For years, I've always used Martin's potato rolls. But lately my husband has asked for something not as "heavy". He still like them but wants something different. He says he likes the ones that his mom uses (Country Kitchen) They're fine and all but.....eh :confused3 I don't really see myself buying them all the time. I've had the store brand and don't care for those. What is your favorite brand? I'll be buying 8 packs of them in a couple weeks for my son's graduation party and would like something half way decent but not too expensive. Thanks

Honestly, I can't say I've ever really given it much thought. :confused3

I can be picky about the hot dog or hamburger, but not so much on the buns themselves.

I buy the potato ones also but recently started to buy whatever is on sale. DH and I like whole wheat and the kids white or Potato.

The only thing is I wish they would sell packages of 4.

I don't think there is a Publix in CT Don't think there are any up north That being said I agree with your DH about the potato rolls Second though I like Nature's Own Brand

I just buy the store brand which for me is Wegmans. I am with the others....more concerned over the actual meat going into it than the bun itself, but I also would never use potato ones because they are too heavy for me and I really don't want to taste the roll, I want to taste the hot dog/burger.

For a party I would not worry too much about it, most people won't even notice what type of buns you are using.

For a party I would get a variety of buns to be honest.

Our favorite are homemade pretzel buns. Publix deli are a close second. After that we like either potato or the onion buns.

I think I buy Arnold sesame seed ones for burgers and I am pretty sure Arnold ones for hot dogs too....although I can't remember, all I know is I only buy New England style HD buns.

I buy Anzio & Sons Kaiser rolls. I don't know if there available throughout the country but I like them because they're slightly larger than normal hamburger rolls and they taste good as well.

Well, I am usually being cheap and just buy store brand for under $1.50 a pack! Like a PP said, I am very picky about the actual burger or hot dog, but not as much thought goes into the buns.

I do like the new England style Pepperidge farm hot dog buns.

They look good, how do they taste?
I always buy Country Hearth/Village Hearth Light Wheat Buns. I buy them in both the hamburger and hot dog size. They also have Light Italian Buns in the hamburger style with sesame seeds, if you prefer white bread.

The main reason I buy these is that they are whole wheat and only 80 calories.
I am not a fan of wheat but , they do look good and not heavy with wheat. How are they?

Never heard of them , look heavy.

I don't usually buy any white bread products anymore, so I usually buy potato rolls for hot dogs/hamburgers, whatever brand is on sale.

This thread just reminded me of another good reason I can't wait to get back to Maine in a few weeks...New England Style hot dog buns!:thumbsup2 You can't get that type of bun here in the desert. Well, we did find one fast food place (Freddy's) that does have them. I probably go there once every few weeks just to get one of their hot dogs. So good! So, of course, I would go with the New England style buns (Country Kitchen, Pepperidge Farm, Nissen).

OP, I have to say that I agree with your DH....
Potato Rolls are usually way to heavy, and sweet, for hamburger, or hot-dog buns.

I bought some that looked really good, and soft, etc... when I couldn't find the ones I was looking for. Actually threw half of them out.

Bread can be regional. The buns I like to buy actually have 'Beef Buns' on the label. The flavor is just perfect with the beef. Even though they are not fancy at all. Especially when I toast/grill them with a tiny bit of butter/oil before serving.

Maybe you could look for some type of sandwich rolls in the bakery sections at the stores where you shop? Like sesame seed sandwich rolls, toasted onion rolls, etc.

Good luck on your quest for the perfect summer burger!
