Father-daughter dance song?

I plan to dance to "Wind Beneath My Wings" by Bette Midler. My dad is my hero and he is everything I wish I could be like (and wish my DF could be like too, haha j/k). Plus not to be completely cheesy, but he really is the wind beneath my wings, and has made his life journey to give my entire family all the opportunities possible in life.

That is SO sweet! I'm a daddy's girl too :) We didn't have a father-daughter dance at our Intimate, my daddy has cancer and uses a walker so it would have made him feel very self-concious. You are going to have a beatiful father-daughter dance!

Not to get too far off topic but at my friend's wedding, her husband was such a momma's boy that his mother insisted she dance just with him to "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face." Look at the lyrics - it's a love song! The line says "the first time ever I lay with you" I couldn't believe it! We all laugh about it now that they're divorced. Just had to share :lmao:

I have that song on my "Disney's Happiest Celebration on Earth" CD from WDW. They don't sell it in stores but they do in the parks. However, I've seen plenty of people selling copies of it on Ebay.

Yes, they do sell it in stores. I bought my copy at Borders (music, movie, book store) and also saw a copy at Wal-Mart.

I guess that must be a recent thing b/c I bought mine in July last year and spent months before hand going store to store to find it. Finally I called a Disney Rep and said that I could buy one from one of the park stores. I'm talking about the 6 Disc set that is all music from the WDW theme parks including all dedication songs from famous artists. I don't think there is any way wal-mart would carry a $98 CD set for Disney. However, I'm sure the OP could find the Leann Rimes song on a single CD like one at Wal-Mart.

For father/daughter, we are going to use " Let them be little" by Lonestar. It is GREAT! Our first dance is going to be the LeAnn Rhymes song from the 50th Anniversary.

That is such a sweet song! I've heard it a few times but can't remember all the words.

This is a departure from the Disney theme, but I was thinking of using the song "The Last Man You Remember" from Aspects of Love. Still up in the air, though.

When I married DH it was my second marriage, so we decided to do a Father/Daughter dance, but it was DH and DD. They danced to I Will Take You Home, by the Greatful Dead. Everyone thought that it was a great song for the two of them. A beautiful song written to a daughter from her father. They will be dancing to this song at her wedding when she gets married. Which she has already decided will be in Disney!!! Better start saving now!! :rotfl2:

We used "You'll Be In My Heart" by Phil Collins from Tarzan.

Then to do something special for DS, we did a mother/son dance to this song. It was great!! My mom danced with my brother, DH danced with his mom, my sisters were dancing with their sons. We had alot of people up there dancing to that son.

This past trip in Nov to Disney was my first trip without DS (he's in college), we went to go see Tarzan, and the minute I heard the music the tears just started following out of my eyes. I looked over at DD and she was also crying cuz she missed her brother too. Well DH was taping the show and had a very hard time taping while wiping his eyes!! It definately has a place in all of our hearts no matter the distance between us!!! pixiedust:

Father/Daughter from Paul Simon is also an awesome song.

I was all set to use something Disney for my father/daughter dance last September. My dad is the biggest Disney fanatic, followed a close second by my now DH.

And then...flipping through songs on Amazon, I found it. It was the song that brough tears to my eyes, and I just knew.

The song?

Through the Years by Kenny Rogers.

My dad's a huge Kenny Rogers fan and I can remember driving around with him on weekends and listening to Kenny Rogers in the car. For us, Christmas isn't complete without pulling out the Kenny and Dolly Parton tape (yes, tape!) and watching the Disney parade!

Good luck finding the song!

I think this song choice is a hugely personal choice...I picked out my song the first time I ever heard it (years before I got married). My dad isn't much into music and so he didn't care what I chose (the only thing he listens to are the James Bond songtracks). We danced to "I Hope You Dance" by Leanne Womack. I've been a dancer my whole life, largely in part to my father who shuttled me all over the country touring with a dance company when I was as young as 7. He's also the one who taught me that fairy tales can come true--you just sometimes have to work to make them happen. so the song was perfect for us. I hope you find one perfect for you!

You might want to look back at the old old disney sound tracks--find one that has meaning for the two of you...

Hey there:

I did "You'll Be In My Heart" for my father/daughter dance at my wedding in December.
Its from Tarzan and I always cried at that moment during Tarzan. The Disney Violinst played it beautifully while we danced.
I thought it was very appropriate.
Hope that helps.
Thanks
Gabrielle

I was listening to the Beauty and the Beast Musical soundtrack the other day and "No Matter What" just popped out at me. It is sung by Belle and her father, praising each other. The first few lines don't really work, but there are three different places that the song could "start" so just edit out the first part of the song! I will keep it in mind for my daughter - although it will be about 20 years before she'll need it! ha ha
