Fav Apps for Droid

Had an update on my phone today. I can finally get the Flash player! Yay!!

What phone do you have and was the update done automatically?

It's the Motorola. When I got up this morning I had a notification on the screen about it. I could do the update then or do it later. I just hit update now and it did it's thing. After it was done I went to the marketplace and downloaded Flash. I think it was 10.1 version. It's the first thing listed in the market under free apps.

I had to go some round-about way to get my froyo update for the Incredible. Haven't downloaded flash yet. I just love the flashlight app that comes with the froyo update. It uses the flash on the phone as a light.

Have to check and see if the marketplace has the flash update yet. Haven't seen it for the Incredible so far.

I would be totally happy with 24 hour battery life.. mine is lasting a little longer than that depending. But my husband has the droid eris and within 6-8 hours its full on dead.. to the point of shutting off. Its really ridiculous.

And ya know verizon... "we sell batteries" err no the phone is 3 months old.. fix it!

I have an Eris and my battery is lasting about 4 days. Seriously. Does you husband use the internet a lot on his phone? I use it occasionally, but I shut it off when I'm not using it, and that really extended my battery life. The Eris comes with a widget that I put on my main page that allows me to turn the internet on and off with just a touch of the finger.

Because I did this, I only get my mail on my phone by turning on the internet, and then retrieving the mail. This works for me because I'm on a computer most of the day. I can still get text messages immediately even with the internet turned off.

The other thing you can do on an android phone to save battery life is to turn down the screen brightness. I took mine down to about 10-15%, and it still looks just as bright to me as it did on 100%.

I guess I should have included that. :rolleyes1

Bar Code Reader lets you use your phone camera to scan barcodes on products, and you can do lookups on the phone to find where the items are sold, or for more info on the items. The app makes it so easy to add more apps too! The app barcode is a square box, instead of the lines of a regular barcode. When you scan the box off a website or magazine ad, it takes you right to the app on the internet.

The Keyring app lets you stop carrying all those little savings tags around with you, like from CVS, Best Buy, or the grocery store, or whatever store. You use Bar Code Reader to scan them into your phone, then you can just pull up the keyring app on your phone and the cashier can scan in the barcode from your phone. You can put in all your keycards, even for your local businesses, such as the library. One less thing to carry around.

Is there a trick to getting keyring to work? I've scanned and rescanned my grocery store tags, but when I get to the store the scanner won't read them. I've tried it a few times now and finally gave up, but it would be SOOO nice to not be dragging around the dozens of cards!

It works with my phone, so I don't have any suggestions. I carried my actual cards until I tried the keyring app in the stores.
