I want to know from all you Tables in Wonderland cardholders - what are your favorite meals where you are able to get your 20% discount? Meals that are filling & delicious, as well as friendly on the wallet...

I fear that there are so many price hikes on some of the more popular restaurants, trying to get people to see the value in the Disney Dining Plan, that some of the restaurants just aren't as worth it any more, even with a 20% discount. But I know there are some yummy values with TiW too.

So far, I think my favorite TS meals where I can use the TiW discount are Liberty Tree Tavern and Chefs de France, lunches at both. At LTT, my family finds generous, shareable portions of food (esp. turkey or pot roast meals, at about $15-18), plus the reasonably priced Tavern Fried Cheese appetizer (under $6), which is a must every time we go! At Chefs, there's a prix fixe lunch menu that includes a full 3-course meal for about $24 (closer to $18 after the TiW discount). Last time, I had the french onion soup, gratin macaroni, and a delcious chocolate cake slice with cream and raspberry sauce. Mmmm!

But let's not forget CS meals where TiW is accepted! My favorite is the soft, fall-off-the-bone ribs dinner at Sassagoula Floatworks (POFQ food court). They are among the best ribs in all of Disney! And at $8 and change after the TiW discount, you really can't do much better!

Well... at least these are my current opinions... but I'm curious what the rest of you think! What are your favorite values for your tastebuds using TiW? Help me find some new possibilities! :thumbsup2

We had some great food at the Music resort (all the quick service at the values are included as 20% off ..plus no automatic tip added).

We also enjoyed using it at Captain's grill. They have very reasonably priced lunches (and big portions on the fish and chips). Plus the dinner has a 3 course prix fix meal.

We are going to Bistro de paris in oct for our anniversary. They accept it there, but we were thinking of using it on the 3 course prix fix there ($49). I'm not sure if you get the 20% off with that deal...but we shall see.
Definitely gives us a reason to try it though.

oh, the prices at the pub at rose and crown are good too and you get the discount..but there may be no tables available and they still tack on the tip eventhough it's a counter service order.
but rose and crown restaurant is also good and reasonable i feel.

Well, here are some of my choices:

The Plaza Restaurant in Magic Kingdom. After the TIW discount it's not much more than eating at Columbia Harbour house, Pecos Bills or the other QS locations in the park. Really good food at a reasonable price.

Beaches 'N Cream. Good food, GREAT desserts, nice atmosphere and did I mention great desserts. A must-do on our trips !

Le Cellier for lunch. On one of our last trips there my wife and I had the burger, and my daughter had the filet with the cream cheese mashed potatoes. For the three of us after the discount and before tax and tip I remember it being around $60. We both agreed that it was one of the best burgers we have had and was so filling that we didn't feel any hunger till much later in the evening. Order it with all the toppings on the side - I did that and it was the most fun I have ever had eating a sandwich. Each bite was mix and match and different from the others.

We love our TIW card, but we have never chosen our TS choices on price alone. We eat where the menu appeals to us.
It will be interesting to see the responses to this question

Same for us as well. Eating food we enjoy is the priority and TIW makes those places less expensive.

While it's not that "wallet-friendly," I think the best value for the TiW is at Victoria & Albert. With 2 of us, the TiW discount paid for both the upgrade from a 7 day PH to the AP, and the TiW itself!

Given the "get the most you can get" mentality of the DDP, I believe that the best use of the TiW are at the places that don't take the DDP at all. The food at those restaurants is priced more fairly, and you tend to get better ingredients. If I'm at a restaurant that does take the DDP, then I find the best values to be on items not included in the regular DDP, like appetizers, soups and salads.

For good meal at a decent value, I really like Kona and Sanaa for lunch, Tusker House and Crystal Palace are both pretty reasonable for lunch too. Flatbreads at Mama Melrose's and pizza and Via Napoli, (can't remember if Via Napoli takes TIW though, I think they do,) Liberty Tree Tavern is pretty nice for lunch also. And GF Cafe and the Wave.

As far as a good deal and good food...I think the best TS is Sci-Fi with TiW. My family of six can get away with dinner for under $100 that's better than i can get in my hometown :lmao:

While some of the time we eat based on an appealing menu, hearing about a good value we haven't yet tried gives us more reasons to try something new... and if we find a lot of appealing meals that are more affordable, that means we have the ability to dine at TS restaurants more often.

We do the same thing, we just eat where the menu and restaurant appeals to us. That said, we found that the following places had reasonable prices to begin with, and factoring in the 20% discount made it even better:

1. San Angel Inn lunch (because I had an app for my lunch, and 20% came off of our margaritas!)
2. Chefs de France Lunch (because prices are already reasonable, and 20% came off of DH's mixed drink!)
3. Sanaa dinner (because prices are reasonable, and 20% came off of the wine!)
4. Kouzzina dinner (because the sampler entree was a great value to try everything and 20% came off of our drinks too!)
5. Kona Cafe dinner (because the entrees we like are reasonably priced, and 20% came off of the French Press 100% Kona Coffee!)

But honestly, we thought that overall everything was a great value. Even at our character meals, it was great that 20% came off the total bill. The fact that alcohol has the 20% discount is great too...no, we're not heavy drinkers but we do enjoy a drink or 2 on vacation. It was especially nice for the beer sampler at Biergarten! :thumbsup2

We also love the flexibility of the TiW card. No worrying if the place takes the DDP, if the server correctly deducts the right amount of credits, if we could get this or that as our entree, etc.

We love out TiW but tend to go to the signatures and don't really consider the prices as much as the dining experience that we'd like to have. Looking at it economically I would suggest Sanaa, Grand Floridian Cafe, Captain's Grille, Sci-Fi, The Plaza, 50's Prime Time. Olivia's at OKW, etc. In any case, enjoy your TiW!

Sanaa! Now there's one I've never considered... I don't know why I had it in my head that this one was a pricier one - it's actually quite reasonable - just looked at the menu. I think I'm gonna need to look up some reviews on that one. :surfweb:

We agree. Why would we ever choose to eat an inferior CS meal, when we can go to places like Sci-Fi & The Plaza for a burger or sandwich for lunch for about the same price? In our opinion, the burgers at Sci-Fi are the best on property. We stopped eating CS, when we started buying a TIW card. Now, we eat a TS breakfast or early lunch, & a signature dinner. It works out perfectly for us.

With the exception of the few CS meals that we simply love (like those rib dinners at POFQ :cloud9:), I think 2 TS per day is ideally the way to go, though I don't think my family's budget is quite up to the point of signature dinners yet. ;)

While we tour the parks, we often pick up a snack here or there, and that's all that's really needed to supplement 2 TS meals. And TiW is wonderful for allowing us to pick and choose whatever from the menu according to our taste buds' preferences and the space available in our stomachs!

I just saw some reviews on Captain's Grill, btw... looks good for breakfast or dinner! Very reasonably priced breakfast buffet (even more so with TiW), and the prix fixe dinner menu does look appealing as well!

We absolutely love Sanaa! The food was delicious (but you have to like that kind of food, of course), service was fantastic, and we sat at a table by the window. The boys enjoyed watching various animals walk by outside! Ask for a table by the window if you eat there...it is awesome! :thumbsup2

Same here...we prefer a TS lunch now, whereas on our first family WDW trip, we ate CS lunches and TS dinners. It was a pretty big hassle (for us, other opinions will vary) to get everyone's food (we have 2 little kids), find a table, try to find a place that's air-conditioned (we always go in July), etc. We find that it takes about the same amount of time to have a TS lunch, and we find the lunch prices very reasonable...even more so with the TIW card discount. We're going to try a couple of signature restaurants with the kids on our next trip, as we feel they are definitely ready for them! We were on a cruise this summer, and every night we had multi-course dinners in the dining room...the kids handled this very well, and they enjoyed every minute of it (and so did we!). So that was a good test! :thumbsup2

:jumping3: bumping... in hopes of more input on good values with TiW...
