Favorite Poly poolside drink

I guess... I'll have my pina colada virgin! I don't drink. Can I order Lapu Lapu virgin? And what about Lava Flow virgin?

Yes the virgin Pina Colada is great and a lava flow is the same thing with strawberry syrup swirled in but a virgin Lapu Lapu would be just fruit juice.

You can have the lava flow virgin. My DD get these all the time. A lava flow is simply a virgin strawberry dacquiri and a pina colada layered in a cup. I get the non virgin variety myself. Ask for Rose. She makes the best drinks!

I've had some really good Mai Tai's by the Poly pool...um, not all at once, but during separate visits! LOL!

Sorry I forgot the Polynesian does them with the Strawberry Daiquiris and not strawberry syrup. I was thinking of the lava flows we were having last week. I guess it is easier that way for the Polynesian since they come out of a dispenser.

I liked them all - literally, I tried about 4-5 different kinds (a different one a day) and they are good but SO SO expensive!!!

Tell me about the expense! I go with my mom and my little DD. We go to the pool every day for a few hours. During that time I'll have a couple of lava flows, and my mom and DD will each get a virgin one. Our bill last trip was over $200 just at the Barefoot pool bar!

I was told by two separate bartenders at the Poly that a Mai Tai is a Lapu Lapu that is not served in a pineapple. If you are at the Pool bar, order a mai tai, or if you have to have the pineapple "glass", get a Lapu Lapu at the Tambu lounge, then refill it at the pool bar with mai tais. No matter what/where, you really only need one pineapple glass and then buy mai tais to refill with--much less expensive......(I think Lapus were about $13, and mai tais were about $8--roughly--so the pineapple glass costs $5! Recycle, LOL!!)

Do they serve "The Backscratcher" at the pool bar? Ok,maybe that's not the name but I had a wonderful drink at the bar by Ohana and it came with a wooden backscratcher. It was a great drink and the backscratcher came in handy to scratch the sunburn I got on my lower back!

It is a backscratcher, but be very careful they will creep up on you.

Jeez, now I know where eveyone spends their Disney vacation, at the poolside bar. Hey everybody, there are parks and restaurants too. HA, just kidding, at least I know where to find everyone this Oct., I'll just walk by the bar and start yelling "DISer shot time".

One of my most magical moments on my summer 2004 trip was when I was asked for ID after ordering a Lava Flow at the pool bar (they are wonderful - vacation in a glass!)
Of course as I remember she gave it to me even though I did not have my ID with me (I was turning 37 on that trip), but gee it was nice to be asked! Disney Magic

That apparently is the one that is now a Lavo Flow. It too is equal parts frozen pina colada and strawberry dacquiri. Very good too!

My favorite is the "Malibu Macaw" - coconut rum, melon liqueur, pineapple and cranberry juice. DELICIOUS!
