What is your favorite lobster dish at Bluezoo?I plan on eating there my next trip and since it is an expensive meal I want to make a good choice. I do love lobster and can't decide if I want the surf and turf or cantonese lobster. If anyone has any favorite appetizers or desserts please feel free to share what they are also.
Thanks!!!!!:)

Hi there! We will be dining there again in May for our 10 year anniversary. It is a GREAT restaurant. Very romantic.

DH and I plan to sit in the lounge and just order stuff to share. We had the crab nachos last time and they were incredible, and quite a large portion. I keep hearing great things about the Clams Casino Flatbread (I think that is what it is called) so we will try that this time.

Oh, we had these incredible french fries last time...there were NOT your normal, average ff. We will be ordering those again.

Last time we sat in the lounge, we were told you could not order entrees there. But the waitress said since they were so slow, they would do it. So I am not sure if they are strict with that policy, but like I said, for us, we will be happy with a bunch of apps. We really enjoyed the cozy booth we were seated in and didn't want to leave it!

I have heard rave reviews about the Cantonese Lobster! It is pricey, though! Let us know how you like your meal there.:cool1:

Funny you should post this thread now! I've just commented on Todd's lobster. Not done nicely at all. Overcooked and not as fresh as the price would warrant.

If you want lobster, head elsewhere. If you want to dine a BlueZoo, have something they do well.

If you're looking for something they do well at Bluezoo, definitely DON'T go for the Vietnamese crab salad. Interesting idea, but very poor execution. I rarely have a dish that actually makes me pucker up, but this one was excrutiatingly sour. Bleh... Crab has such a nice, delicate sweetness that it doesn't need to be overwhelmed by sour pickle relish!

Cheers!

I wanna be on a first name basis with "Todd!"

LOL, I just thought that was sounded funny. :rotfl: So really, that lobster is not good? I thought I had heard good things. I would like to say I will try it, but for that price, I want to hear nothing but glowing reviews!

hmp-I am making a mental not to not order that. That sounds like a dish I would have ordered. Too much vinegar or lime juice, you think?

I don't know about the Surf & Turf, but we've had the Cantonese twice now & it was perfectly done both times. DH loves it, I prefer my Lobster in the good ol' NE style - Boiled, straightup with seaweed & plenty of artery-clogging butter to dip in.

We do love Blue Zoo. Our favorite meals there are Tapas style. In a few weeks, we'll be checking out the Cafe' menu in the lounge.

I haven't been to bluezoo yet. But we have reservations for our 25th anniversary. I had debated on the cantonese lobster, but wasn't sure if I wanted to blow my whole meal on this one thing. I know if I ordered it, I wouldn't be able to eat anything else. Two pounds of lobster is probably more than I could ever finish. So I thought that I would start dinner with the lobster and order their chilled maine lobster tail with french cocktail sauce and mango salsa. Then I can have a salad and a fish dish as my main course.

If your a lobster and butter person i'd say go surf n turf...if you want to try it prepared totally different then go for the Cantonese...it is fried with a sauce so the authentic lobster taste is lacking...but its still very good...It was cooked perfectly when we went...

For an Appetizer i suggest the scallop on short rib thing...oh so good...

Never had a bad meal at blue zoo…

Totally OT, I am sorry, but Wendy, your pictures are so beautiful, I swear, I almost got a tear in my eye. Absolutely exquisite!

Thanks for clearing that up for me.I was wondering who in the heck Todd was.:rotfl: Thanks everyone for the responses. I am probably going to try the cantonese lobster and if "Todd"doesn't cook it properly it will go back for the money they charge.
Thanks again!!!!!!:)

Remember: Cooked improperly and "I just don't like the taste" are two different things.

Thanks for the tip. I know if it's the taste I am not happy with it is my mistake but if it is chewy and improperly cooked I will certainly have no problem sending it back. The cantonese lobster has gotten some good reviews so I am willing to give it a try. The cantonese lobster is not one of your typical menu items and I have been looking forward to trying it.I may decide to order the surf and turf if I see some good reviews before my trip in December. I really am looking for opinions from anyone who has tried any lobster dishes at Bluezoo whether they are good or bad.
Thanks again!!!!

I don't think it's two pounds of lobster, I think it's the meat from a two pound lobster... where the two pounds includes the shell and the body and the legs and lots of inedible parts. I don't think I could eat 2 lbs of anything! Lobsters yield about 20% of their weight in meat so a 2 lb lobster yields about 6-7 oz of meat, a much more easily handled portion.
