots of pictures when I visited it there! The price is great too.
