What does the father of the bride wear?? Can people post pictures? Did they have a tux/ suit similar to the groom?? My dad already has a tux buy the groom and best man are going to be wearing a suit I think, should he wear a suit too?

Thanks

My dad is wearing the same tux that the Best Man is wearing. A black tux with a silver vest and tie. :thumbsup2

My dad wore the same tux that the groomsman and man of honor did. He looked so sharp that he said he was going to get one just to wear around town to pick up ladies! :rotfl:

LMAO Carrie :lmao: That sounds like something my dad would do.

My dad will be wearing the same tux as the groom and groomsmen (so will my DF's dad). My DF is wearing a white vest, his guys are wearing red vests (that match the girls dresses) and both our dads are wearing silver vests.

I would think though if your DF and his bestman are wearing suits that your dad should do the same.

I'm struggling with this as well. We picked the Taupe color suit from Carolyn Allen's for the Groom & Groomsmen, but we are waiting to decide for the Fathers. My dad doesn't want to wear Taupe because he's a very large man and wants something more slimming, but what do you get to coordinate with Taupe?:confused3

What about dark gray if it's a cool-ish taupe or dark brown if it's a warm-ish taupe?

I was thinking Brown as well and that's what Keith as Carolyn Allen's recommended. But it's hard to through in Brown to a light green/aqua color scheme. I think it will clash:confused3

Oh, I don't think they'll clash at all! Blue and brown look great together, and green and brown, well - look at the trees! :goodvibes

Maybe you could use the color-selection tool on David's Bridal's website, the one where you put colors on virtual bridesmaids and groomsmen, so you could see how the light green and aqua look with a dark brown suit.

Lurkyloo, great idea for the David's website!:thumbsup2

I guess I really don't like the brown tux at Carolyn Allen's that they have, it's a striped suit. I really love the Midnight Blue Navy suit they have though! I wish DF liked it too, then maybe we could do groomsmen in navy and fathers in grey? Or how about Groomsmen in the Taupe and the Fathers in the Navy?

Here's the pics from the site

Now Keith at CA said that the Father of the Bride should coordinate with the Guys but also match me because he's walking me down the aisle

Ok what's your advice?:confused3

Oooh I'm struggling with this as well. My BM dresses are a navy irridescent taffeta and my DF and I like the idea of a taupe/brown tux (we haven't decided on a particular shade). Since we're doing a beachy theme with green accents (think inside of LSS), we thought this color combo would look nice. My dad has his own, nice navy suit that I think he's hinting at wearing since he wouldn't have to rent something separate. I think it'd be weird, though, to match the bridesmaids and not the groomsman...although could they wear navy vests to match? I'm so not good at matching men's clothing! :headache:

MStitch - I'm having a similar color scheme Aqua and lt green, same as LSS, so that's why I think the brown strip tux doesn't really go

I guess I really like the Navy tux.

I don't think it's a big deal for the Father of the Bride to match the groomsmen - it's not like he stands up there next to them the whole time. And I have *maybe* three pix of my dad standing next to the other guys in tuxes....

For me, I'd put navy with gray before I'd do navy with taupe, but they're all neutrals so it'll prolly look fine either way.

MalefiStitch - if you're using Carolyn Allen, check out a Jim's Formalwear dealer in your area and see if you can have DF try on the different suits you're looking at. I thought DH would look great in that brown suit MermaidBride posted, but the color ended up making him look kinda sallow. So you might be able to decide better once you've seen them on. :thumbsup2

Thanks mermaidbride and lurkyloo! I definitely think it's easier to see how colors coordinate not only in person but when he tries it on. We definitely don't want the DF to look sallow on the big day!

I can always trust the sound advice on the Dis

Thanks!
