Other than the HoJo (already booked, just shopping around ;) ) what are your favorite hotels within walking distance to DL that will sleep 5 (2 adults, 3 kids).
I have found that more and more hotels won't let a family of 5 in 1 rm and require 2 rms or a suite. I don't mind a suite but many are pretty pricey.
Just curious about what others have found that they'd suggest to others.
thanks

We are booked at HOJO dec 11 through 16, however, I found great AP rates last week and made ressies at PP. Now I have to decide. I know at PP they have rooms with two queens and a day bed (so does DLH). I htink a regular room was 129 which is a good deal for on site....

Other then that we love HOJO

I really like the Tropicana. I have not done a suite there, not sure if there regular rooms will take five or not. Its been my favorite offsite place so far (have stayed at Hojo, Best Western Park Place Inn and Camelot as well). We did have a great stay at the BWPPI in a mini suite that would sleep up to six. I paid around $149 a night (this was peak season in June) AAA rate. Our room was spacious, two queens and sofa that made into a queen size bed as well. It had a small frig, microwave, large bathroom area and a spacious closet. Perfect for a family. I did like the Tropicana a tad better, it had a much nicer pool area, they let you take items back to the room from their free breakfast (BWPPI does not allow any take out) which was great since my husband and son could go get breakfast for me and my daughter, and it also had a few pretty landscaping touches around, whereas the BWPPI had nothing in that department. The Tropicana has suites as well but I cannot vouch for what they are like. Its also in the same great location the BWPPI is, right at the crosswalk there on Harbor.

That is a great rate for PP. We really enjoyed that hotel, if you can, ask for a theme park view room, they have two levels of that, lower and upper. For our lower level upgrade it was only around $20 a night more. And they upgraded us to the upper level for no add'l charge which was even better. But even if you go with a standard view room, its a fun hotel, great pool slide and the walk will be about the same as the Hojo one. And the monorail makes that even shorter. Its not the DLH but its wonderful and staying onsite (esp. for that price) is really nice. Good luck with your choice!

We also did the AP deal for the fall, but I also like the Desert Inn and Suites!! We stay there quite often, and there are MANY different sizes and configurations of rooms if you go to their website. It's clean, very close, and decently priced for being right at the crosswalk on Harbor!! We rarely pay over $100 a night, only when we get a 4 queen/2 bath room!

The only drawback (to me, may not be for you!) is that the pool and spa are indoors at this hotel!

(BWPPI does not allow any take out)
Do you mean taking items from the continental breakfast back to your room, or they don't allow "ANY" take out food "AT ALL" to be delivered to your room?

When we stayed there, we had take out delivered to our room twice without any problem. The BWPPI even provided us with the phone numbers of the nearby restaurants that delivered.

Maybe they changed their policy since we stayed there (about a year and a half ago)?:confused3

Actually I splurged and booked the concerige room for 189 a night. We have never stayed at PP but for this price I think I have to try it.

I mean you cannot take items from the freebie breakfast up to your room. They still definitely allow takeout, they gave us a couple of suggestions when we checked in. It just bummed me out when my dh and ds went down to get our breakfast and they wouldn't let him take any items back to the room for me and my dd. I understand if they want to police how much you take (I know there are people out there who will take huge amounts of food just because its free) but they give coupons, one for each occupant so to me it shouldn't matter to them if the food is eaten inside or outside their little eating area.

Wow! I'm glad I read this. We're staying at BWPPI and we always take breakfast back to the room for the kids to eat at these "free" breakfasts at hotels. I can't believe we won't be able to do that and we'd actually all have to go down to the breakfast and eat there. Definitely a big negative as far as I'm concerned. I just wish Park Vue Inn would extend their schedule for our dates in late Dec, early Jan.

Unfortunately, its a matter of firecode laws in most of these cases (for sure in WDW and the California hotels). So you need to find a place that has rooms with enough square footage to allow that fifth person. Which is why you have to go deluxe at WDW and at the CCI only some of the rooms (the larger ones) will allow five. I feel sorry for larger families because it does get challenging to find places that don't cost an arm and a leg!

We are a family of five. We have stayed at CCI in the Deluxe room or Hojo. Our Gc room also fits five.

We're staying in a 2-room suite at the Park Vue Inn next month. It has one main room with 2 queens and a smaller room off to the side with 1 queen. My husband, two boys and I will share the main room and my sister will be in the side room by herself. It only has one bathroom which we'll deal with. I think the cost is about $136 per night.
