Hello Fellow DISers!!

I have 2 questions. Coming from someone who has only stayed in Studios with DH, we'd like to plan a family vacation and invite our parents and siblings to join us in a Grand Villa.

First, for those of you who have stayed in the various Grand Villas, which one was your favorite and why??

2nd question! I want to book a Grand Villa for next year. I assume that in order to get a GV, I will need to make the ressie at the 11 month window. That being said, if I want to choose a GV that isn't my "home" resort, could I transfer my points to someone else's account, and ask that they make the ressie for me? What would be standard compensation for something like this? Would I pay them a certain amount, offer them more points than needed for the ressie?

If anyone has any experience with this, I would appreciate learning from you!!

I have not stayed in one yet.

that say - BWV - when they allowed us the tour (long ago) - this thing was beautiful - plus you got a BW view!!! (now there are 7 I don't know if they others give you a bw view)

SSR next - the one I saw had a lovely view of DD - this was in Congress House - not Springs (the one they are showing now) - these will be all over the place - so it might be hard to have a nice view.

OKW is pretty wonderful!!! this is my favorite resort that said - I don't like where they place any of the GV here.

these are my personal opinions - yours could vary!!!

I have only stayed in a GV at OKW, once a month ago, and all I can say is WOW! It was soooo nice! The points are lower, also, than the others.

My home is BCV, but a friend mine's home is OKW. She reserved it for me, day by day, at the eleven month mark. I then transferred my points to her. She didn't charge me anything more.

I think everyone should stay in a GV at least once....you won't be sorry!

Good luck! :)

Hi,

My favorites are BWV for onsite DVC and the gorgeous Beach Cottages at Vero Beach. OKW would be a second choice but only because of the lower points. The views and overall condo style resort of OKW doesn't appeal to our family right now. Good luck they are all great, however. Also if points are transferred I believe they maintain your home resort status. For example, if your home resort is SSR and you transfer enough points to a member to book say OKW that member must use his/her points to book for you at 11 months. Those transferred points are still SSR points and an OKW ressie could only be made with your points at 7 months. Someone please correct me if I am wrong on that but that is my understanding.

We just came back from a 5 night stay in a GV at OKW. WOW! We were all very impressed. I have toured the ones at SSR and they are much smaller then the ones at OKW. I own at BWV and BCV and I knew an OKW owner who was willing to make a reservation for me with this points and then I made 2 reservations for him using my points at my resorts.

Thanks so much for all of the info!! We usually don't have a car, so I'm leaning towards BWV, for convenience of walking to Epcot (our favorite park). I was not aware that if I transferred my SSR points to someone with BWV points, that the points would remain SSR. Can anyone confirm this?

If the points remain SSR points, then does that mean that I don't have any way to get the 11 month window? I guess I could always book SSR at 11 months, and then waitlist for BWV at 7 months. Anyone have any luck getting a GV at a non-home resort??
