Hi Richard --
Have been diagnosed celiac for 17 years and a
DVC member since
2001. First I must say to you - never cheat. The longer you are glutenfree the more sensitive you become and you don't want to have to deal with a serious reaction while on vacation.
I have been pleasantly surprised with my experience at WDW.
I eat "clean" and don't fool around with sauces, etc. I have been
to the Hoopdedoo (sp.?) twice - called and spoke to chef and had
a great meal including rolls which were wonderful. I have also eaten at the Living Seas, Chrystal Palace, Thanksgiving at Wilderness and many different buffets - there is always something there if you are careful.
We also used points in Vermont at the Equinox and I called the
dining room there to ask about gluten free. Our server that evening told me that at the meeting before they open the chef told them that a gluten free person was coming to dinner and just what I could have. That was totally unexpected and made the evening a
real treat.
I have found WDW to be very helpful with our diet - I have been extremely hesitant to travel because of it but the food world is aware of our needs and I find they are helpful if we ask.
Have a great trip. We are spending a couple of day there in May and then having a Magical Gathering for 32 family members in August.
Thank you to Keokagal about the California Grille - we plan to eat
there in August and I was happy to read about Boma. I wanted to
eat at AK Boma and now I know I will.
Thanks for starting this thread!!!! Kay
