If I decide to splurge and have a poolside drink while at the Polynesian, what should I order? Do they have a "signature" drink? What do you suggest and why?

Hi..they serve Lapu Lapu's at the bar in the lobby. However, while I was at the Pool bar, I inquired about one...the only difference the pool bar did not have the actual pineapple to serve the drink in...she made it in a regular cup...I think they were $8.50..I believe the girls name was Lisa..she was really really nice....when she offered me a second ( I already felt a little fuzzy headed)..I said sure why not...but I thought the drink was a little too tart....she suggested that she would add some "grenadine"...and then the drink was REALLY REALLY yummy...we were only going to DTD that evening, so I did not care....

Do they serve "The Backscratcher" at the pool bar? Ok,maybe that's not the name but I had a wonderful drink at the bar by Ohana and it came with a wooden backscratcher. It was a great drink and the backscratcher came in handy to scratch the sunburn I got on my lower back! :confused3

If you can get the Lapu Lapu in the pineapple go ahead and drink it down. If you have a second, try to remember to put the pineapple remains in your refrigerator for the next morning's "hair of the dog." Man, those are smooth, but they pack a mean punch!

My fav is the regular pina colado. I do like the Lave Flow though. They even come in virgin so my little DD get them.

I love Lapu Lapus and you can save some $$ if you get it without the pineapple.

The Funky Monkey :earsboy:

I want to add a second vote for the Funky Monkey. The Lapu Lapu is a little tart and heavy on the alcohol. Also when we were there in August they were not giving the extra in a separate glass (if you get it in the pineapple) so that is a steep price for the size drink it is.

I noticed that last year. When I asked the bartender about it, he told me that they were cutting more out of the pineapple and the size of the drink was the same.

I can't drink rum (anymore) :crazy2:  , do I have any good options? :teeth:

The grenadine really helped to cut down the tartness...I thought the exact same thing about it being a little too tart.....

I think I remember having a lava flow and it being pretty good. I liked the lapu lapu, but yes it was kind of strong. I probably would have been really buzzing with it had I not been eating food there at Ohana along with it, hehe.

My DH drank his fair share of "Lava Flows" (some with a rum floater!) during our trip last year. The Pina Coladas are pretty tasty too! :drinking1

Absolutely!!! I had one while waiting to be seated at ‘Ohana and I was buzzing hard. I had not had anything to eat for hours (you know got to have room for all the ‘Ohana food).

DH and I had drinks poolside at the Polynesian this summer :sunny: He had a strawberry daquiri and I had a pina colada. They were excellent! :flower:

Here's a picture of our drinks from the Tambu Lounge:

I guess... I'll have my pina colada virgin! I don't drink. Can I order Lapu Lapu virgin? And what about Lava Flow virgin?

I had an awesome Margarita there!

Also late at night dh and I made our own rum & Cokes and had chips and salsa by the pool while our little boys swam till midnight!! HEAVEN:flower:
