Favorite Breakfast Spots?

I LOVE Breakfast!!! It is my most favorite meal, especially to eat out! That being said, I need some help trimming down the breakfast options. We tend to be bigger breakfast eaters, generally skipping lunch (unless we get super hungry or have a smaller breakfast, like say, a bowl of oatmeal).

One morning, we are going to breakfast at Storyteller's Cafe, so I would like to AVOID any other character breakfasts.

What's good and decently priced? I remember my breakfast at the Riverbell Terrace was pretty delicious, so we may do that on a Disneyland day, but what's the best breakfast spot in DCA?

My DH and I also like to eat a hearty breakfast and have recently discovered Catal in Downtown Disney. Everything was delicious and it's relaxing to sit above the crowd and watch happy people coming to Disneyland Another favorite spot is LaBrea Bakery, newly remodeled and also delicious. Inside California Adventure, we always have to save a spot for a cinnamon roll on one morning. And there are so many new spots inside California Adventure, we haven't had a chance to try them all. We would enjoy new info as well.

Sorry to butt into this post, but does anyone happen to know when the hotel restaurants (specifically Steakhouse 55 and the Storytellers Cafe) open? I'm trying to decide if it'll be possible to eat before EMH or not. Yelp says 7am for both but you never know how accurate that info is.

At DCA I like the eggs and bacon bread bowl and DH likes the egg croissant sandwich at Pacific Wharf Bakery. We tried Flo's in Carsland for breakfast and were very disappointed. The eggs were awful, and I didn't care for the potatoes all that much either. The view of Carsland is great, but go there for dinner when the food was much better. DS11 tried the egg and bacon cone at the Cozy Cones in Carsland and really liked that. If none of this appeals, there are plenty of pastries, Disney and Starbucks, at the Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Cafe on Buena Vista Street.

If you want to eat another breakfast outside the park, Steakhouse 55 had a very good breakfast last time I tried it.

Here's another vote for Steakhouse 55, Riverbelle Terrace, and La Brea Bakery Cafe. And Catal is very good, also - try the Chilaquiles! Carnation Cafe inside Disneyland is also good. I like the eggs and bacon in the sourdough bowl at Pacific Wharf Cafe (and it is an excellent value), but the serving of eggs is a little skimpy compared to what you'll find elsewhere - but if you want to fill up on the sourdough bread it's great.

I have kinda an add-on question.

Extra Magic Hour for us during our trip will be 9-10am, since we are going in early September, and the parks officially open at 10am.

Do you think 30 minutes before gate opening (8:30) will be sufficient? I'm scheduling our Storytellers and Steakhouse 55 breakfasts for 7:30, and I'm hoping that will be enough time to eat and get to the gates. I remember when I went in 2008, we showed up 30 minutes early (also at 8:30) and the gates were already swarming with people....Do the guidelines for EMH change in the "off season" since 8:30 isn't really the crack of dawn anymore, like the summer EMH?

I'm often a Disneyland apologist, but on this I cannot. I'd recommend Denny's across the street on Harbor over just about anything for breakfast at the park. They do nothing special other than make mickey shaped waffles. It's eggs and bacon. The eggs are usually cold. The bacon is usually chewy. The only exception I've noted of late was the brioche french toast at Flo's (pictured above). That was quite good, though it is VERY rich.

I have to tell you we r at DLR now and have had breakfast at Storytellers and Mickey's Surfs Up at PPH. Storytellers was ok nothing really special. Typical breakfast buffet. Mickey's Surfs Up on the other hand was far superior. They had items not typically found on a buffet- huevous rancheros,chorizo omelets, chiliquelles, avocado salad, 3 different flatbreads, smoothies as well as all the typical buffet items. The food quality was really good at Mickeys. JMHO
