Favorite "chill" spots

I know our kids at some point and time will be overwhelmed. I am planning some more downtime activities like the parade, train rides and, of course, naps, the ultimate downtime, but am on the hunt for some other places in DLR that aren't as crowded and might provide a nice respite to stave off any stimulation-overload induced meltdowns. What are your favorite quite spots in DLR to just take a moment and relax for a sec? TIA!

There is a lovely area with benches near the train stop at New Orleans Square, beside the Haunted Mansion. Husband and I love to sit there if we can get a shady bench.
I also like the seating area at Hungry Bear. You can buy a drink and sit and watch the people (and sometimes the ducks).

When my children were younger, I used to love Tom Sawyer Island. There are several places with shade--including some cave type places--where I would sit with the very young ones who needed a nap, while the older ones played around on the island.

There's also a bunch of benches under trees around the Walt Statue (in front of Adventureland, in Carnation Plaza (to right of Frontierland entrance) that has a bunch of tables and chairs with umbrellas that's quite secluded and off the beaten path, by Big Thunder Ranch BBQ there's a covered bench that's really nice and allows for some people watching, the porch on Main street (if you're lucky enough to find it empty).

If you want seclusion then Carnation Plaza is the place.

Our family likes to relax along the walkway that runs behind Thunder Mountain over to Fantasyland. There are a few shaded spots with benches and it is a little more quiet that other areas...

The eating area at Hungry Bear
Whitewater Snacks in the GCH- quiet and peacful in there and we love the food. They also have a microwave if you needed to heat up something for babies.

Those are few that come to mind now. My favorite for quiet is WWS.

The porch on Main St....I grabbed a snack and hot chocolate one morning and just watched the masses come in. So cool

Love to sit up by the train and overlook mainstreet. I recall benches there so you can take a load off your feet.

Our chill spots are Riverbelle Terrace, overlooking the Rivers of America and a ride on the Mark Twain Steamboat. That ride is always so relaxing and gives us a chance to recharge.

I guess it could still be considered "crowded", but I like to grab a Dole whip and head to the Tiki Room when I need a break. Something about the dark room and the fake rain/thunder makes me feel like I'm someplace else.

My Fav. Chill spots for very quiet...
1.The Grand California Hotel sitting area. It is huge, lots of seating, its beautiful, quiet and Air Conditioned when its hot, and cozy when its cold.
It has kiddo seats in front of the t.v. with cartoons.
2 Also in the hotel, in the Fire Place room. it is dark, and the chairs are big and comfy. With the fire pace flickering, you can really get a good snooze. lol!
3. if you are hungry, the booths at Flo's V8 Cafe are very comfy and roomy. It is a bit loud, but its good to sit and watch the RSR cars zoom by... We saw some kids with their parents sitting in the booth, and they were coloring and watching the cars. It seemed nice.
4.The Fiddler, Fifer, and Practical Cafe. The booths are wooden, but big and roomy for kids who need to be fed and have some solitude without distractions. Its like a nice dining room.
5.The Disneyland Hotel, out by the pool. Near Trader Sams, there is a big fire place. it is outside, and a lot of room to run around. Also, from what I have noticed in all the Disneyland Hotel lobbies, there are sitting areas. With tables and couches. it is quiet and mellow.

I agree with a lot of the previous posters about several of the spots mentioned. Especially love White Water snacks back terrace area with it's peak a boo view of the DCA Redwood trail area.

Another that has always been a favorite of mine was the fountain in DCA right outside of the Muppets... of course it’s currently all "Tea Partied" out back there, so it may not be quite as relaxing just now.

A great place to have "downtime" for me is to simply ride the train, it is peaceful and enjoyable.

Also the benches on main street just to sit and relax and my favorite: People watch! are so fun! :]

When my kids were very little, they loved hanging out in the baby center (at the end of Main Street, next to the first aid station). Not only is this the "lost children" pick-up location, with Mary Poppins-type nanny clothed staff, but there are also nursing rooms, clean and roomy diaper changing tables, a real, flushable toddler-sized toilet (one of the very few spots in the park with a maximum height requirement!), and a water fountain with ice-cold water. Now that my kids are beyond the baby age, I will really, really miss that place. It truly is a peaceful oasis, so if your kids are small enough, use it! There's also a baby center at California Adventure, but it's not as great (no little potty, no ice cold water). Still quiet, though.

My kids loved Tom Sawyer Island. It was the one place in the park that they could run, climb, and let loose a little bit without me getting on them. Great break to let off some steam. Also - the theater on main street is cool and dark. I was surprised that my boys enjoyed watching the cartoons as much as they did, and everytime we stopped in, we were the only ones in there. We also used It's a Small World as a place to rest. The line was always very short when we were there, the ride is about 15 minute long, and it is also cool inside.

1. Aladdin's Oasis in Adventureland has been open. It's a nice quiet spot; most Guests don't know about it; and it has a restroom.

2. Golden Horseshoe is a nice spot with air conditioning. Laughing Stock is playing there this summer, but in between shows it's a nice spot to have a nice cool drink and cool off.

I LOVE the animation building...the AC is great when it's hot outside. I think my kids would spend half their day in their if I let them.

the petting zoo near BTM

I was going to come back and say that too about the Oasis. I just saw that. I remember when it was a restaurant and I've always thought it was a shame they kept all that closed off. I'm glad it is open now at least for sitting. I can't wait to take my Bengal BBQ there!

Mr Lincoln, Aladdin, and watching the flag ceremony is good for a few min brake.

Also places i found to sit down was
1. when you walk though the castle to the left their is a bench right out side the shop. I found this to be a nice place to sit down at for about 10 or 15 mins letting my son go run around in the store or the castle walk thought (remember we are Maleficent biggest fans) lol he also went to the stand and just looked around the area.

We enjoyed taking a brake at the tables inside and out side the village hus.
Pirates is always a go to ride for a 10-15min brake if the lines not long, and HM. (we go on them about once a day normally)
Small world worked last time too.

I am sure there are more but i cant think of them sorry hope this helps
