With a three year old in tow when we go to DL in June, we plan on doing mostly counter service for lunch and dinner. We are going to do Goofy's Kitchen on our departure morning though. What are your favorite counter service places-and what do they serve?

Okay I typed a huge long respoonse and lost it so here goes again!

At DL we like Pizza Port for quick lunch/dinner. I like the chicken fusilli pasta and my kids like the ravioli kids meal. I know some like the pizza there, I really don't but the salads and pastas are wonderful.
Also I like the French Market for all white meat chicken tenders for the kids and I LOVE their French Dip but it's only served at lunch

At DCA I like the Sourdough Breadbowl place! The broccoli and cheese breadbowl is great and so is the Chicken Salad bowl. I usually go right across from there and get the kids burrito kids meals at the adjacent mexican fast food place!

Also we love Whitewater Snacks. It's relaly convenient to access it from DCA and they have huge portions, great food and low prices. I like the Nachos and we like breakfast there too! Here is a menu from there so you can check it out, and if you do decide on it, remember it closes at 7pm so adjust times accordingly. I wish they were open later as we tend to eat later!

I guess it depends what you guys like to eat. Pizza port is good if you like pizza and pasta. I like taste pilots grill, which serves burgers. Have you checked out the dining thread? You might get some ideas from there.

We love Pacific warf, we would go even if it wasn't at disney. I wish it was in my home town.

DL counter service - Rancho del Zocalo!!!
We loved our food here and the meals were big enough to share. Can't wait to go back.
Nothing stands out in my memory at DCA, but I do remember getting excellent fish tacos at the wharf.

Great question and good for those of us with small children or people who don't want to waste time eating when there are rides to go on!! I asked what peoples favorite breakfast, lunch and dinners (separate threads) and in their responses were quite a few CS places. I can never seem to get what I want by using the search but you may have better luck. Happy planning

I don't really care for the strictly "counter" counter service places. We ate at that place by the Buzz Lightyear show -- window where you order hamburgers and fries, etc. I felt the food was pretty poor there, and not a good value considering for a few bucks more we could have gone to a cafeteria service place and gotten more, better food which actually filled us up. Ditto the counter place in Frontierland -- low quality hamburgers and hotdogs.

We love the French Market. :cloud9: Pizza Port is pretty good too. Taste Pilot's Grill in DCA (which is more of a counter service place again) is alright, and probably the best place they have going over in DCA as far as restaurants go (for food I like; I'm picky though so the bread bowl place and Mexican food place are probably two of the best restaurants there).

We love the Hungry Bear. My DD thinks they have the best mini corndogs. I'm sure they're not really different from most others. I love the sandwich they serve and it's plenty for 2 to share. We enjoy getting a table way at the back overlooking the river. It's very peaceful.

Taste Pilots was okay with us. Unfortunately we hit it at prime lunch time and the place was packed!! People were standing around everywhere looking for a table.

My dh is very adverterous eating wise, but our almost 3 year old and myself tend to like pizza, hotdogs, chicken fingers, mac and cheese, etc. I'm not a hamburger or sandwich eater really (unless it's grilled cheese!) I think counter service would be a way for all of us to eat something we'd like.

A) I made a Word Document that is broken down like below (this is a little from it). This way we know what we can choose from given how much time we have and what our kids can handle.

B) List broken down by lands and the places to eat (all dining options) in each land.

Our whole family, extended too to be about 15 of us, love the corndogs. i hate, hate hotdogs, but these are amazing. the cornbread is delicious. to die for. they are sold from a cart at the end of main st. in DL and at award weiners and corndog castle in DCA. see they are so good they are sold in 2 places in DCA :)

I love the chowder in a bread bowl at The Royal Street Veranda. DL

DH loves the chicken strips and fries at the Stage Door Cafe. DL

Taste Pilots Grill in DCA is really good.

You didn't ask about price, but since you like pizza I'll point out that if you're an AP or Disney Visa member, you'll receive a 10% discount at Pizza Port in DL and Pizza Oom Mow Mow in DCA. Just something you might want to keep in mind!
