I was 9, and the only thing I wanted for Christmas was the Barbie Townhouse. When I went downstairs on Christmas morning, there it was, standing tall next to the tree. Barbie rode up and down, up and down on the elevator all day, I think. Awesome!!!
Sadly, I dont' remember any Christmas gifts aside from what I've seen in pictures. We were'nt big on Xmas, never believed in Santa.
We love Christmas now that I have kids though -
For awhile, my kids couldn't remember the next day what gifts they got, so I only get them 4.
Something they want, need, to wear and read.
It's easier for them to remember what they got when they see it that way...and it's less mess more special that way (IMO)
The "shoe box" full of odds and ends that I received from my Grandma every year.. She was on a fixed income and couldn't afford much, so she would take shoe boxes and fill them with little odds and ends: hair ribbons; pencils; costume jewelry; a little note pad; some pencils; a pack of gum; etc.. Then she would wrap it in red or green tissue paper and tie it with a piece of that fat, fuzzy, soft yarn - in the opposite color of the tissue paper..
Every Christmas morning I would shove everything else aside - big or small - to get to that shoe box.. It was always my favorite gift - right up until she died at the age of 96 and I was an adult.. I still miss those shoe boxes..

I remember the spacemen.
I also remember getting a flying saucer about a foot across, that was a gyroscope. YOu could wind it up and put spacemen in a pilots seat and the whole thing would rotate on a sma;; stant that came with it.
I love Trixie Belden! I still have my books (although they are pretty ragged.)
My favorite Christmas present was my Fisher Price My Baby Beth doll from my mom and dad. I literally wore that doll out--she needed "surgery" after a few years of being dragged everywhere. Occasionally I can find beth dolls new-in-the-box on ebay, and I have to restrain myself from buying a new one!
When I was 10 I got a german shepard/husky mix puppy. It was my first dog, and I had begged and begged for a couple of years for one. It was by far the best present I ever got and that was one Christmas I'll never forget. We had Rocky for 13 years, and he was the best dog a family could ask for.
