we are going in November/December and trying to pick our hotel. 3 adults, 3 kids - 12, 10 and 5.

We stayed at POFQ last time and LOVED it. I've stayed at Caribbean and didn't enjoy it (so far to get my morning coffee).

If we can swim, my kids will want to (they will swim till it's pretty cold) so pool is a factor even at that time. My two older are GREAT swimmers but my youngest refuses to learn. (I will be working on him thus summer).

We need coffee ASAP in the mornings.

Opinions? Are there any refurbishments announced yet for those times? (When we stayed at POFQ our pool was closed but the used go,f carts to get us to riverside)

My absolute favorite is Port Orleans Riverside. We've stayed at this one three times and the other three once each. We liked POFQ but kept wandering to its sister resort. I didn't care for CSR and CBR was OK but I would want to go back to a PO resort.

Riverside is pretty spread out so you would want to request an area. I don't know about refurbishments right now.

Both Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs will have construction going on. Coronado's has already started and is estimated to last 2 yrs. All pools and dining options will be available but there will be some paths blocked off and visible construction. Caribbean's will start May 1st and will also last for 2 yrs. The food court, restaurant, pool bar, and gift shop will be closed starting in may but might be open again by the time you go. CBR is offering a $75/ night/ room gift card to all quests to make up for the lack of amenities during construction and should still apply for your dates. But both resorts will be affected when you go.

Neither of the Port Orleans resorts are currently slated for major work, but you may want to consider booking as soon as possible as they are filling up quickly with people from the other moderates that are switching over to be away from the construction.

POR is large and more spread out like CBR, although you can pay extra for a preferred room if you want to be closer to the food court. Honestly though, if you're looking for a smaller resort and a cool pool for the kids, your best bet would be going with POFQ. As you know, none of the buildings are far from the food court or pool and the pool itself has a more interesting theming with the serpent slide. I don't know when you were there last, but POFQ also has a kids water splash zone area with slides that your 5 year old would probably love.

POFQ is my favourite. :)

Where else (at a moderate resort) can you be a minute walk from the food court, transportation and pool in a standard room? Nowhere. The other moderates are just too big. Even when you pay the premium for preferred, you're not that close to everything.

I believe with 5 your option is limited to POR. PORQ is our favorite because of its size and its theme. As stated, CBR and CSR are undergoing major work

Looks like there's 6 in the party--3 adults, 3 kids. So I'm assuming two rooms at any of the resorts.

If you're worried about construction, your only choice will be the PO resorts. And I MUCH prefer the one bus stop at POFQ!

Major construction has put a big damper on CBR and CSR for a few years.
I'd have to vote for my 2nd favorite moderate = PORiverside.

We stayed at POR 4 times. I always felt it was peaceful and relaxing, the pool is fantastic, and the food court is great. You also can't beat YeHaw Bob. Now that we have outgrown the smaller flip down bed we have been going to the Beach Club - but my 14 year old just asked me if we could somehow spend one day at riverside.

I've stayed at POR, POFQ, and CSR. I prefer POR, primarily because I happen to like the theme/landscaping there the most.

POFQ is our favorite. We just like that it's so small that you can get anywhere without too much of a walk. We also like the food court, and we felt the bus service was much better than CBR and POR.

We prefer POFQ because of its size, but we sometimes stay at POR if there's a good deal. We can walk back and forth between the two, so it's no big deal which.

I've stayed at each of the moderate resorts and I've got to say that my favorite is probably port Orleans riverside. I even enjoyed it more that POFQ. I stayed in a royal room and it just made that vacation so magical

Thank you for all your responses! They've been great. I think I've decided on POFQ again.

( to those that questioned it - yes, we are getting 2 rooms for a party of 6)

I've been to POFQ, POR, and CBR; my husband has stayed at those and also at CSR (when he had a business trip). I'd probably vote for POR, which I booked because of the extra bed,and which I liked WAY more thank I thought I would. (We stayed in Alligator Bayou section; if we'd been in the mansion-y section we'd probably have gotten kicked out for too much eye-rolling and quoting Django Unchained.) POR has very nice landscaping and the rooms were comfy and a good size.

My DD26 and I are really going back and forth about staying in a Royal room for a nice little weekend vacay Nov 8 - 12. They look really awesome! Can you share more about why you like it so much? Also, we enjoy the boat to DS from OKW, and saw that there is also boat service to DS from here as well. Did you use that and how well does it work from there if you did? And, how is the bus service from this part of the resort? We are thinking of the river view rooms, not too much more expensive though wonder if it's worth it. Also hoping they have a convenient elevator as we'll have an ecv. Anything more you can share would be great!
