Whats your favorite or what you consider the best building when you stay at SSR????

With or without small children? We are empty nesters that LOVE Congress Park building 2101 - 2436. That's facing the pool and DTD. Now that we have our first DGD, I'm thinking that we would like to try Grandstand building 8101 - 8436. It's right next to the bus stop and the pool. There are people that feel the Springs is great because it's right across from the main pool and community hall, but it's the last bus stop. During the busy season, you could be standing.

We stayed in studio 1147 last summer and it had a great view of DTD. We could walk there in about 5 minutes. It did take about 10 minutes to walk to the main pool/The Artist's Palette but was well worth it for the view we had in my opinion.

we have stayed twice at SSR; first time was the Springs, building w/rooms 3501-3836. Nice location near the Carriage house, Main swimming pool and food court. Only drawback was that sometimes the bus would be full as the Springs was the last stop.

On our 2nd visit we stayed at the Grandstand, building w/rooms 8501-8836 and this is now our preferred choice; we were still close to the Carriage house and main pool/food area and we also had a 2nd pool choice at the Grandstand; we used both the main pool and the quieter Grandstand pool and it worked out nicely. Also, Grandstand is the 1st bus stop which made a huge difference especially when coming home at night and being he first off.

Now with the new pool being built at the Paddock I would be curious to check that out

When I was there on a solo trip last week, I was scoping out the place for where I'd want to request when I come back with my DH and DD4 and this is exactly where I'd pick (well either of the buildings in the 8000 series would be great). 1) They are close to the Grandstand bus stop and it's the first stop going to the parks so my little one will surely get a seat. 2) The walk to the main building was very short, 3) The pool here is beautiful and the water canon play area would really be fun for small children, 5) The walk to the boat dock is relatively short as well.

But if we had a lot of ADRs at other resorts, I'd prefer Congress Park. They have a great pool, playground and it's in walking distance to DTD where you can catch a bus to any resort without having to make a transfer. But I think I'd still be wishing I was in the Grandstand area since I could hop on any park bus and ride it around to the Congress Park if I had to.

Congress Park, love the views, the pool, close to Downtown Disney. :thumbsup2

Kikiq and FF have the good tip. We stayed in that very building in 09, when DD was not quite 1. Very accessible by bus, actually closer to the Carriage House than Congress Park buildings, and the Grandstand pool and splash area is terrific for preschoolers/toddlers. Look forward to staying there for the first half of our visit in June with DD and DS's first visit to the world.

They do seem to be planning SSR so that each neighborhood will have its own
features. Congress Park has the most obvious draw with DTD. The Paddock will have the new pool and if I remember a counter service restaurant?, which will increase the desirability for that section and the Carousel as well.

We love Congress Park because of it's proximity to Downtown Disney. We love the quiet pool and the calmness of this location.

We've stayed in every section except Carousel and we prefer Congress Park.

Add me to the list of those recommending Grandstand building 8101 - 8436 for those travelling with a toddler. We stayed there in May and October last year when our son was 2 and 2 1/2, respectively, and he loved the water play area at that pool!

Count me among the Grandstand fans! Of course it depends on the building but generally speaking you're close to Carriage House and the boat launch to DtD. Having that first bus pick-up and drop-off is a plus too.

We've stayed at Grandstand twice and The Paddock once, and we'll request Grandstand every time now.

To the OP.... keep in mind there are 4 buildings in the Grandstand area. The two that begin with the number "8" are the convenient ones we're talking about. The two buildings that begin with a "9" are further out. Some people don't find the extra distance to be an issue. I was traveling solo and stayed in studio 9101 which is on the end closest to the 8's and I decided I would never put in a general request "Grandstand area" since I didn't care much for those other two buildings. I'd be specific.

Since I have a small child, I wouldn't want to stay there when my family was with me. Again, it's not a horrible distance but it's significant enough that I'd pick the Springs or Congress Park before wanting to be in those outlying Grandstand buildings

Congress Park, DTD view, gotten it 3 times, love it. It's beautiful at night, Congress Park is within walking distance from DTD. We always get a 2 br, and have coffe or drinks on the balcony!

;)Add me to the list-Loved Grandstand!! Close to everything! Loved the pool and bar/snack area there as well.

I forgot to mention earlier that near Grandstand is a nice, lighted walking path to DtD's West Side. The roughly ten minute walk will bring you close to the Cirque theatre. It's quite a pleasant walk, actually.

I totally agree and the chances of requesting two specific buildings in Grandstand and getting them is less than just requesting Congress Park or Springs.

The Grandstand building closest to the bus stop, has a higher percentage of Handicapp accessible rooms than the other three so if you request it, you are likely to get HA room whether you need it or not.

Congress Park, Springs are our favorites, of course when the new Paddock pool opens, all this is will change. That pool is going to be fantastic and having dining options. :thumbsup2

Another Grandstand fan here. :thumbsup2 I like that the entire section feels "away from it all", but is still very convenient to everything at SSR. One huge plus for me is ample parking; I had a harder time parking where I wanted to in the Springs and Congress Park. Also, I've now been in every Grandstand building except the one bordering the pool and bus stop - I liked them all equally. :thumbsup2

Big fan of Congress Park because of the proximity to, and views of, DTD.

Which building in the Grandstand section would you all recommend for people with mobility issues and no car?

We currently have a Grand Villa reserved with a request for the Grandstand section. Is there one (or two) buildings that we should request? We need to be close to the bus stop and Carriage House due to the mobility issues.
