well today is day one for me, 99 days to go

today i had the mean green for breakfast and dinner, with a freshly made fruit sorbet of mango and rasberries for lunch

the mean green dont taste the best but im hoping it will get better

1 Bulk of spinach
4 Stalks of celery
1 Cucumber
2 granny smith apples
½ lemon
Ginger root (thumb sized)

i fully expect the next few days to be a little rough, migranes, sleepless nights, etc, etc.

i must say after the first day i feel a little weird, my body is being exposed to high doses of nutrients that it has never been exposed to before

Good On you! Taking that first step to drop some pounds is really hard. I don't expect this is going to be easy for you as the days go by :hourglass. The detox headache is a killer :headache:! Oh I have had those before.

Anyway you should be really proud of yourself :thumbsup2!

oh wow that sucked

1st night couldnt sleep had a massive migrane and felt very very ill
2nd day i had to leave work early (after nightshift) as i was incoherent and walking around work with a bucket so they sent me home, i went straight to bed and couldnt manage anything to eat except some fresh made fruit sorbet or rasberries and blueberries at 1pm, then back to bed before work
2nd nightshift (i should of pulled a sicky) i spent most of my shift on the couch whilst the other staff (a freind/staff) looked after me and the job, she left at 8pm i got up and locked the place down, checked medication had been administered, i then walked into the staff room toilet and threw my guts up big time, it was all pink (rasberry/blueberry and all the water i had drank) i slept alright but still had a lingering migrane

day 3 i feel much better now though still a little seedy, going to a friends place (he has a juicer) and we are gunna build a vege garden

have had nothing but fresh made juice and sorbet (u can make sorbet with the cold press juicer) since starting

i have been looking for a weight loss buddy and having just come back from our first dlr trip, and having another one planned, but a short jaunt to europe in the middle, am looking for something drastic to help shift the initial kilos in anticipation of a huge push towards actual, noticable weight loss this year...

err though i must say today is now day 2 (again)

im not feeling so bad this time and i think it is because i have started with fruit juice and will bring in the vegetable juice as my stomach settles and my withdrawal goes away (ie fruit juice equals higher sugar levels and thus less drastic headache) havnt thrown up yet

so what happened ?

well i was 3 days in and just started to feel slightly alive again, my wife decided to sorbet some frozen strawberries and she used the wrong attachment, well the drum cap of my brand new $480 cold press juicer, exploded off the end and flew across the room putting a dint in my freshly painted wall :mad:

sure given a sound mind that had not just suffered an agonising withdrawal i could of found a way to continue on the juice fast for the 1 week that it took me to get a replacement drum cap mailed in ($30), but i cracked a darky and went and brought myself a souvalaki :rotfl:

so when the drum cap arrived after a week of running a muck, my mind knew that i would torture it again so it ran wild seeking all manner of fast foods, breakfast, lunch and dinner for that week

i started again on saturday on my day off, that was until i got called into work for an extra shift, so i loaded up exverything i would need and went to work, everything went well

sunday (also my day off) i was preparing my jetski for tomorrows play around the bay, when again i got called into work for a nightshift :confused3, money is money, so the jetski is currently parked out the front of work and i will leave directly from work to put in at werribee, i have a thermus and a whole bunch of apples and pears that i will juice in the morning and take with me

im looking forward to when i have done 2 weeks and things start to become normal, i will say this, you lose weight instantly, its a very tough way to do it but it gets fast results, after just day 2 i have had to make an extra hole in my belt so my pants dont fall down :rotfl2:

im also every few days or so putting some nuts through the cold press juicer, comes out like peanut butter, (walnuts, pistashio, cashews, peanuts) all mixed together, its very pastey and after just a few teaspoons you are satisfied, if ever i get pecky i just have another spoonful or 2 and this keeps me satisfied, acording to dr oz, just 2 handfuls of cashew nuts has the same amount of the active ingredient in prozac and by crushing all the nuts up into a paste you are able to absorb a lot more of the nutrients

im not ready to claim any victorys yet
im not ready to gloat

but when the time comes
i will

lol - i love it :) i bought the dvd and waiting for it to arrive. i want to watch the dvd first and then do the fast, rather than starting before i've psyched myself up :)

I have been planning on doing some left over optifast sachets i had in the cupboard as part of my 'pre-juice detox'. had pizza for dinner while i was watching the trailer for 'fat, sick and nearly dead' and decided that was it. so tomorrow is day 1 of the optifast (and i'm sure i'll be in the DTs by midmorning when the caffeine and sugar cravings hit) but a week on that and i'll be ready to start my juice fast. have plans to go out and buy the nice new juicer next week, so fingers crossed.

so glad you're seeing results so quickly. i know the first week of my weight loss is always water weight and bloat, but it's so gratifying to see results coming so soon...

its like the body just lets go of all its water when you first start

i rekon i went to the toilet during the first night 20 times

it was ridiculous :confused3

i got the dvd a few nights ago, watched it and was inspired like nothing has ever inspired me.

i got a $150 gift card from work as part of a xmas bonus and will be using that to help buy my juicer. i have a week off work between xmas and new year so will be starting my 100 days then, as i figure the first few days are the days when you really, really don't want to be around anyone else anyways.

I bought the DVD at Woolworths today AND bought a breville juicer , will watch the DVD tonight and hope to start very soon . :eek:

nah i bombed on day 6
really disapointed in myself as i was feeling great, i was not hungry, i felt very energetic, but my mind got me.

i guess if i had a camera crew following me around i would of been able to fight it off, i felt like the truck driver felt on thanksgiving when the neighbours were having a bbq, except i was all alone and my mind tricked me

so guess what
its a jan 1 start for me now, going to keep at it until i get it right

can i give some advice
in the first 3 days just have fruit juice and not vegetable juice, this will allow the sugar levels in your body to reduce without the massive migrane, you still may feel a little unwell and have a migrane it just wont be as severe, then once you are feeling ok transition to vegetable juice

don't be down on yourself... it's hard!!! i'm still in my week of pre-juicing and i've been having about a litre of juice througout the day to try and increase my nutrients etc and train my body to like getting the juice etc.

so far i've been having a juice for breakfast, a normal lunch of salad with chicken etc, then juice throughout the afternoon & water, and a really light dinner of fish & veges with a little rice or something. the juice i've been having has been a blend of fruit/vege (not sure i can do the mean green yet) and i've been finding this hard. i have been feeling more energetic and better about myself, but still...

i briefly entertained the thought today that this might be too hard, but don't want to give up before i've at least gotten through the first 3 days of just juice... i'm starting that on dec 26 so that will be interesting. i'll take your advice on doing only fruit for the first few days though... also because i like the sweetness of apples/pineapple/watermelon etc first thing in the morning :)

i think if i had a camera crew around it would be pretty easy to stick to it as well, but as he says... good on you for trying & lasting as long as you did.

and hey, think of the previous experience as your 'pre juice-fast increasing your nutrients period', and that jan 1 is your actual juice fast start date :cool1:
