Favorite "non-traditional" souvenir

We also get fridge magnets. We are collecting them from every resort and park. Plus they are cheap!!

Also, on every trip we buy several beach towels. We love them and use them on a daily basis. They hold up very well and are soft and fuzzy. And they are just more fun than regular bath towels.

I have a matching set of small backpack, umbrella and purse (wallet) that I got in DLP. I use the purse permanently and as I live in Ireland get a LOT of use out of the brolly too!!

I also love Christmas Decorations and am looking forward to getting new ones in a few weeks time. Fridget magnets too.

I too am a magnet collector, but the most non-traditional souvenir I have bought was a mini topiary shaped like a rabbit at DTD.

Yes, the Disney pens from the resort are one unusual, but I have two other unusuals, (besides our myriad of cups, shirts, jammies, socks etc.).

I had the lady from "Gifts of a Lifetime" do a special thing for us when we took my brother and family for thier first time. She hid "pixie dust" in the Magic Kingdom and we looked for it and we each got a little bag of it. I keep it in my dresser next to my bed. (The drawer with special stuff like jewelry etc.)

The second thing is from the Fairy Godmother. Well, sister and friend (in their 30's) just HAD to meet Cinderella. Since this was an "impromptu" trip, our only choice was 1900 Park Fair. Well, we had the Fairy God Mother sign a birthday card for my nephew and she reached in her pocket after signing it and sprinkled it with the little mickey (I call it fairy dust too), anyway to not loose it, I put the fairy dust in my purse wallet and it's been there ever since. I kept forgetting to give it to him, so now it's been there so long, that it's become "a part of my purse". My special "take along" fairy dust from the Fairy Godmother. He's 12 and I doubt would care anymore!!!

Souvenir shopping is one of my favorite parts of going to WDW. I like to get picture frames to frame my vacation pictures and Christmas ornaments on every trip. My favorite uncommon souvenirs are my prints of the resorts. I have the large Grand Floridian resort print that they have in the rooms. My parents got it framed for me for Christmas a few years ago, and it’s in my living room above my sofa. I also have the small (about 8x10 size) pastel prints of most of the resorts I’ve stayed at. I have a GF and BWI framed already, and I’ve got to get the rest framed. I enjoy having a little bit of the Disney resorts in my apartment.

I'm sure my favorite isn't around any more, and you could never tell by looking it came from Disney. But back in the 70's we stayed at the Contemporary and I had pined over a sperm whale candle (pretty big, and it wasn't the fact that it's a candle - I have always been fascinated by those types of whales) in one of the gift shops. While my mom lured me off somewhere else, my dad bought it for me - and in our family, mom always did the buying of gifts, so that made it extra-special. I still have it in perfect shape, through about 7 or more moves.

Lets see..........Our most memorable "non traditional" souvenir was from our trip to WDW in August 1995. Our 2nd child was born in May of 96 ! Must have been some special "magic" in the air that trip!

My favorite souvenir must be those five extra pounds. I never plan on bringing them home with me but somehow they always show up!

I guess my real favorite is dishware from Japan. I've amassed quite a collection over the years.

My favorite non-traditional is my tea cup. There are no WDW souvenier tea cups, just coffee mugs. I finally bought a real pretty flowered cup at the Tea Caddy in UK. Now it's my favorite souvenier-whenever I want to really relax, I sit and have a cup of tea in my souvenier cup. No one knows it's a souvenier but me, it's just a pretty flowered tea cup.

My favorite is characitures of my DS6 & DS8..we stopped in France & a really neat French Guy did it..they sat there so patiently, letting him draw them, and the guy was really sweet to them. While we were there, there was one of those little shows where the CM's do cute stuff..its a magical memory AND Souviner for us.

I love to shop at WDW, and I'm a guy I enjoy having Disney things I can use in every day life. They have some really cool pens there. My favorite non-traditional free souvenirs are the paper coasters they have in the resort rooms. I always ask Mousekeeping for a few extra.

I have started buying my mother nail files from every trip. She loves them and has a little castle file in her purse. It is inexpensive yet fun and useful.

I forgot that my MIL and FIL went to WDW a couple of years ago as he was in Orlando for a conference. She got us a nice Christmas doiley on a hanger from Germany. We put it up every Christmas and have the dual enjoyment of knowing it came from WDW!!!

I forgot also about silhouettes...PERFECT! Might try this in June! Thanks!

We always come home from AK with an African bottle of red wine we save until Christmas Eve. We open it with our lamb dinner. It's no more expensive than a good bottle of wine here (in Cali), and we've NEVER been disappointed in the quality (which says a lot since we live practically in "wine-country-central-USA")!

All week long I kept noticing their purses/totes with the vintage Mickey/Minnie, Cinderella, etc. pictures on them accented in beading and sequins. I loved them!! The last day I bought the Mickey and Minnie Hawaiian looking one in tan and I love it!!! I have gotten many compliments on it and is not cheesy looking like some of the other things are once you bring them home.

My DD15 has been talking about these. The varsity cheerleaders in her school went to nationals and they all came home with these bags. I hope they have them in June when we go because I dont think she will shutup!! She also got Eeyore slippers when she was at DL and we looked all over WDW the next year and couldnt find them anywhere!!

I think we bought it on our first trip 11 years ago, and I use it several times a week. Minnie's holding her hands over her head, and boy do those fingers give a good scratch!

(This is actually DHSsenior007's mother posting, by the way. She was too young to want a back scratcher that trip. SHE likes the little silk purses from China -- they're inexpensive, great gifts, very functional! MY mom likes them too!)

I like to collect swizzell sticks from the resort lounges. So far I have one from the GF, WL and Poly
I also get a new lucky cat from the Mitsukoshi store in Japan (my favorite gift shop!)

Some great ideas here! I get the yearly dated flat porcelan ornaments. They cost about $10 and make a great memory on a small tree. I LOVE the antenae toppers... but alas the car I have now, I can't use them.. whaaaa!
