Favorite Kid Activities Besides Kids Clubs?

My kids are random about how much they actually go to the kid's club but they are never bored!
  • On the Dream or Fantasy - midship Detective Agency is a lot of fun. It's also a great way to get to know your way around the ship!
  • My kids also love having a daily round of mini putt (Fantasy or Dream)
  • AquaDuck is a big activity on the Fantasy.
  • Watching a movie by the pool is always a must (all ships)
  • There's always a fun activity to join in on, like trivia or a game show, learn how to draw, etc.... Also the Atrium generally has something fun for them to watch or join in on.
  • We always have a Foosball match!
  • sometimes they will throw the basketball around for a bit.
  • We play shuffleboard once or twice a cruise
  • The pools on all the ships are not great unless it's a port day and everyone is gone. They are ridiculously small and over crowded.

The family game shows/trivia that are in DLounge in between show/dinner or dinner/show.

movies at night by the pool (usually with food)

basketball court just shooting hoops

ordering room service and movies in room.

any movies or shows

dinner as a family 😊

Thank you so much, everyone! We have a daughter turning 13 just before our cruise and she is SO SAD that she can’t go in the clubs with her little sister (it looks like she can do open house time but I’m guessing that will be crazy busy?) She’s not interested in Edge because she’s shy and will have to go alone and she’s not interested in video games or electronics or movies the older kids like, etc. She’d be happier with story time and crafts and classic animated movies and making cookies...

Diaper dash, etc. all sound great - she’ll love it!! Thank you again for your replies. 💕

ETA: we’re going to try and coax/force her into Edge the first night to see if she can make some friends. 🙂

if your cruise group is active see if she can e-meet some kids ahead of time. My older daughter (9) has had pen pals for our longer cruises and it really helped her find someone to play with.

I know it’s been mentioned before but we really like the family trivia games and things that happen during day on sea days together.

Your daughter sounds a lot like mine. She is the same age, also shy. She does not like Edge because she says everyone hangs out together in groups—I tell her that’s because they probably went to Icebreakers the first night, which she refuses to go to! I think I’m going to force her on the next cruise.

But there are plenty of other things she loves on the cruise—watching movies in the theater, ordering room service, bingo, baby races. When we go to the adult activities in the evening or Palo she usually stays in the stateroom watching TV, which she loves but I am like “why are we paying money for you to do what you can do at home?” :confused3

There is an ice breaker the first night. I've heard good things about people being able to make friends.

There are a LOT of family craft times. Sometimes I feel like we do so many family crafts that we don't have time to do anything else! My daughter LOVES these because we can do them together. We have made memory books, door hangers, window decorations, cut out characters, masks, etc.

Definitely get them to go the first night. My kids ages means they are always in 2 different clubs and one is more outgoing than the other. Kid's clubs are great but even if your child doesn't have fun in them there's just so much else to do! One of my kids lives in the club and the other one just likes the freedom of wandering and grabbing a pizza and doing things. Even with that, she always makes friends around the pool or just watching a movie.. playing a trivia game.. playing midship detective... anything!

I’m sure she’ll be fine. But I t’s good to have a list of things outside of Edge to get her excited to go. She really enjoys being with family so we’ll hang out together and hopefully lure her little sister out of the clubs to join us sometimes too. 😁

My daughter looked forward to Edge for years and then was disappointed that it was more of a hang out without specific activities. But she likes the grown-up activities like towel folding, she spends weird amounts of time trading pins in the shops, and one cruise she really hit it off with the girl whose family sat with us at dinner, and the two of them spent most of the time on board running around together.
