Favorite "non-traditional" souvenir

This past trip I got what I think are my two favorite souvineers ever. From France in WS I got a perfume, Touch of Pink by Lacoste. And from the gift shop in the Castle I got a poster of Main Street at sunset with the buildings all lit up which I'll eventually get framed and hang it somewhere in my room. Next time I go I'm buying the Sleeping Beauty figurine, I don't care if it's over $200!

My Nana bought a Hummel from Germany in WS and my uncle bought a stien from there also.

My sister did one of the coolest things, though. She bought the ride photo from Splash, TT, RnRC, and ToT and we also got the CMs to take pictures of us in front of the Park centerpieces (Castle, Spaceship Earth, etc.) and is going to make a collage on her wall with her drawings of the buildings, characters, logos, etc., with the four photos as the centerpiece.

My favorite souvenir is the characture I got when I was about 8 or 9. We had them done in the Contemporary game room.

On my most recent trip, I purchased a cat figurine from Japan. I forget exactly what it's called, but the cats came in different colors with Japanese characters on them. They each signify something, such as 'good fortune', 'happiness', 'wealth', etc. You're supposed to place them near the entryway of your home or business in order to get the good fortune to come your way.

For us, definitely the approximately 3T-sized kimono we bought DD3 at Mitsukoshi in Japan at Epcot when we were there last week - we were in the store, just browsing through, and one of the salesgirls asked if she wanted to try one on - of course she did - and I have 7 of the MOST adorable pictures of the salesgirl helping her get all dressed up. Of course we had to bring it home - and I don't even feel as if we were hustled into it, the way they fussed over her and the look on her face as she was getting dressed is priceless to me, and for $39 the kimono is a much more special way to remember our trip than a few stuffed animals would be.

I'm also looking forward to filling the little "Four Parks, One World" photo album I bought - it will hold our 50 best pics - pretty traditional, but a nice thing to have for remembering the trip later.

Last trip I started a Disney charm necklace. I got a Tigger (my favorite) and a Mickey and a Minnie playing golf charm. Dh got me the silver necklace for Christmas. Folks can't always tell what they are unless they look really close (and I don't always want them that close to me!!)
Hummmmmmmm - what charms will I get this trip???

Where can we get the cut sillouettes (sp?) done?
TIA!

You can have them done in Liberty Square at the MK and there's also a cart in Downtown Disney (we had our ds' done there). There must be other places, too, but those are the two that immediately came to mind. :)

There are different ones from different places, depending where you are served. Its a cute little detail that we bring back.

Well, this wasn't something that I wanted to bring home, but when we were in AK, the girls were served their chicken nuggets and fries in these MIckey head shaped dishes... they INSISITED on bringing them home with us. DH caved, and I think we now have 6 of them! LOL They love them and use them almost every day! :confused3

Some of my favourite souvineers are:

cell phone canvas wristband with mouse ears on it

mickey mouse summer plastic dishware (so cute, and practical)

mickey mouse watch

tiny little clip charms that I clip everywhere (purse zipper, luggage zipper, cell phone strap, keys...) so cute!

scrapbooking items, stickers, mouse ear sizzors, stencils, pens

So much to shop for...so little time... :cheer2:

DW got some ankle socks that she really likes. Useful AND comfortable.

I like the car topper idea...we have a couple of the red white and blue ones. Only a LITTLE obnoxious!

DW also got a little Mickey necklace. It is not very obvious that it is Mickey unless you look really closely and see the three circle stones making the mouse head. It makes me smile every time I see it (and her!). :Pinkbounc

I have gotten magnets on every trip I have taken in the last 5 years or so and started collecting Christmas ornaments as well. I have a magnet and ornament from every park and only one resort. I didn't get either from POR and completely forgot to look for them when we were there in November. Since we are staying there again in June I hope to get them then. At least I hope they have them there.

Another kind of magnet that I collect are the advertisement kind from local businesses. I keep them on my file cabinet at work. Everytime I look at them I keep hoping that when I go in June I can find something like that.

I also took every coaster out of my room when I was there in 2002. I used some of them in my scrapbook.

OK someone said scrapbooking supplies...WHERE!?!?!?!?! I must know! lol Looks like I know where I will be spending my $ =)

When we went in November they had them right there in the gift shop at POR. I suppose you can get them anywhere. They had some really pretty albums and other supplies.

I have the album I was looking more for papers/stamps/punches/scissors those type of things!

I believe there is a scrapbook store in Downtown Disney.

I can't remember exactly what they had, it was late and we had just driven in from MD that day so I was exhausted. I will ask my DS, she will remember what they had. I know someone who had 12X12 paper that had Princess designs on it but I am not sure where they got it from. I actually have a Tigger paper punch that I got from a craft store. And Creative Memories has some Disney stuff as well. I'll let you know.

I just checked and there is a store called "Disney Wonderfull World of Memories" in DTD.

I LOVE our paper cut silhouette! It is framed and in a special spot in our home! We got beautiful handblown glasses in Mexico at Epcot last time-we will look for more this time too!

Let's see...some of my very favorites are:
Laila perfume from Norway
Margerita glasses from Mexico
Shilouhette's of DD and DS from MK
The Classic Tales of Brer Rabbit from the Brier Patch shop right in front of
Splash Mountain. I love reading these stories to my DS!

My DD loves silk scarfs, Versace perfume, and glass rings from Italy.
She also got an Italian charm bracelet a few trips back that she really
enjoys collecting charms for each visit.

Oh...almost forgot, Guerlain lip gloss from France.

All these suggestions are so good. I am going to need so much $$ for souvenirs!!!
My favorite is a large print I got from DTD called 'Walt's Dream'. It is a long rectangular print. On one side is Walt and Mickey holding hands in front of Cinderella's castle with all the 'old' characters around them. As you go down the print, the 'newer' characters that have come along are more faded out with the castles from the other Disney places in the clouds. I had it framed and put in my son's room when he was a baby and then moved it to my daughter's room when she was born.
