Hello Everyone!
We are planning a trip for November 2014! We usually stay at Poly but want to save a little money this trip and try a moderate resort! I really need suggestions on everyone's favorite moderate. (Especially the ones with the Poly feel) We are a family of 5 if that helps any! All suggestions are welcome! :)

We really like Port Orleans riverside. The grounds are beautiful and I think a lot of the rooms can accommodate 5. We are 5 and stayed in a royal room which is in a preferred location.
French Quarter cannot accommodate 5, Coronado is nice but rooms are small. Caribbean beach is too spread ot. Nice resort but very large. Hope that helps.

I could be wrong on this, but I think POR is the only one that can accomodate 5 in a room.

This is mostly right. The Cabins at Fort Wilderness are also considered a moderate, and they can accommodate 6, but you need to factor in a golf cart rental to your price/night. The golf cart is IMO necessary at the Cabins, and honestly, part of the fun of staying there.

OP, I'd say you're choices are POR or the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. Just depends on the kind of vacation you're hoping for. You'll have more space in the cabin, for sure. It's very rustic and scenic out in the pines, and very relaxing and fun in it's own way, but you give up the ease of QS and the walkability of a resort like POR. POR comes withe a smaller price tag, too, especially when you factor in the golf cart for Ft Wilderness. But I can't say it enough - the fun of the golf cart should not be overlooked! My boys LOVED it.

We are staying at POR for a night this April - I'll definitely be able to better compare after then. :goodvibes

We are a family of five and the only moderates that you can book for that many is either Port Orleans Riverside or upgrade to a suite at Coronado Springs for considerably more.

Have stayed at POR twice. last time at new years and our family loves it there. Gets my recommendation

The alligator bayou rooms can accomodate 5 at POR. We stayed there last year, and can't wait to get back there. Very lush greenery and gardens. Loved the relaxing atmosphere.

The choice really has been made for us, being a family of five also. We've done POR on our last two trips. (...and POP with the kids and my wifes parents the two years before that)

The alligator bayou rooms at POR are the only moderate level rooms that you can find that sleep 5 without spending a lot more on a suite somewhere (yes, even at the values)

I would love to try out a different mod level resort on our next trip though. When either my or my wife's parents go along, it makes things easier for us to try a different resort, since we all can't fit in an alligator bayou room anyway. We just get two regular 4 person rooms and one of our kids are in the grandparents room.

I've heard great things about CSR, and want to try it next time if it works out, and if the kids like the idea.

For what it's worth, we have loved POR, even though the kids would easily take POP as well. They just aren't choosy on that stuff and love both for various reasons. POR has great rooms with queen beds, but a more laid back (not Disney in your face) kind of feel, but the bus service definately takes longer, and the resort is HUGE so it can be a long walk to the main building/main pool. The resort is lush and beautiful.

We love the vibrant look and feel of POP as well. Bright, loud colors and fun theming. Double beds though. Good food court, but busy and loud. Very fun atmosphere. Very much Disney, all the time.

We are a family of 5 as well. We absolutely love POR. We are going in May for a one-night resort stay before our 1st Disney cruise. Gave the kids (17, 15, 12) a choice of staying in POR or AoA in a Family Suite. They all choose POR because of the amenities. They love the pool w/slide, renting a surrey bike, boat to DD, and just the overall ambiance. Worked for me because it was cheaper than AoA anyway!

Any Disney resort, IMO, is nice but we have definitely fallen in love with POR over the years.
