Hey all,

My DW and I are making our first trip to DL. We are both veterans of WDW.

Basically, what we are looking for are recommendations for 2 nights worth of dining. We will have a rental car, so we would be open to driving to a fantastic option.

Our time at DL is significantly less than what I would like. A good friend of mine is getting married in San Diego so our normal WDW had to be suspended this year so we could attend. At best we'll have a day and a half in DL and DCA.

Thanks for any suggestions!

We found out last week that Anaheim is NOT the restaurant mecca of So Cal! Our first night, we drove up and down Harbour and Katella in search of something interesting and ended up settling for a Chili's on Katella. Not exactly what we had in mind. After that, we decided to stick with the choices offered in Downtown Disney. We liked Tortilla Jo's for Mexican and Napolina for pizza. Ralph Brennan's looked and smelled good and seemed to draw a pretty decent crowd too. Next time We'll give it a try.
Good luck! :ccat:

We really enjoy Tony Roma's across the street from the main entrance -if you eat early and sit out on the patio, you can watch the fireworks from there.

At the DLR, we like Catals, and Yamabuki. But, if you have transportation the sky is the limit. The Orange County Mining Co. is a good choice, and there are alot of other small establishments that are awesome like Conca'de"Ora in Orange and this little Thai place in Laguana Beach. Let me know if you want me to look up names. I grew up in the area and could give you alot of choices depending on what your looking for. The Five Crowns in Corona Del Mar is over the top. :goodvibes :tink:

Mini's is great...you can also travel to "The Block" which has countless restaurants to choose from. It is a short drive from Disneyland. I really love Bucca Di Beppo, which is pretty close to the Resort area. It has great, famiily style food. If you are willing to tavel 15 minutes or so, East Side Marios in Lakewood is very good! We go there all the time.

We frequent WDW also and DL and surrounding area have far fewer choices. There are, however, some great choices in Laguna and Newport Beach or into LA. I would recommend, however, that since you will only be there a couple of days try Ralph Brennans at DD or Napa Rose if you want something really nice. One place I recommend highly is the Blue Bayou in DL. Since you have never been to DL and love WDW you should try it. It is a restaurant on the banks of the river of Pirates of the Caribbean. Unlike Pirates at WDW, DL has a longer river than wanders slowly through a bayou before the first drop. From the Blue Bayou you can watch the boats move slowly through, the crickets are chirping in the background and you can see a couple of cabins on the water. The food is very good and the ambience great. It is dark, lit only by latterns and the lights around the kitchen. We always try to get the first reservation at 11:30 AM so we can sit right on the water. There is always just the 2 of us so it is easier to get a table up front. We'll be there a week from today, as a matter of fact. Also, if you want a sit down breakfast when you enter DL, try the Carnation Cafe on Main Street. It will be on your left as you face the castle. Again, it is another option not available at WDW. There are many options in DCA, as well. Storytellers Cafe at the GC is also good for any of the meals.

Note sure what the OP is looking for. If it's fine dining, Napa Rose might be the best bet. Some good places that aren't in the $$$$ category would be PJ's Abbey in Orange ($$$), Chili Pepper in Orange on Main just south of Chapman ($ or $$), Mimi's Cafe right across from Tomorrowland on Harbor ($$), Lucille's BBQ in Brea ($$$), and, well, In-N-Out Burger in Anaheim and Fullerton ($).

Cuban Petes!!!!! Can't rave about it enough. Great food, big portions, amazingly low prices, and absolutely suberb service. It's over by the Sheraton and Super 8. Have fun!

We like In-N-Out burgers and we also like Bakers Square for a meal with pie at the end. My husband says the best deal around the area is the $5 large pizza at Little Ceasars Pizza. Debby

There are so many good options in DTD and at the hotels, we usually stick to one of those. But we have eaten at Mimi's (met family not at the park there) and In-N-Out is always a hit. For us, being IN the DL Resort means staying IN DL Resort. It just kind of adds to the magic, but if you have a large family, it may get expensive. Good luck deciding. :wizard:

There used (back in the late 80's) be a great familly owned place on Harbor called Belisle (sp) that served huge portions. A rum ball was as big as a baseball, the biscuits & gravy featured frisbee sized biscuits and a family sized salad bowl of gravy and the Texas breakfast started with 40 eggs any style. I haven't looked for it since we've moved back to Southern California (and I've had to count my calories), so I'm not sure if it's still around.

That general area is being redeveloped, and Belisle's is no more. There's now an Outback Steakhouse and Red Robin where Belisle's used to be. For that matter, I'm not sure how long Los Sanchez will be around, since it's in the same neighborhood at Harbor and Chapman.
