Favorite Non-Disney Race

One more vote for Space Coast. I ran the half last year and got a PR and just loved the runners, the scenery and the theme. Oh and the medal is my favorite (don't tell runDisney!). I'm hoping to complete the 5-year Big Bang series to get the extra two medals.

I'm so excited to see these reviews for Space Coast. I must admit, I signed up completely for the medal - the website made everything look fantastic, and it's good to see people here backing that up. I can't wait!!!

Anyone doing any of the Atlantic City April Fool's runs? I'm doing the 11k on Saturday--couldn't do the half-- and not sure I was ready to do it anyway -- because it's on Sunday and I'll be headed back to Disney with the DD and DGD that day! I'd rather get the feel for the race area (not that I don't know what AC looks like lol) before pulling the trigger on the half, maybe in October.

I haven't done the April race, but I did run the half in October. They put on a nice event. Can't beat the view. If I don't get picked for NYC I'll be back again this October.

I'm still a fairly new runner, but my first half will be the Nike Women's Half Marathon at the end of April - I'm really excited about it, the scenery looks beautiful and you get a Tiffany necklace instead of a medal!

I also wanted to do Ragnar Adirondacks this year since we have a house up there, but we're opting for the W&D Half & 5k instead!

Hi cfw213, Just a note about the Nike Expotique. If you use any particular race product (Gu, Nuun, etc.), bring it with you. Their expo did not have any of the typical vendor booths. There was a tiny booth outside, that sold very limited products. Have a great race :)

I love the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta. The crowds are very encouraging and their is various entertainment along the way from businesses.
I did the Hot Chocolate 15K in Atlanta and loved the chocolate at the end but that was the only good thing about the race. It was truly boring to run it. There weren't any crowds out cheering like at the Peachtree and most of the race was in boring parts of town.

I'll be there for the 11k!!

Favorite race is the Maritime Race Weekend (Halifax, NS). It includes the Tartan Twosome: The Coastal Sunset 5K will be sunset run Friday night at 7pm – which is one of the most picturesque times in the coastal community of Eastern Passage. Then you will return to watch the sunrise for the Coastal Sunrise 5K, Classic 10K, Scenic Half-Marathon – which will start on Saturday morning at 7:30am.

You end up with 3 incredible medals, 2 race shirts and other amazing swag. I've competed the last 2 years and have been blown away with it. Nothing like a celtic/pirate kitchen party (complete with rum cake!) to get you in the mood to race.

NYC Marathon. There are no experiences as moving has having people cheer your name for 26.2 miles.

I really hope I get in via the lottery this year, but I am not getting my hopes up. I'm not sure I have the time or money to earn guaranteed entry next year.

Oh, cool! Have you run it before?

Nope, this will be the first time. I don't get to AC often since it's over 2 hours from my house. I only just realized a few days ago that I am going to need a hotel the night before lol

The Maritime race weekend looks like a lot of fun. We live in Florida, but we took a New England/Canada cruise last fall and one of our ports was Halifax. We really liked it there.
I think I could talk my dh into going back for a 5k/half marathon weekend. He would love the pirate medals, and the rum cake!

Last years medals actually turned into belt buckles, and this years tech-shirts are glow in the dark :)

We must be on the same schedule. Did the Ragnar Keys too. It was a lot of fun, but it was hot! Loved hanging in Key West. Thinking about seeing if I can jump on a team for Chicago and I think our team may head west next year.

I'm really interested (but not ready yet for sure!!) in the Ragnar Keys race. I'm shooting for 2016! It looks like a terrifying and exciting and exhausting and exhilarating time! I know I'm going to be the runner that misses a sign and gets hopelessly lost though!

I did another half marathon this past weekend, which would be #4 for me, and it was just kind of "meh". I think I am spoiled with the Disney races!

I have another half coming up at the end of April in Long Branch, NJ and I have heard good things about it, so I hope it's one I can finally add to my "favorites" list. It's also good practice for Disney since it starts at 6:45! :faint:

Seahawk 12K - GO HAWKS! This race has pretty, rolling hills course, and you run around the Seahawks training facility, and players are manning the water stop there. A must for any fan! They also have a 5K the same day that my friend has done and loves, because it is completely flat. No players on the 5K course is the downside, though.

RnR Portland Half - It's not the fact that this is a RnR race that I love. You can do one of those anywhere. What I love about this one is the weather at that time of year (may) and the course. Of course, you can't predict the weather, but the past 2 years have been my ideal running conditions - overcast, 50s, and slightly misty. The course is great, too, because though it climbs up a hill from about miles 4-6, the rest of the course from then on is all gentle downhill, which I love. I've PRed this race both times I've run it, and hope to PR again this year.

Newport Rhode Island is probably the most beautiful race I have done. You are either running by mansions or water.

This year I am signed up for the Las Vegas half. I am doing the Wildwood NJ half too ... so that will be interesting to try those two out.

Meanwhile I would love to do the Myrtle Beach half...I love it there. I read about the Bolder Boulder which I am going to check out.

I just did the Yuengling Lager Jogger 5k this weekend, and I think it wins as most fun race! The race is in Pottsville, PA where their oldest brewery is and the course is HILLY. However, the last mile is all down hill and I think that's why my time was only slightly worse than my best ever. It definitely made up for the brutal first 2 miles. :thumbsup2

The race is centered around beer (obviously) and people were standing in front of their houses handing out beer mimosas along the course. You get 2 free beers with your bib, and additional beers were only $1. That plus free unlimited pierogies and free unlimited Yuengling ice cream made for a great after party! The only thing that could make this race better is a cool medal!

My favorite is probably the Hartford Half Marathon. It's rolling hills, but it is a gorgeous course through neighborhoods where families are out cheering and supporting (lots of little kid high fives) and through a park with the gorgeous fall foliage!

Although in 2015 I'm doing the Run the Bluegrass Half and I understand that is even prettier, so that may replace Hartford as my favorite.
