Father of the Groom Attire

Should the father of the groom wear a tuxedo? The groom, groomsmen, and my father are wearing tuxedos so I thought my father in law should wear one too. He said he was and now is refusing. Do you think it will look bad if he is wearing a suit?

Umm I don't think it will look bad...here is a pic of my FIL and step FIL...I don't think it looks bad.

I think that unless it is a black tie affair wearing of a tux is just for members of the wedding. Is your FFIL officially in the wedding?

The FFiL. a Step- FFil. and If the Bride has a Step-father, they should wear suits. Guests can wear a dress shirt , dress slacks and/or sport coat.

Yeah if he had a part in the wedding then I think he should wear a tux but I honestly think a suit will be just fine.

I actually didn't want my FIL to wear a tux but he wanted too. It looked fine with him wearing one but I think that if they are not actually in the wedding, there is no need for a tux. So I think if he doesn't want to wear one that is fine! I don't think anyone would notice!

My FFIL is going to be escorting DF's step-mom and grandmother down. Do you think he needs a tux?

My FBIL and brother are also escorting people down but they aren't wearing tuxes.

Do you girls think this is ok?

No, it isn't a black tie affair so I will stop stressing out about what my father in law is going to wear. Hopefully, he will wear a suit.
