Favorite Disney thing to do...

I am so glad to learn all these things before I go unlike last time my family was like a deer in the headlights while we were there. Can't wait to get his haircut there, thank you

Eating a turkey leg, pulling on the Sword in the Stone, watching the parades, watching the fountain at Epcot (especially at night), riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at dusk so we can see the castle in colors as we ride....there are so many! ;)

Please tell me about the Sword in the Stone...the books I have seen are very brief on this. Where is it in the MK? Is it usually crowded? etc. I think my son would love this!

My favorite is spash mountain. I am so excited to go on it again.

my favorite thing this past trip was screaming as if I were in a horor movie when I saw that Yeti come leaping out at us!
I never knew I could scream like that!! :rotfl2:

eating fish and chips in the UK in epcot, sitting on the bridge and watching Illuminations!

can someone explain the flag ceremony mentioned by the OP? I've never heard anything about it. TIA

I have always wanted to have one of those turkey legs. We go to DL every week or so and we never get one. So, when I went to WDW, I swore I'd get one and we still never had one. So, I declare right now, that I will go next week and get one at DL!!!!!

And obviously, we now have to go to the MK hair cut.

our MUST DO'S splash mountain peter pan and hautned mansion. as for resturants id say... either 50's prime time or sci fi cafe.. both at MGM.. This yr we are doing fantasmic, illuminations, spectro and wishes ALL FOR THE FIRST TIME! i swear i get crowd anxiety every yr. right before these events start i feel the need to leave to beat the crowds. not this yr. im sucking it up like everyone else and going to wait in line for our BOARDWALK BUS!

At WDW -MK on the Castle side of the carousel there is a stone with the sword stuck in it. Great photo op of the kids trying to pull out the sword.

But I read somewhere that they have a ceremony every so often where a child is actually chosen to pull the sword out of the stone? Anyone seen that??

As for the flag ceremony asked about earlier...I hadn't read anything about it before we actually saw it, but we were leaving the park around 5pm one day (check park times) and saw a crowd gathered around the flag pole at the entrance of the MK. I believe there was a band playing, b/c I remember the anthem being played. They had a veteran helping with the ceremony. It was just very moving and something I want to catch next time.

I have participated in the Sword and the Stone Show. In fact my son was chosen to pull it out. It is throughout the middle of the day in the Magic Kingdom. Just be on that side of the carousel at the time that the map says it will take place. It really is a neat experience.

I need to go to MK on our first day. Seeing the castle first makes it real - and actually seeing Wishes one last time at the very end makes it bitter sweet too. I cry every time!
Me Too!!! that just makes the world all Happy again, no matter how bad your travel day was seeing the castle makes it all go away. And then I have to get a Dole whip!!!! And see Ariel, thats a definate :tink: :mickeyjum

For me the electrical parades, and fireworks are always awesome. Doesn't matter if it's the first time I see them, or the last. Nothing can make me get into the Disney mood more than that parade song.

Making a wish in the Cinderella fountain is also something I do when I go. The first year I went with my now wife I wished we would be able to get married, she wished the same. A few years later, we went back and wished again after the parade and fireworks. (Proceeded by a week of her crying, saying I said next time we could get engaged there, it was hard to keep the secret at that point) When we finished our wish, I proposed to her on the spot, she accepted.

Now when we go back in August, I don't know what to wish for since I got what I wanted. But I'm sure I can come up with something. ;-)

OK, I finally ate the Turkey Leg at DL and it was yummy. I went by the Tiki Room and saw Dole Whip Float on the menu and wondered if that is the same Dole Whip that everyone here is talking about?

One of my favorite snacks at WDW is those choc. covered marshmallows on a stick last time i found them a place in MGM but im sure they are all over the property. They are delicious!!!!
I also require my family that everytime we are there we ride Space, Splash,& Big Thunder Mountains as well as Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Carib.
