Do you have any fav places you like to visit away from the fort?

perhaps a favorite eatery?

I am thinking being how it is FL and all I might need an awesome fish taco.

I might be adventurous enough to get all the supplies and just need fresh fish...hmmmm....

Well of course there is Downtown Disney (or Disney Springs if you prefer). We like to make a "Day" of that as well.

We also like Sea World. I will say, if you go to Sea World and spend a day there, it is most definitely worth it to get their "Dine All Day" plan. particularly if it's hot out. You can go into a restaurant and just get a water/soda/drink, show your D-A-D Pass (bracelet) and walk out. If you have more than one meal, it almost certainly will pay for itself.

It's not a "Favorite" but we also like to (occasionally) go to "Old Town" for a change of pace. Lots of stuff to see and do, and of course buy, there.

I understand LEGO land is not that far. A friend recently took their small kids there and they loved it. We did not know about it until after our trip with our nephew, apparently he knew but did not tell us.

We like to go over to Cocoa Beach for the surf shops, see which cruise lines are in port and to have a day over at the beach. Kennedy Center is also there and they have tours of the facilities, for a cost, and they opened a new Bass Pro about a year ago. One of our favorite restaurants is over there as well, and we try to get there at least twice while in Florida.

We are hitting Kennedy Space Center on the way in to WDW this trip.

There is a great restaurant that we go to about 5 mins. away, they don't have a big parking lot, not for a truck and camper. There is also a nice, or was nice back in the day, campground run by the county a few minutes from there also. We tent camped there for 6 months back in early 2000.

We are staying in Mims on Sat, visiting KSC on Sunday then and early morning shot to WDW to hit AK if campsite is not ready.
So when we head to KSC it will be with just the pickup.

You camped in a tent for 6 months!? :worship:

I was kind of thinking the same thing.

Makes camping at Disney seem like nothin'!

I have spent MANY a night (albeit not 6 months) in a tent like this one. They are good tents, but a Low ceiling. :)

We have some great restaurants here in Celebration (8 miles from the Fort - straight down World Drive). Columbia is our favorite:)

If you are interested, the restaurant is called Dogs r Us. It is a small place with tv's playing sports channels, and the food is really good. All kinds of hot dogs, wings, and the BEST fried mushrooms we have ever had. They have a great menu selection, and not sure it you have kids but they eat free with a paying adult. From the space center it is about 5 miles or so on the right, just after the Publix supermarket.

It was more like the first tent. We had carpet, 2 three drawer chest for clothes. portable clothes bar, 3 airbeds, tv, 10 gallon fish tank, and a toy box, with room to walk around in the tent. Then there was the screen house with the small refrigerator, microwave, cook stove. My DW would take the kids to school down the road while I went to work. After school the kids did there home work at the picnic table then went swimming and fishing all afternoon.
