Fav. Moderate hotel

we too stayed at pop a couple of times - and my hubby wanted to try a moderate. after MUCH research - we chose POFQ. I was dissapointed. The only advantage I saw was the hot tub ..... but it was inconveniently away from the pool - so could not sit in hot tub and watch kids in pool. (OK - there were also these AMAZING pastries at the POFQ food fair ...... advantage? To the taste buds ... yes! To the figure .... not so much!) Other than that - we found the bus systm better at the pop - and kind of liked the atmosphere at the pop better as well ...... did not think it was worth the extra $$$. My kids far preferrd the pop.
Our last trip, however, we stayed the majority of our trip at Pop - and splurged for 3 nights at AKL .... it was AMAZING - well worth the price (although we could not afford it the whole trip), and well worth the inconvenience of the move. We rented DVC points - so got a good deal on the room as well as a great (DVC) room!

Hi For those who have stayed at both resorts, isn't the landscaping better at french quarter than pop, I know in the past port orleans had won awards for their landscaping and the pretty river that flows thru the resort.

Just wondering what others think? I have been to port orleans and think the whole resort is beautiful, but I have not been to pop but understand it is great too.

I think you mean the Port Orleans Riverside. This is the sister resort to French Quarter. POR has won awards for its landscaping. Having stayed there, it is absolutely stunning landscaping with the river that runs thru it. There is a walking path that encircles the Alligator Bayou buildings that lends itself to a romantic stroll with the one you love. My DH and walked around and it was very nice...

Yes you are right por riverside. But I also think the french quarter is nice as well, with its light posts lit at night, and the trees, river etc.

Hi! :goodvibes

We are thinking of staying at a Moderate hotel and I was just wondering what your favourite is?

We've only stayed at Pop, the kids want to stay there again, but I would like a change!

Thanks!

We stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort and LOVED it. I know alot of people complain that it is big and a long walk - but we didn't find the walk that bad. The main pool area is fabulous - my kids loved it. We also liked hanging out in the hammocks in the little beachy areas. We also liked having the small pools scattered around. The kids loved taking a late night swim - and that pool was really close by.
