Favorite overall deluxe resort

It would be hard for me to just pick one. Since they all have different themes, the vibe is different at all of them. In general I would choose one that has more restaurants and bars but if you aren't racing back and forth to the parks even that doesn't really matter - you can always resort hop and enjoy the restaurants and bars at another resort.

We have stayed at all of the deluxes. Our favorites have actually changed over time as our priorities change. But one thing that has stayed the same is we like relaxing resorts and we like resorts with either walking paths to parks or monorail to parks. Our favorites are Poly, GF, and BC, probably in that order.

BC used to be at the top when my kids were young and slept in cribs and even when they were toddlers and didn't take up much room in bed. Now, though, we need a daybed for sure and that's only a request at BC. Also, a full balcony (preferably with a nice view) has become a "must" for us, and that's also only a request at BC. But if neither of those issues affect your family, then BC would be a golden pick for a vacation with a lot of resort time. Besides the awesome pool, we used to spend a lot of time on the boardwalk, loved renting the surrey bikes there, loved watching Illuminations from the bridge, enjoyed Beaches & Cream for a variety of ice cream treats, went in ESPN Club quite a lot....walked to mini golf too.

However, our current favorite relaxing resorts are Poly and GF. We are guaranteed a daybed and pretty much guaranteed a full balcony with a nice view at both of those resorts. We love the walking path between them, and it's so easy to visit the other one. There is great shopping and restaurants at both. Great views of Wishes at both. Pool cabanas are available at both resorts, though Poly's cabanas are at the quiet pool and not really private like the old ones used to be. And we do like being so close to MK as that is our favorite park nowadays.

Although Yacht Club is a clear favorite for us, I wanted to note that Poly was the first deluxe we stayed at and it was a wonderful resort, especially when our kids were younger and we spent the most time at Magic Kingdom (plus the wife and I loved the pre-renovation Poly lobby!). Now that we spend more time at Epcot, Yacht Club is simply a much better fit. And while we love the pool at Yacht, the Poly pool is very nice. Different feel and different benefits to either, and I don't think either is a "bad" choice.

For us, it is really dependent on the time of year.

Fall - Wilderness Lodge (love the woodsy feeling)
Winter - Grand Floridian (the Christmas elegance)
Spring - Beach Club (the convenience of walking to Epcot during festival time)
Summer - Polynesian (love the summer pool & marina activities)

I know....I'm weird!

We didn't really think that BC was crowded, although that might be because we went in April ...

The deluxes I've stayed at are WL, BC, GF and Poly.

BC is my overall favorite. The pool is fantastic, I love the theme and I like everything under one roof. The location can't be beat. We've only been there in the summer. The pool does get crowded in the afternoon, but never so much that we've ever had a problem getting chairs. The servers are very attentive. Also we've never encountered long lines at the pool bar.

GF comes in a close second. The pool isn't terribly exciting but the atmosphere of the resort and service there is great.

I love the theme of the Poly (and Trader Sam's) but the pool is just ok and it always seems so busy. Not a big fan of WL because the theme doesn't appeal to me or the location.

Grand Floridian is my favorite it is just so elegant and I think that the quick service there is really nove since the remodel. My second favorite would have to be the Boardwalk. It was just really nice and quite.

If you are planning on spending more time at the resort than at the parks you might consider an array of items: the season (theme spurs higher demand), your most frequent park to visit (travel time-MK resort if MK is your park), the theme you like (you are spending more time there), proximity to TS restaurants (might be an important aspect of you time), are you going to have park hopper tickets (provides flexibility to chillin), etc. Deluxe resorts also tend to get a lot of external visitors during specific times of the day which have potential to impact your thought or feel of a chill vacation. YC/BC is best at controlling pool hoppers. Most get a flow of visitors for the table service offerings while some cater to conventions and other want to just tour for various reason. Some come to just hang out at a deluxe and the season theming can draw even more. So it all comes down to what you define chillin, but we found the non-MK deluxe resorts to be calmer. When we chilled, we stayed close to the main park we planned on spending the most of our time. We also had park hopper tickets to provide us options in chillin and changing our plans whenever we wanted that would flow like park 1, resort CL, pool, park 2, CL/pool, bed.

We love the BWI but any of the Epcot resorts would be meet your needs. There is plenty to do in the area with the special advantage of being able to wander into Epcot for food and entertainment. If you are looking for the best pool then either the BC or YC would be the choice.

Wishing you a chilling' visit!
