:wizard: I recently spent the day with my friends that i went on the cruise with over the summer, and we talked about our favorite times. There were 35 of us, and each of us each had our own favoite moment, with a few that we shared together that were to good to be true. What are some of your favorite moments from the cruise and why do you remember them? :earsboy:

It is so fun to do that isn't it... We recently have done that with our friends who sailed with us this past September also..

It is so hard to pick out something, hmmm...I remember our first DCL cruise was just the four of us, and like the last day (friday) our kids stayed in the clubs for the first time longer than an hour, and the hubby and myself got a tad tipsy  , boy that was memorable.. Me stumbling around deck 9 with enough wind to make me fall over, all I needed was the couple of drinks I had... Must have been a sight.. :rotfl:

In all honesty, there are so many moments that I could not pick out any inparticular.. The last one just stands out as quite funny because that was about my quota of alcohol in a years time... :earsboy:

In Antigua last year DH and I took a taxi tour of part of the island. The driver stopped at a dinky little roadside bar that his sister ran right by the sea. Sitting there and chatting with the locals was so enjoyable. It really gave us the "feel" of island life. I felt like the lady on the Travel Channel who tours the islands. What a great memory!

Dancing with DD at the deck party and sitting on deck 4 at night with DS looking at the stars. There were some memorable ones with DH too, but we won't go there. ;)

Standing in front of the wind screen in front of the basketball courts with my wife and kids while at sea, gale force warm winds blowing, just enjoying being alive.

Seeing an actual "Mickey Cloud" while on the beach at Castaway! My BIL and I were the only ones to see it and we were so awed that neither one of us had the sense of mind to grab a camera.
It was so postcard perfect... and no, we weren't drinking (yet)! :earboy2:

Sitting in a beach chair near the water at CC watching the kids play and seeing DH coming down the beach with two tropical drinks.

Visiting the place we stayed on our honeymoon and taking pictures of the kids in the hammock where we spent some quality time.

Coming back from the bathroom to where DH was watching the kids in the Mickey Pool. He was sitting there with four drinks - they were two for one!

Mine is one from my last cruise in January. Taking a formal picture with my family & Mickey. We took my Granny on her first EVER vacation at 74 years old. She was in her pretty sparkly dress and when she met the Main Mouse he grabbed her had and kissed it over and over. Then he bent down on one knee and held her hand for the picture. She was smiling ear to ear. I will never forget that! Pixie dust was in the air!

On one of our cruises a few years ago...DD was probably 7 or 8...and pre 9-11...we were getting off the ship at CC. We were on the elevator and just as the elevator doors opened, the characters came out of their door. We stepped off the elevator, we all stopped and Minnie grabbed DD by the hand and they skipped off the ship and DD got to stand with Minnie waving at people as they came off the ship onto CC. I can close my eyes and still see her face as she turned around and looked at me as the two of them skipped off the ship. She still remembers that and talks about it today.

And as the previous poster said, I did not have the presence of mind to get the camera out, and it all happened so fast.

Mine would have to be on my last cruise. We met up with a DISer who was staying in the Walt Disney suite. We got to know her and he family very well and are planning our next cruise together in April of 2007, the most memorable part was when we came into the suite and her DH was dancing ON the couch!!!!

Our serving team on our first cruise - simply Awesome!!

Having a ships officer join our table for dinner!! - Very interesting and what a great experience!!

Seeing DW up on stage in the Farewell Variety Show because of the kids and me pointing to her. And she is very shy and an introvert. Everyone knew what was comming (especially her!!!) and she did great!!! The next day while disembarking and on the bus back to the airport lots of people came up and talked to her about being brave and going up on stage - and they wanted to know how the magician did his trick - she doesn't have a clue.

Like TVGuy said - up on deck 10 infront of the wind screen in gale force winds (nice warm winds :sunny: not the nasty cold ones we have at home :cold: ). It's quite an experience!! You just have to hold on tight to the little ones - think Pigglet in WTP and the Blustry Day :)

2 Simple Things:

Hearing the horn for the first time (and really everytime after that).

Playing Shuffleboard with DH on Deck 4. We acted like kids again!

One of my favorite memories of our Christmas Cruise (and our first cruise ever) was seeing the boat for the very first time. We were riding the DCL bus from the WDW resort and our bus CM was super energentic. Our kids were smiles from ear to ear when the CM said to look out the window to the left to get a glimpse of "the boat" when we came upon a dinghy with Goofy in it. The kids were laughing as the CM explained that we would all have to take turns this week getting in and out of the little row boat. I can still see my son, eight at the time, looking puzzled at the idea and then laughing when the CM said "just kidding". The anticipation worked as we came over the hill and saw THE MAGIC for the first time. Of course, disney added the "when you wish upon a star" music by playing the song over the speakers, and my husband and I just looked at each other with tears of excitement. We were exactly like the kids - full of anticipation and wonder. The Magic was quite a sight!

Of course there are more...but that one just sticks out in my mind.

Ok, I have to admit that gave me chill bumps and made my eyes water...thanks for sharing something so sweet! :wizard:

Mine would probably have to be these:
1. The very first sight of the Wonder...with tears in my eyes.

2. Having the "Parade of Nations" in Parrot Cay on our last night and getting up and shouting because we thought we had the BEST servers...and then seeing a lady and her family who was very quiet and reserved the entire trip, get up and stand in her chair and scream and shout for our servers. I thought that was pretty cool!

3. And of course when we were disembarking...seeing the "See Ya Real Soon" flag overhead with all the CM waving goodbye :wave2: to us as we walked off the ship...Once again, with tears in my eyes!

There are way too many to list, but one has jumped into my mind, so here goes:
One of our cruises coincided with a Bahamian holiday. My husband and I were out on the balcony of my favorite stateroom, 5650, which is at the butt end of the ship. The Wonder was leaving Nassau, and suddenly we heard explosions in the sky. On shore, they were having a gorgeous fireworks display. I don't think many people on the ship even realized that it was going on. We just stood there on the verandah, watching the colorful fireworks lighting up the night sky as Nassau's lights receded in the distance. It was one of those precious moments when life felt so darned good! :teeth:
One of my other favorite moments, in a different way, was when a nurse shark swam by me at Serenity Bay...too cool!
Barb

of course I will NEVER top walking onto the ship for the first time (my heart was beating out of my chest and I was filling up)
But my favorite moments were:
1. Watching my daughter belt out Aretha Franklin at family karaoke (1st time singing in public)
2. Tropical night. The kids and I took an 11:30 pm swim and ate strawberry crepes under the stars with the lights and music. It was a night I will ALWAYS cherish!!!!!!

Sitting on deck with a cup of coffee watching the sun rise over the ocean! :3dglasses

Believe it or not my favorite moment was on the morning of debarkation. We had a verandah room on the starboard side (DCL terminal side). I woke up looking out the door at the terminal lights (we had docked). For a few moments I wondered if I had dreamed the entire vacation.
