In a few weeks, I'm going to start training to be "really good friends" with characters-namely chipmunks- at WDW! To celebrate, I want to hear your stories of favorite interactions you've had with Chip and/or Dale at the parks! Maybe I can get some ideas for how to be a really good chipmunk friend. ;)

I'll start. The first time I went to the Garden Grill, I had finished meeting-and-greeting with Dale and as he was walking away, he wasn't looking where he was going and ran right into a waiter with a tray full of empty dishes! The dishes all fell right onto the floor. As Dale bent down and started picking the dishes up, Chip came up to him and began to scold him pantomiming to him to be more careful. As this was going on, Mickey was watching nearby pointing and laughing and Minnie came up behind him and told him not to do that. So just a note to give to your "new friends", 1) watch where you're going in restaurants and 2) always make the best of a bad situation; it really helps make things memorable.

Having breakfast at the Polly I was invited up to do the Hula with Chip ( or was it Dale?) I was bragging that I live in Hawaii once so when they came around doing the hula my friends made me get up and show my stuff.

Ok ok so I didnt have any stuff to show but it was fun and my kids still talk about it

This last trip 2 weeks ago we ended up at Chef Mickeys for dinner. Was not expected and I did not have my camera. Chip for the life of him would not leave my DD age 10 alone. DD who is not crazy about anyone in a big furry suit was not impressed and Dale knew it. By the end of our meal he pretty much had my DD eating out of his paws. Looking back she will tell you this was her best moment at Disney LOL.

Gota Love those chipmonks

PS I forgot. I was having a hard day. (Long Story) and one of the times Dale came over to us my DD said " Hey pick on my mom she having a bad day" So Dale came to me on his knees, took my hands in his paws and kissed them. I almost started crying and told him he made my day, then he came over and just hugged me so tight. Looked at me and hugged me again. It really did make my day.

C & D flirting with DDs right after the pic below was taken. We got into MK early for a PS at Crystal Palace. No one around but us, Minnie, & C & D. What you don't see in the pic is C & D making us laugh while the CM was snapping the pic.

Can't think of any right now but very excited to hear the news! Congratulations :hyper: :bounce:

We went this past Christmas, and my 6 yr old DD is still a little embarrassed about her front teeth being gone. She was taking a picture with Chip and Dale, and Dale pointed out her missing teeth. She was initially embarrassed, but then he pointed to Chip and pointed out his missing tooth. She grinned really big as she was walking off, and then suddenly turned around and ran back and gave Chip a huge hug. It was really cute.

This happened sometime during the late 70's when I was about 9 and without looking at the picture I can't remember if it was Chip or Dale...but my brother and I are sitting on a bench somewhere in Frontierland on either side of C/D and I remember being tickled to crying tears. We finally all calmed down enough to pose for the picture and right as we did he grabbed us around our shoulders, pulled us close, and covered our eyes. It's the funniest picture of a great time!!

On my DD's first trip to WDW she was 2 and we went to Centorium (now Mouse Works) for a character meet & greet. This was the best place! It was just inside the doors, but off to the back so we had the characters almost completely to ourselves. Well Dale made her get in her stroller and gave her her own thrill ride. He pushed her around and around and she squealed with laughter. I think it's always these crazy character encounters we remember most!!

Good luck and have a great time!!!!

Well this isn't really an experience at WDW,but we just recieved our planning kit in the mail the other day. My DH, I and my DD were all silently, excitedly watching when they showed a clip of a dancing Chip and Dale...and all of a sudden my DD shouted...
"MOM..look! It's those singin' Weasels!!"

We can't wait for her to meet them "in person" and have some of her own "singin' weasel" experiences...just like all of the wonderful ones you all have had.

Because of that comment, Chip & Dale will always bring a smile to mine & DH's faces
:p

Also at the Garden Grille, DW was walking on the deck trying to pass and Chip threw his arms out and hit DW by accident. Chip claimed it was DW's fault and she thought the opposite. For the rest of the meal whenever he saw DW he would point to DW and then to his head and make the crazy person sign. Everyone really got a kick out of that.

We were at the ice cream social in the Garden Grill one afternoon. Chip had done some of his mischief and Mickey had come over to "scold" him. As Mickey was motioning to Chip that he had misbehaved, Dale comes up behind Mickey and is mimicking everything that Mickey does. Finally Mickey turns around and catches Dale in the act. He starts to scold Dale but Dale reaches up and "honks" Mickey's nose, then scurries away! It was one of the funniest things that we saw that trip.

I have two favorite memories of Chip and Dale.
First time we ate at Chef Mickeys Dale came up to our table and let us take pictures of them with our children and then Dale came back by and offered me his hand and asked me to go away with him. My kids got a big kick out of Dale having a "crush" on their mother.
Second and the best was My husband and I went to Chef Mickeys alone on a late evening date. We were the only ones left sitting in our tables area. Chip and Dale I guess were bored so they decided to pick on our waiter. They stole his tie off of him and Chip put the tie on and pretended he was the waiter. And then they both teamed up against the waiter pestering him something awful. We got some great photos of their antics. They got scolded by Chef Mickey!!!! Got to love those Chipmunks!!(weasels)

Chip was so excited that I knew the difference between him and Dale at our dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. Of course, my hubby just rolled his eyes at me, LOL!

I just wrote this in another post, but it is worth writing again.

On the last day of our trip our family decided to visit the AP Lounge in Epcot (now closed). We were the only family there. We sat down, had a drink, and began watching a little tv. Suddenly, Chip and Dale bust in. I mean they bust in - making a racket and all. My kids were thrilled to have this private viewing time with 2 of their favorite characters. But the day got even better, DS (8) suggested they play charades. Why, I don't know! But Chip and Dale played charades. They immitated other Disney characters. When my DH decided to get smart and imitate a character from the 'other park', boy did the two get upset. They gave him the thumbs down and never let him take another turn being the actor. My 4 kids got such a big kick out of this and we thought this was the perfect way to end a perfect vacation. We just left the park knowing that we had a once in a lifetime experience.

My suggestion is to be up for anything.

Congratulations!!!

Just this past December we were dining at Chef Mickey's. Chip climbed up and stood on the bench seat next to me and proceeded to buff my bald head with a napkin, much to my nephews amusement. It was quit funny and my nephew loved it. My brother got a great photo of the event as well. We were dining late that evening and were the last to leave from the area we were sitting in. Both Chip and Dale were being quite mischevious. They were stacking glasses and silverwear on tables, lying on the benches, rolling on the floor, following the other characters around and picking on them. We felt like they were putting on a show just for us.

Great Memories:D

We were at the Garden Grill.... Chip takes a fry from DS plate and puts it in his front overall pocket & puts his finger to his mouth, letting DS know this is a secret. Mickey comes around a little later & DS, DS, & DD gush out that Chip has a french fry in his pocket, the kids (& us) were laughing & giggling like crazy. Mickey goes and finds Chip, and brings him back to our table, checks his pocket & finds the french fry, Mickey then gave Chip a good talking too. Guess who was back not 10 minutes later grabbing a french fry from DD? :hyper:

This was so much fun, a great memory, the kids still say "Watch your fries?" when we are out.

Several years ago, DH and I were dining at LTT and the restaurant wasn't very busy. At the end of the meal, the waiter gave us the bill and Goofy promptly took it off the table and tried to make the waiter pay our bill. Then Dale shows up and Goofy tries to get him to pay. Dale motions to his pockets to say "no money". DH and I are laughing by now, so I got in to the game. I innocently (I SWEAR!) say to Dale "Tha's OK Dale, I'm sure you left your nuts at home" I truly meant that, as a chipmunk, he would have no use for money, but would use walnuts as currency. Dale promptly, without missing a beat, lifts up his apron to look for his "walnuts" and shakes his head, no he hasn't got any. Dale continued on like this for a few more minutes (remember we were almost alone in the dining room, so we were the only ones to witness this.) The waiter was laughting so hard he had to set his tray down and Goofy was banging his hand on the wall with his shoulders shaking hard from trying not to laugh out loud.

Needless to say, this is one of DH's favorite moments. He still teases me with "got nuts?":smooth:

Last June DS (4) and I were visiting Chip and Dale at the Toontown Character festival. As they cam eon stage they were already being mischeivious, picking on each other. They then pulled Pluto's tail and scurried off to their places. DS and I were last in line for photo with Chip (or was it Dale, I dunno). Anyhow, he starts untying DS's shoe which DS thought was a hoot. Then Chip takes shoe off and throws it to Dale, who pretends to hide it. A CM retreives shoe and helps DS put it on while I am snapping excellent photos. Finally Chip turns DS around for the big "official" photo. Just as I was about to take the picture Chip tickles DS and DS collapses into a little giggling mass. Hilarious time; hilarious picture. In fact, I even made that into my desktop on one of my PCs. DS was ambivalent about Chip and Dale before, but now he can't wait to see them again next week.

Congrats to the original poster on being one of C&D's 'friends'.

My DS (10) has never liked characters. When we stopped for the character bus in Epcot last summer, he went and stood in a corner as far away as he could get without actually leaving us. So I worried about the character meal I had planned at the Garden Grill. (I was surprising my DH with the Rehitching ceremony for our 25th.)
At the meal, my DS was studiously ignoring the characters while trying to eat. Finally C/D comes up, assesses the situation, then proceeds to SIT on my son! My son looks at me and rolls his eyes. The rest of us burst out laughing. Soon, as C/D continues sitting, my son joins in the laughter (who wouldn't, with a big chipmunk rear in your face!!), and starts to interact with the characters!
After that, every time C/D walked by, he either sat on my son again, or pretended he was going to! My son loved it!!

First off, CONGRATULATION
