To be honest I wasn't impressed with the food at ANY of the character meals we did but we LOVED the interaction at 1900 Park Fare. We thought it was one of the highlights of the entire trip!
We haven't done these ones but done all the others.
Garden Grill
Garden Grove
Mickey's Backyard BBQ
Of all of them, we liked Ohana(stitch has always been awesome with my girls) and Akershus dinner. We also like Tusker breakfast and 1900 PF for dinner. We absolutely hate CM for dinner food was cold and we found the place soo noisy compare to most places.
I've been to Cape May, Crystal Palace, and Garden Grill. Out of those 3, I would definately say Garden Grill was the best interaction for us. Crystal Palace after that.
We only did 2 character meals. I think Chef Mickey's was better than Ohana's. But the boys loved both. My youngest loves Goofy so CM would be his favorite also.
We just returned and loved both Akershus and Chef Mickey's. We did lunch at Akershus, it was very good and the little girls of COURSE are in love with the princesses. My daughter's jaw needed picked up off the floor. Chef Mickey's was a VERY pleasant surprise for us. It has gotten such bad reviews- we ran into a last minute dinner reservation for 5:30 and it was great. I thought all the food was great for a buffet and the kids loved the characters!
Haven't done the others so can't help there, but I would suggest these 2 any day!
My favorite character meal, and I have done several, has always been 1900 Park Fare for dinner with Cinderella, Prince Charming, Cinderella's Stepmother, and her two stepsisters. A great meal, and so entertaining.
Garden Grill is definitely DGirlfriends's and my favorite character meal. All of the food was excellent from the salad and bread to the strawberry crisp for dessert. But it's also the character interaction that will keep us going back. Chip and Dale our two of our favorite characters and they were both great as well as Pluto and Farmer Mickey. They were hanging out with us, sitting in the booth with us, signing our autograph books and taking as many photos with us as we wanted the first couple of times came around. The third time they came around we were taking just photos of them posing and by the fourth and fifth time they came around we were charactered out (in a good way!) and enjoying our meal so we happily waved at them as they went to the next tables and they happily waved back at us. They also signed a card for our anniversey and our server brought out two oreo cookie mousses with oreo cookies for the mickey ears on top of all the delicious food we had just eaten. I think we both agree that Garden Grill was our best dining experience of the whole trip and it will be a must on our next.
Our favorites are Cape May Cafe and Crystal Palace at breakfast. We love seeing the characters in their beach attire and we love Pooh and the gang! Seems like alot of great reviews for the Garden Grill. We're really excited to eat there now when we go in October!
My favorite has been Akershus.
Least favorite has been Garden Grill. We had an early dinner reservation and had NO character interaction whatsoever in the time it took us to eat our dinner. Luckily, my daughter (our only child) was only 3 at the time so she wasn't old enough to grasp the concept of a "character" dining experience. Now, however, it would be a different story (she's now 7). Maybe we'll try it again someday, but we left there disappointed.
As far as the food goes, I've had good luck and bad luck. Over the years we have done almost all. There are 2 we will never return to and they are Chef Mickey (4 trips) and H&V (2 trips) . Food aweful and character interaction fair. I've also found over the years the food isn't as good as it use to be. While the price continues to rise.
Character interaction does very but we found Garden Grill at Epcot to be awesome. At one time we would do 4 or 5 Character meals per-trip. We have cut it down to 2 per-trip.
We always do a Crystal Palace Meal we are Big Pooh Fans. We started traveling with Grandson 15 years ago, and Character meals became a must.
Then Granddaughters started traveling with us and we started doing Princess Meals, we are back to Grandsons and the little one loves The Classic Disney Characters and the Pooh Characters.
