This is pretty much the only photography forum I keep up with. Why venture farther when I can find pretty much everything I need here? There are two others that I belong to but rarely visit anymore. Both have good info and topics in their forums but I find here much friendlier and easier, plus the added bonus that everyone here are also Disney fans. The other two sites are betterphoto.com and photographycorner.com. Photography Corner runs some pretty fun contests from time to time and I actually won a free one year power account on smugmug thru one of their contests.

With all of these comments, I've discovered that clearly we're doing something incorrect here: we're not being rude enough! Apparently it's a requirement of being a photo board regular that you have strong allegiances to one camera brand and attack anyone who isn't on your "level".

Kidding aside, this is probably your best option. People don't mind answering questions here and there are wide ranges of talent levels (which can be helpful and also prevent things from being intimidating for newbies).

This one. I have learned more on this board then anywhere else and am never made to feel bad about questions I have. I lurk at two others but when you see people raked over the coals time and time again you tend to shy away from asking anything. There's always gentle encouragement on the DIS photo board and it seems unlimited patience.

This place has had its ups and downs over the years, but I think being connected with Disney gives it a leveling effect or something We are even nice for a Disboards forum if you ask me. We have had our bad apples, but they either tend to get fed up and leave or get banned. (you long term people know how I am talking about here)

We have also had our share of arguments, but we usually end up better friends in the end instead of embarking on some digital vendetta!

This one and an internal one at work. So many of the others look down their noses at anyone who doesn't have multiple bodies and collection of high end lenses costing thousands each. That and the whole Nikon and Canon holy wars on some boards. It's tongue in cheek here, it's not elsewhere.

Keep your tongue in your own cheek you Nikon fanboy.

Whats your favorite message board for photography? I would love to have a board to ask questions on so Im not bugging everyone on here all the time.

Can't you do a search? This question gets asked all the time. Quit bugging us asking about how not to bug us. Your problem is that your gear isn't good enough to discuss here.

This is probably the main board I come to. I also use Nikonians and Nikon Cafe but do more reading than posting. I know I sound like Ann but she taught me everything I know.

It is good here. Sometimes you see a question that has been asked for the 4 millionth time and at first you think oh no not again but someone will take the time to answer. I think we mostly believe the only stupid question is the one you did not ask!

It has also been really nice to see some really grow as photographers. You know Mark and Gdad (Jeff) might just get good one day! It is also nice to convince each other that feeding the photography addition is a good thing! I also like drooling over and getting the stuff I learn about on this board.

I tried dpreview. They were pretty rude. I like Steve's Digicams, so far.
